Cathodic Corrosion Protection
Pipelines, Tanks and Reinforced Concrete Structures

We protect your Investments - for Decades
Corrosion of pipelines, tanks, reinforced concrete
structures and other metal constructions
causes every year enormous economic damages.
In order to defend against the risk of corrosion
metal is protected by coatings and coverings.
However, those protective measures are showing
signs of corrosion within few years. Only the
combination of passive with active measures,
like cathodic corrosion protection (CCP), can offer
comprehensive protection.
Cathodic protection can be installed preventively
at new constructions as well as for rehabilitation
measures at existing facilities. Cathodic protection
systems are designed for a life time of more
than 40 years and are regularly controlled and
maintained by V&C. That way any interruptions
of operation, repair works and expensive rehabilitation
measurements become thus a thing of
the past.
Cathodic corrosion protection is suitable for all
fields of applications. The costs of a cathodic protection
system amount just a fraction of the total
building costs or the costs of any repair works.
Principle of Cathodic Corrosion
Protection
Corrosion is always due to potential differences
between metallic materials (e.g. pipelines or reinforcing
steel) and its environnement. It is an
electrochemical process that leads to destruction
of material on the metallic surface. Passive
protective measures like coatings do not provide
sufficient protection against corrosion as the
smallest damage or crack in the coating can lead
to severe corrosion damages.
By impressing an electric current between protection
object (metal) and corrosion medium
(electrolyte solution) the corrosion process can
be influenced actively. Cathodic corrosion protection
effects a potential decrease and reduces
the corrosion removal rate to a technically negligible
value (approx. 0.01 mm per year).
About us: From Pioneer to Specialist
V&C is Austria‘s pioneer in the field of engineering
and installation of cathodic protection systems.
Already in 1965 the founders of the company,
Heinz Vögl and Erich Cschötz, were looking for
solutions in corrosion protection. At that time the
method of cathodic protection was hardly known
in Central Europe. In 1971 they finally founded
the first cathodic protection company in Austria
named „Ing. Vögl & Cschötz“. After acquisition
of the company by the Austrian energy supplier
EVN the company name was changed into „V&C
Kathodischer Korrosionsschutz“.
Today V&C is acknowledged specialist for cathodic
corrosion protection and offers a wide range
of services for the protection of pipelines, tanks
and reinforced concrete structures.
As an innovative company it is a matter of conern
to us to be always with a finger on the pulse of
time. Therefore we are offering solutions for engineering
and installation of photovoltaic plants
for industrial as well as private use under the
brand name „POWER ON“. Moreover we deal in
