The concert was dedicated to Geir Draugsvoll,
associate professor at The Royal Danish High School
of Music in Copenhagen. He is to perform “Fachwerk”
at three concerts in Belgium and Holland from
November 13 – 15. The orchestra to accompany him
is Amsterdam Sinfonietta conducted by Reinbert de
Leeuv. This work joins a splendid row of works for the
bayan by Gubaidulina – De Profundis, 7 Worte in
Croce, Silenzio just to mention some.
Nordic Accordion Concert in Denmark: As a result
of the meetings in Stockholm in 2006 and in Jyderup
(Denmark) in 2008, a Nordic cooperation was
established, and now a Nordic accordion concert was
held in Rungsted, north of Copenhagen on April 25 of
this year.

Spring Festival: The Italian
Accordion Cultures (IAC)

Strumenti & Spring Music
Festival, held in Spoleto from
May 17-19 2009. The
festival welcomed some of
the finest accordionists from
Italy and Europe in addition
Each of the Nordic countries including Finland,
Norway, Sweden and Denmark selects two artists,
groups or orchestras for the concert, and each country
provides 30 minutes of playing time.
The concert was the first joint Nordic concert as a
result of the cooperation, and was sponsored by
Nordic Culture Fund under the Nordic Council. The
concert was held in conjunction with the national
Danish competitions, and all competitors were invited
to attend the concert. All together about 200 people
including more than 100 competitors attended a very
fine concert. In particular, the Finnish young players
were very brilliant and accepted standing ovations.
Finland is to arrange the next Nordic concert in 2010.
Italian Accordion Culture (IAC)
to holding the national qualifications for Italy, selecting
candidates for the Coupe Mondiale competitions in
New Zealand. The festival showcased renowned
accordionists Vladislav Pligovka (Coupe Mondiale
Champion - 2008), Viatcheslav Semionov, Alexander
Selivanov (Coupe Mondiale Champion - 2004) and
Yulia Amerikova (CIA International Competition for
Ensemble Music Winner with Alexander Selivanov –
2008), the Renato Borghetti Quartet and the Italian
Roland – V Accordion Festival.
