UPF RATING
UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and indicates how
much of the sun's UV radiation is absorbed. A fabric rating of
50 will allow only 1/50th of the sun's UV rays to pass through.
This means the fabric will reduce your skin's UV radiation
exposure significantly, because only 2 percent of the UV rays
will get through.
All Jonsson Workwear is rated UPF50+ for excellent protection
against the harsh effects of the sun. Our workwear has been
tested by independent, accredited laboratories and rated
according to Australian / New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4399
Sun Protection Clothing Classification.
An important factor to be considered when selecting your
Jonsson Workwear is that the protection offered by this garment
relates to fabric only and the manipulations involved in garment
manufacture may lower the UPF of the material. The rating is
for the fabric only and does not take into account the design
of the garment. UPF protection can be lessened if the fabric is
stretched, wet, in close contact with the skin, or worn out due
to wear and tear over time.
To ensure complete protection for outdoor workers, Jonsson
recommends clothing that provides maximum body coverage,
application of sunscreen and a broad-brimmed hat.
