Bullying: what it is
and isn’t...
This month’s all-school assembly
is identifying the 3
components that make a
behavior bullying:
-a negative action
-an imbalance of power
-it happens repeatedly
Ask about our staff’s acting
abilities!
Next month: We’ll explore
what to do if you see/are
being bullied….
The new school year is an
exciting time for all! Not
even an earthquake, a hurricane
or a flood could keep
West Bradford from a great
start to a new year! We
embrace new staff this year
including Mrs. Brook Martin
(librarian) and Miss
Meghan Lynch (LS), both
from Pottstown SD. Mrs.
Donna Patrizio and Miss
Karlee Kircher both joined
our 4th grade team from
other DASD schools. Mrs.
Mary Wallin, our school
counselor, comes from
Great Valley SD and Mr.
George Reigle from the
Philadelphia SD. Mr. John
Campbell, head custodian
brings experience from
Downingtown East.
It was a pleasure to have
RtII: Response to Intervention and Instruction
The state of Pennsylvania has mandated
the adoption of Response to
Intervention and Instruction (RtII)
approach to support all learners.
The RtII model supports students in
tiered model, offering levels of intervention
and instructional practices
to ensure that students are proficient
in the understanding and application
of state standards.
West Bradford analyzes data from
district benchmarks (AimsWeb,
4Sight, and curriculum-based assessments)
to look at specific skill
needs. From there, data teams create
instructional opportunities for
students who need support to practice
and secure these skills as well
as enrichment groupings for students
who have met or exceeded
Girls On The Run
Girls on the Run® is a life-changing, experiential
learning program for girls in grades 3-5. The program
combines training for a 3.1 mile running
event with self-esteem enhancing, uplifting workouts.
The goals of the program are to encourage
positive emotional, social, mental, spiritual and
physical development.
West Bradford is excited to be able to offer this
program through the Chester County Y. Trained
coaches Mrs. Mary Wallin, school counselor and
Mrs. Shannon Miller, WB parent, are excited to
ready our team of 3-5 graders for the Sunday, December
4th event!
these specific skills. Progress is
monitored and after 6 weeks, groups
are reorganized and redefined based
on progress/need.
At West Bradford, CHARGER TIME
is the 30 minute, regular ed instructional
time which occurs four days/
week for all grade levels to support
the tiers of need. Miss Terri
O’Malley and Mrs. Alyson
Reardon, WB’s Intervention
Specialists, help to collect,
organize, guide, analyze,
schedule, assess and support
ALL students, staff and the
principal!
The practice of RtII is not new at
West Bradford, but we’re looking to
continue learning to hone our craft,
deepen our understanding of the
process, close gaps in our instruction
and continue to support the
growth of our variety of learners
within and above the state standards.
