Administration<br />
Krista Montague started working as the Athletics Department Development &<br />
Marketing Director in July of 2002. She was also recently appointed to the<br />
position of Senior Women Administrator, making her the highest-ranking female<br />
administrator in the Athletics Department.<br />
Montague graduated from Hysham High School in 1995, where she earned a<br />
scholarship to play basketball at MSU-<strong>Billings</strong>. She was a four-year letter<br />
winner for the Jackets, graduating in 1999 with the school record for career free<br />
throw percentage. As a senior, Montague helped lead MSUB to the West<br />
Regional Championship and its only Elite Eight Appearance.<br />
Before joining the MSU-<strong>Billings</strong> Athletics staff full time, Montague worked for<br />
Deaconess <strong>Billings</strong> Clinic. During the summers of 2000 and 2001, she was also<br />
the Athletics Department’s part time corporate partnership director. Krista and<br />
her husband Brent live in the <strong>Billings</strong> Heights area and have three children, Dylan<br />
(9), Shayla (2), and Allie, who was born this summer.<br />
Travis Elam enters his second year as Director of Operations and Media<br />
Relations and his third year overall with the Yellowjackets. He was a sports<br />
information graduate assistant during the 2001-2002 school year while<br />
completing his master’s degree in sport management.<br />
Elam graduated from MSU-<strong>Billings</strong> in 1997 with an undergraduate degree in<br />
English education. He went on to teach English and coach football at Browning<br />
High School and Augusta High School before returning to <strong>Billings</strong> in 2000 as an<br />
assistant footbal coach at Rocky Mountain College. He coached running backs<br />
for two years at RMC while working toward his master’s degree at MSUB. He<br />
completed his master’s last spring.<br />
In addition to his duties at MSU-<strong>Billings</strong>, Elam is also the Conference Information<br />
Director for the six-member Pacific West Conference, which has its main<br />
office located in <strong>Billings</strong>. Elam and his wife Kate live on the west end of <strong>Billings</strong>.<br />
Denise Wynia begins her third year as Administrative Assistant for the<br />
Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. She graduated from Eastern <strong>Montana</strong><br />
College in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration,<br />
Office Administration Option.<br />
Wynia has been an administrative assistant at MSU-<strong>Billings</strong> since 1986, working<br />
in the Biology and Physical Sciences Department and the Counseling and<br />
Human Services Department. She also served in the office of the Dean of the<br />
College of Education and Human Services as well as the Special Programs<br />
Assistant to the Dean’s Office.<br />
Wynia and her husband Kevin live on the west end of <strong>Billings</strong> and have three<br />
children, Josh, John Michael, and Brittany. They also have two grandchildren,<br />
Kendra and Ethan. In 2002, Wynia received an MSU-<strong>Billings</strong> Staff Recognition<br />
Award for her outstanding work for the Yellowjacket Athletics Department.<br />
