With the racing concluded for the day and ultimately the<br />

regatta, it was time to head in and prepare for the party at<br />

the dub that night. A fine Italian buffet was served and live<br />

entertainment by "NRP" (No Requests Please) had the<br />

Happy Feet moving. The bar and the ballroom were buzzing<br />

with activity until the late hours. The usual post race conversations<br />

filled the air.<br />

After a few hours of waiting on Sunday morning, the Race<br />

Committee gave up on the breeze and decided to give those<br />

who were traveling an early start home. Awards were presented<br />

to the top three and everyone was encouraged to<br />

head to Annapolis the following weekend for the third and<br />

final leg of the Triple Crown.<br />

A good time was had by all who attended. Hopefully next<br />

year we can really fill the spacious clubhouse as well as heat<br />

up the competition with more boats, more races, more families<br />

and more fun. See you all next year.<br />

A record thirty E-scows trekked to Annapolis for the fifth In closing, I'd like to extend an invitation to all of you who<br />

annual E-scow Fall Sprints on Oct 1-2, <strong>1994</strong>. When all was haven't yet made the fall journey to Annapolis to come on<br />

said and done, Erik Johnson (f-18) walked away with his out next year and join in the fun!<br />

third top honors trophy in three tries. It wasn't easy for Erik,<br />

however, having to score a second in the final race to nail<br />

down his victory. Four other skippers had divided up to five<br />

bullets in their effort to unseat him.<br />

George Welch, Jr. (KU-1) finished a close second to T-18, PLACE BOAT<br />

but at least had the consolation of winning the first "E-scow 1 T-18<br />

Triple Crown" award. Bob Donat (LE-3); Dave Magno 2 KU-11<br />

(l.A-99), who has won the other two Sprints; and Rick 3 LE-3<br />

Turner (CH-6) took third through fifth respectively, each<br />

winning at least one of the races in the process. Also of note<br />

was that Dan Crabbe (f-8) scored bullets in the last two<br />

races to pull himself up into sixth place overall.<br />

Conditions on Saturday started out with the threat of a<br />

drifter as the impressive fleet was towed in line up the<br />

Severn River a short way to Round Bay where the day's<br />

event was to take place. The wind finally picked up though,<br />

and all three races were run in good order. The evening 13 MA-4<br />

soiree lived up to its growing reputation, with the host dub, 14 CH-5<br />

the Eastport Yacht Club, and the hometown E-scowers com-<br />

16 KU-16<br />

bining to lay out a vast spread of food and beverage. It was 17 LE-5<br />

great mixing with the large number of club members and 18 AH-1<br />

other non-E-boaters who came out to support the event 19 LE-54<br />

Sunday saw a stiff breeze in Annapolis Harbor where the 20 LA-5<br />

final two races were held. The background of the colonial<br />

city and the US Naval Academy provided for one of the most<br />

scenic venues on the scow regatta circuit.<br />
