Long ago, humans portrayed acts of everyday life on cave walls.<br />
Centuries l<strong>at</strong>er, art still demonstr<strong>at</strong>es the lives and culture of<br />
those living, working and playing in the Dayton region. Paintings,<br />
sculpture, photography and more can be found throughout<br />
the <strong>MetroParks</strong>.<br />
ArtIsAn venDors: You don’t need to search for<br />
a high-priced specialty boutique to find quality jewelry,<br />
pottery or other hand-crafted artwork. Artisan vendors<br />
can be found <strong>at</strong> the 2nd street Market or in booths <strong>at</strong><br />
local festivals.<br />
exHIbIts: Did you know you can view locally produced<br />
artwork in the ground floors of Cox Arboretum and<br />
Carriage Hill MetroPark visitor centers? You can view<br />
these hidden gems during normal visitor center hours.<br />
Displays will vary. Contact a manager if you are interested<br />
in showcasing your own work <strong>at</strong> one of these loc<strong>at</strong>ions.<br />
lonG-terM exHIbIts: In 2011, wegerzyn Gardens<br />
MetroPark will undertake an experiment in visual displays.<br />
N<strong>at</strong>ionally recognized sculptor P<strong>at</strong>rick Dougherty will<br />
cre<strong>at</strong>e one of his oversized sculptures made from willow<br />
branches. There are many opportunities for art and<br />
n<strong>at</strong>ure to converge, and if this exhibit is well-received,<br />
<strong>MetroParks</strong> will look into the possibility of commissioning<br />
additional displays from other artists.<br />
PHotoGrAPHy: Photo opportunities abound in the<br />
<strong>MetroParks</strong>. Why not upload yours to the <strong>MetroParks</strong>’<br />

frequently uses photos from this site in a variety of<br />
