The Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 to provide a

Respect Life Sunday – October 3
Respect Life Sunday will be observed throughout the U.S. on
Sunday, October 3. Msgr. Joseph Schaedel, vicar general, will be
the celebrant for the Respect Life Mass at 1 p.m. at SS. Peter
and Paul Cathedral, 1347 N. Meridian St. in Indianapolis. At the
conclusion of the Respect Life Mass, Msgr. Schaedel will present
the Archbishop Edward T. O’Meara Respect Life Award and the
Our Lady of Guadalupe Pro-Life Youth Award. The award
recipients will be recognized for their outstanding service in
promoting the dignity and sanctity of all human life. For more

Honoring All Couples Married 50 Years and More
Golden Anniversary Mass 2010
All married couples of the Archdiocese who will
celebrate their 50 th Wedding Anniversary during
2010 are invited to the 27 th Annual Golden Jubilee
Mass at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 17 at SS.
Peter and Paul Cathedral, Indianapolis. Couples
who have already passed this milestone are also
encouraged to attend. Archbishop Daniel Buechlein,
OSB, will celebrate the Mass. A reception for the
Jubilarians and their families will follow immediately
after the Mass. The event is free of charge, but
registration is required by September 24.

Morgan County Medication Roundup
What to do with expired, unused meds (over-the-counter and/or
prescriptions) and sharps? When they are flushed, burned or
thrown away the environment is harmed, the chance of crime
increases and the chance of accidental ingestion is present.

Lions Club Eyeglass Recycling
Your used eyeglasses may bring the gift of good vision to those
in need. Our local Lions Club collects them and makes them
available to those who cannot afford eyeglasses. You may drop

Second Annual Bishop’s Bash
September 19
Archbishop Daniel will host the second annual Bishop’s Bash on
Sunday, Sept. 19 at his home for all young adults and college
students of the Archdiocese. Arrive at 4:30 p.m. for Mass on the
grass, followed by a 5:00 p.m. cookout, time with the
Archbishop, games, Colts football and more. For directions and

St. Martin Fundraiser at Chili’s

Students will be selling meal tickets and raffle tickets
after all Masses September 25-26 and October 2-3.
Meal tickets are $3.00 for hot dog, chips and drink.
Raffle tickets for our skeletons are .25 each or 5/$1.00.
Students in grades 3-8 have made and dressed
the lawn décor/skeletons for Halloween.

Cellist John Winninger graduated from Indiana University with a double major in
Radio-TV and Music. Currently he is senior educational TV producer and director at
WTIU on the IU campus. John also performs as first chair cellist with the
Bloomington Pops Orchestra, the Cascades String Quartet and in various chamber
ensembles. A longtime member of the Community Chamber Music Association, he is
frequently presented in its programs.
Pianist Diane Rivera has music degrees from Drake University and Peabody
Conservatory of Music. She has taught piano at several universities and now she is
an instructor in the IU pre-college Young Pianists Program. She also participates in
many musical groups in Bloomington as well as being a frequent soloist.
Soprano Mary Kominowski is an active recitalist. Mary earned a Bachelor of Music
from Mary Hardin-Bayor University and a Master of Science degree from Indiana
University. She has studied voice with Ethel Closson Smith and currently with
professor Alice Hopper of IU Jacobs School of Music. Mary is immediate past
president of the Bloomington alumnae chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International
Music Fraternity.
Pianist Owen Hartnett is a doctoral piano student at the IU Jacobs School of Music,
and has completed nearly all of the requirements for the degree. Originally from
Rhode Island, Owen has been the organist/pianist/choir director for several years
at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Martinsville.
