FROM THE PASTOR...
For the last six months my life was changed when my mother was taken to the
hospital and her stay there was two weeks. After that she was taken to Manor
Care for therapy. During that time I had a dual responsibility one to my mother as
being an only child but also my responsibility of being a priest and your new pastor.
I tried my best to be both a good son and also a good priest. My dual responsibility
ended on September 16th when my mother passed from this life to a new life
with God. At this time I want to thank all of you for your prayers, support and generosity
at her passing. You can not imagine how much your support and words
have meant to me. Thank you!
On the weekend of Oct. 16 and 17 the Archdiocese will celebrate the Festival of
Faith. The highlights will be marriage and youth. It will be held at the Stevens
Convention Center in Rosemont, IL. There will be speakers, workshops and activities
for all ages. Find more information check out www.catholicfest.org or call 312-

Last weekend our football teams had their homecoming games at Richard High
School. The weather on Sunday was terrific but the outcome for our teams wasn t
what we wanted. All of the children and their coaches did a great job and only one
young man broke his arm. We wish him well, and congratulation to all the children
for a job well done.
Also on Friday the 25th our schoolchildren had a game-a-thon. They played basketball,
ball toss, races, bunny hop (which I lost) and other games. For lunch the
children had hot dogs and deserts which were supplied by the parents. They all
had a great time. Thank you to the parents who chaperoned and those who
brought goodies for the kids.
Last week we celebrated with our Confirmation class and their sponsors with a dinner
and then rehearsal. Within the next two weeks I will be interviewing them to
see how much they know about their faith, their confirmation saint, and what confirmation
means to them and also to see if they attended Mass. I have been told that
this will be something new for our confirmation class. This interview is also a way
for me to get to know the young adults.
Congratulations to Joe and Nancy Oswald who celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary
last Sunday. May you have many more years of joy.

COMMUNION MINISTERS MEETING

There are some small changes to the procedure of the distribution
of Holy Communion. This meeting will give you a
chance to practice and experience these changes.

Thank you for taking the time to learn these life saving skills.
You are a blessing to our community.
If you are hospitalized please contact the rectory or have a family member contact the rectory.
Hospitals do not regularly contact the Parish to tell us you are hospitalized due to current HIPPA
regulations.
Please discuss with your family members your wishes in case you are suddenly taken to the
hospital. In contacting the Rectory, you will be included in the Prayers for the Sick, and the entire
parish may offer their prayers for your quick recovery. In contacting the Rectory, you may
request a Minister of Care to visit you at the hospital if you have an extended stay. In contacting
the Rectory, you may ask to be included on the Prayer Line, devoted parishioners will pray for
you and your loved ones.
Hospitals have their own Pastoral staff, who will be happy to bring the Eucharist to the hospitalized
person as allowed by your condition and physician.

The evening could not have been more perfect for the Annual Outdoor Mass
and Bonfire.
