Attendees of this workshop will gain research-based insight into the best practices
for getting the most benefit from SAP over a long horizon. At the heart of this event is
the Center of Excellence: how it works, how it provides business benefit, and how it is
constructed. Join this workshop and learn how to break down business processes by key
performance indicators that can be targeted for measurable improvement. Presenters will
demonstrate three levels of improvement (common sense, technical, and SAP-driven) that
will drive measurable business benefit. Toward this end, presenters will show how newer
SAP technologies, especially Solution Manager, are being applied in the utilities industry
that enable the best practices discussed in the course of this workshop. The concluding
segment is dedicated to supporting end users as the drivers of business process
fulfillment, and thus a key to achieving measurable benefit.
Developing a Future-Proof Big Data Strategy
Sutej Kapur, Senior Principal – Value Engineering, SAP America
Eric Olsen, Principal Solution Architect, SAP America
Many advanced analytics scenarios require extracting actionable information from data that
comes from a variety of disparate data sources. The growth in data volume and the increases
in the velocity of data, coupled with the increasingly complex relationships between data,
create the need to evolve the systems that support business professionals. SAP’s vision is to
provide utilities one logical data platform for all transaction and analytics workloads. Doing
so will enable the transition from data visualization, automated data storing and retrieval, or
generic statistical routines of individual systems such as OMS, SCADA, and MDM, to artificialintelligence-based
software tools that extract actionable information from combined data.
In this workshop, you will learn how to transition your organization from a data storage
and management landscape built on traditional RDMS and specialized databases such
as Teradata, to a landscape able to transact, move, store, process, and analyze nextgeneration
“big data” in near real-time, and seamlessly, while reducing TCO costs. You will
also learn how to apply value management methodologies to develop strong business
cases supporting investments in new database technologies.
access, mobile users need access anywhere, and expert users want consumer-grade
experiences. SAP has undertaken a range of investments in initiatives across SAP with
