WELCOME
Exeter Phoenix is one of the South West’s
leading contemporary arts venues, offering
an exciting and varied programme of theatre,
dance, performance, music, film and visual arts,
and attracting over 150,000 visitors a year.
Situated in the heart of the city, Exeter Phoenix
is also a vibrant, multi purpose conference venue,
offering flexible conferencing and meeting rooms
for every type of event.
Exeter is a leading tourist destination attracting
large numbers of visitors throughout the year.
The city is richly steeped in history and deservedly
worth exploring. Highlights include the Cathedral
with its Norman towers, the historic Quayside
and the Roman City Wall. Beyond Exeter lies the
beautiful South West coast line and the rural
Devonshire countryside.
Working with partner organisations, Exeter
Phoenix plays a significant role in the city’s
cultural calendar, hosting launches and events for
city festivals such as the Summer Festival (arts),
Vibraphonic (music) and Animated Exeter (film).

conferences. The configuration of each space

allows you to choose a space that best suits

To ensure your event runs smoothly we have
a dedicated team managing your booking
from start to finish. We can provide technical
support and technical equipment is also
available for hire. There is the provision of
Wi-Fi in the Café Bar.
Exeter Phoenix Café Bar is on hand at
all times to ensure all your hospitality
requirements are met. Buffet menus are
available as well as a selection of delicious
food and a variety of hot and cold drinks
which can be ordered from the bar.
The café has a fully licensed bar with
most of the public spaces licensed for
entertainment up until 2.00am

AUDITORIUM
Exeter Phoenix’s main event venue is a
versatile space designed to accommodate
both seated and standing events.
THE IDEAL SPACE
As a fully equipped multi purpose space,
the Auditorium is both flexible and
functional. Suited to catering for larger
groups of delegates, the tiered theatre
seating arrangement comfortably holds
a maximum capacity of 216 people.
The Auditorium can be arranged to suit
your specific type of event. We are also
able to provide cabaret seating and a
banqueting layout.
The seating system can be easily stored away
to make room for standing events such as
trade and career fairs, product launches
and corporate training. For standing
events the Auditorium is able to hold
a capacity of 450 delegates.
The space is fully fitted to accommodate all
sound, lighting and technical requirements
and is equipped with a full sized cinema
screen. If required, technical assistance
is available at an additional cost.

DANCE STUDIO
Situated on the first floor, the Dance Studio
is a popular meeting room ideal for practical
workshops and training sessions, seminars
and breakout sessions. This spacious
room over looks the picturesque
Rougemont Gardens.
The Dance Studio holds a capacity of 70
delegates when set up theatre style and
30 – 40 in classroom style.

The Art Studio is an informal artistic space and
holds a capacity of 15 delegates. The studio is

BLACK BOX STUDIO
The Black Box Studio is situated in the Media
Centre. It is an intimate and self contained
space ideal for smaller scale presentations,
product launches or meetings. This space
is also suitable for screenings or small scale
performances. Fully air conditioned with a
capacity of 40 delegates when set up theatre
style and 25 delegates when set up classroom
style. Access to a variety of media equipment
and facilities can be arranged through the
Media Centre.

TOP STUDIO
The Top Studio situated on the second floor
is a versatile space able to hold a capacity
of 30 delegates. This space is suitable for
seminars, meetings, training sessions and
practical workshops. The Top Studio is

Throughout the year Exeter Phoenix delivers
a rich programme of exciting contemporary
art and installations featuring a wide variety
of local, national and international artists.
The Galleries are perfect for stimulating
conversation and discussion within a
relaxed and friendly environment.
Staging and rostrum are available for talks
and presentations as well as the provision
of a PA. Full technical support and
equipment can be provided.
Hospitality and catering is available through
prior arrangement with the Café Bar.

Exeter Phoenix boasts in-house technical
facilities unrivalled in the region. There is
a vast pool of state of the art equipment,
knowledge & know how that equips us to
cater for even the most technically
demanding event.
Be it film presentations, theatre, corporate
seminars & award ceremonies, music or
video shoots, we have a wealth of knowledge
and experience that coupled with our highly
flexible performance space, make Exeter
Phoenix the perfect choice of venue for
your event.
We host on average over 200 events per year
within the building and supply equipment
& technical professionals for external events.
As such we are constantly expanding and
updating equipment to keep ahead of the fast
moving entertainments & arts industry.
In conjunction with Phoenix Media, we are
able to provide a comprehensive audio/
visual service, including producing short
films to accompany presentations or events,
live filming at events and post production &
editing. We can record professional studio
quality audio at live events & have highly
experienced studio engineers to master
recordings or combine these with video
footage for a full service.

We uphold the highest production values
during all stages of events, from the low-key
seminar, to the sell out concert, or audiovisual
extravaganza. As a result we have many years
of satisfied clients many of which return year
after year. Our clients include Question Time,
Bose, Fat Face, Barnardo’s, BBC, Twofour
Production, Youth Dance England, Royal Ballet,
Open University, Culture SW and Centre for
Sustainable Energy.

Phoenix Media, based at Exeter Phoenix,
is a production, access and training resource
for video and other digital media. The centre
provides media skills training, specialist
courses and works with partner organisations
and institutions on a wide variety of
creative projects.
This multi-purpose centre has the facility
to produce film and digital media as well as
providing equipment and expertise. Phoenix
Media also has an in house facility for web
design, the production of corporate videos,
DVD duplication and other media design.

EQUIPMENT
Phoenix Media has a large selection of
media equipment and studio space available
including HDV and DV cameras, lighting and
sound equipment, fully fitted editing suites
plus a media training suite.
Phoenix Media also offers the provision
of a digital projector with screens able to
be operated on and off site for a variety
of corporate events.

HOSPITALITY
Exeter Phoenix Café Bar offers an
imaginative selection of homemade
food and is able to cater for all corporate
bookings and events, from refreshments,
breakfast, lunch and buffet menus
through to full-scale banquets.
The Café Bar prides itself on providing
high quality food and service. Our chef
will provide a menu to suit your needs
and budget. We work closely with the
client and can arrange pre-event menu
and drinks tasting.
During our normal opening hours the Café
Bar serves a wide selection of delicious
meals, snacks, daily specials alongside
a selection of hot and cold beverages.

Our terrace is a perfect location for meetings

If arriving by car via the M5, take either J29
or J30, follow signs for the city centre.
There are a number of local city centre car
parks and a park and ride scheme.

close to main line station Exeter St David’s.
Exeter St David’s receives trains from all
over the UK. Exeter Central station is a
5 minute walk from Exeter Phoenix and
receives the London Waterloo train.

Exeter Central Bus Station runs regular local
and National Express coaches from around
the country. The coach station is in the
centre of Exeter and within close proximity

From the High Street: go down Gandy Street turn right at the end
and walk up the hill.
From the clock tower: walk down Queen Street with Central station
on your left, turn left after the museum and walk up the hill.
Coming out of the library: turn right down the ramp, right again at
the bottom and walk about 75 metres straight on.
