VIT PLACEMENT NEWS
VIT’s Placement Centre has been active in finding Campus placements
this year too.
The placement season for the 2012 graduating batch started on 25 th July
2011 with Amazon visiting VIT as the first company under the Dream
status.
Many reputed software product and core engineering companies visited
after Amazon and recruited final year students.
National Record in Campus Placements
As per the NASSCOM’s directive, the Software Services company
recruitments started on 19 th September 2011 with Cognizant visiting VIT
as SLOT 1 company. Cognizant again set up a National record by
recruiting 1820 final year 2012 passing out batch students bettering its
previous record of 1643 from 2011 passed out batch. The 1643
recruitment feat was recognized by Limca Book of Records (2011 edition)
and VIT was accorded with a certificate for ‘Highest Number of Campus
Placements done by a single company from a single campus’.
VIT on a row of four years starting from 2009 batch has maintained the
National record in highest number of campus placements by a single
company.
The other major software services companies that recruited VIT students this
years include Accenture,Wipro, HCL,Aricent,iNautix, Mphasis,Intergraph etc.,
Premium Recruiters
VIT introduced the concept of “Dream Offer” in the year 2008 which
enables the premium companies in Software and Core Engineering sector
to recruit good students with higher packages.
Software Product and Services companies which offered more than 4
lakhs per annum and all core engineering companies were given a “Dream
Status”. More than 500 students from 2012 graduating batch landed with a
Dream Offer.
This year, IT major Flipkart recruited 3 students - 1 for placement with a
package of 12.5 lakhs per annum and two for project work.
Microsoft recruited 9 students with a package of 10.2 lakhs per annum.
Deloitte, a reputed Consulting MNC firm, created a World Record by
recruiting 52 of the final years with a package of 4.63 lakhs per annum.
This is the highest number of campus recruitment done by Deloitte across
the globe.
The other premium software pro duct and services companies that visited
VIT for 2012 batch placements include Intel, Amazon,Cisco,Oracle, eBay,
Google, Capital IQ, Commvault, Success Factors, VM Ware, Netapp,
Alcatel-Lucent, Schneider-Electric, Honeywell, Akamai, Source Bits,
McKinsey etc., These companies have recruited VIT students with
packages more than 4.5 lakhs per annum .
Core Engineering companies that have recruited VIT students this year
include Ashok Leyland, Cosmic Circuits, Honda, Tata Technologies,

Telcon, Maruti, Altair, Ericsson R&D, Honda R&D, Philip s, Tata Motors,
GE Healthcare, National Instruments, Michelin, Murugappa, ESAB,
L&T ECC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Carborundum Universal, Open Silicon,
Quest-Global, ITC, Flsmidth, Greaves Cotton, Hyundai, Sanmar etc.,
Maruti recruited 17 students and Tata Motors recruited 9 students.
As on 1 st March, 2012, 139 companies had visited VIT and offered 2922
placements for 2012 passing out batch which includes 593 Dream Offers.
Industry Tie - Ups
VIT has signed MoUs with companies like TCS, Cognizant, Infosys,
Ericsson, Wipro, HCL, Schneider Electric for Academic Collaborations.
Ericsson under the MoU with VIT has offered a certification program
called ‘EXCEL’, Ericsson short listed 80 of the final year B.Tech (ECE)
students to undergo this certification program this year.
Cognizant is conducting a certification programme titled “Cognizant
Certified Student (CCS) for the pre final year students. More than 900
students with Computer Science background are getting trained.
VIT offers the M.Tech(SDM) programme for Cognizant employees and
the MS(IT) programme for Wipro employees.
Cognizant, Michelin and Schneider Electric give scholarships to
meritorious VIT students every year.
Wipro Technologies was the major sponsor for graVITas 2011, an Inter
national Techfest.
Microsoft, TVS Motors and Greaves Cotton have offered Summer
internships for the Pre Final years.
HCL Technologies conducted “Employees First Customers Second” – A
HCL Leadership Workshop
Accenture – Innovation Jockeys
Leadership workshop on 13 th January, 2012. TCS’ Technology Appreciation workshop
VIT has been chosen as one of the select Institutes by Accenture
for conducting a Student contest “Innovation – Jockeys, powered by
Yahoo” for the Pre Final year students.
TCS launched its Campus Commune Portal at VIT on 27 th January, 2012.
It has also had conducted a Technology Appreciation workshop
for the pre final year students on 13 th and 14 th February, 2012.
Wipro conducted its pre employment workshop “Jump Start” between
20 th and 24 th February, 2012 at VIT for its campus recruits.
International Academic Forums Cognizant Chinese recruitment
Final year students have participated in the International Academic
forums of Schneider Electric(Paris), Schaeffler(China) and
Michelin(Germany) sponsored by the respective companies.
International Placements
Every year, the Placement and Training Centre organizes campus
placements for the foreign students studying in VIT. Cognizant has
recruited the Chinese students studying at VIT this year. Companies like
Nokia, Wipro and Murugappa are planning to recruit the foreign
students through campus recruitment in March/April, 2012.
