News from Spain…
Unión de Acordeonistas (UNAC) was founded in
2006. Our organization has been working these first
three years trying to develop and diversify accordion
activities in Spain. The main objective has been to
motivate the young generation to continue on with
our beloved instrument, the accordion in all kinds of
genres including classical, jazz, virtuoso and folk.

generation, UNAC has

musicians from all
over the world such as
Peter Soave (USA),
Richard Galliano
(France), Frank
Marocco (USA), Alain
Musichini (France) and
Mika Vayrynen
(Finland) who have all
demonstrated their
superior skills in the
music field.

Second Accordion Meeting/Recording, UNAC –
Spain: Navas de Riofrío (Segovia- Spain) 1-3 May
2009. UNAC – Unión de Acordeonistas held the II
Accordion Meeting for his associated in Navas de
Riofrío, Segovia (Spain). The aim of this meeting was
to take contact with others accordionists and share
impressions and experiences, all around one main
theme: music and accordion. The most important
activity was the course “Accordion Mechanics: Repair
and Evolution of the Instrument” by two important
accordion authorities Philippe Imbert (France) and
Jose Mari López (Spain). Also there was a lecture
and demonstation of the latest Roland V-Accordion, a
sponsor of this meeting and a homage concert to the
composer Anatoly Kusjakov.
All the participants brought their instruments for the
practical sessions of the course. It was divided in
several parts: Accordion repair, Tools and examples
of tuning, Mechanics, and the accordion evolution.
Participants (left) came
from many cities like
Madrid, Zaragoza,
Cuenca, Murcia,
Pamplona, San
Sebastian, Valladolid,
Sabadell, La Coruña,
Barcelona, Segovia
and was coordinated
by Raquel Ruiz.
On Sunday the UNAC
President Angel Luis
Castaño delivered the
diplomas to all
participants.
