A Message from His Grace<br />
Bishop Youssef<br />
My Beloved Brethren & Children,<br />
It is with <strong>the</strong> greatest joy that I<br />
send each <strong>of</strong> you a personal greeting<br />
for <strong>the</strong> Feast <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Blessed Nativity.<br />
This holy event is <strong>the</strong> gate<br />
which opened for us <strong>the</strong> path <strong>of</strong><br />
Salvation. <strong>The</strong> first step onto this<br />
holy path began with reconciliation<br />
between heaven and earth.<br />
Thus <strong>the</strong> angels rejoiced in proclaiming<br />
<strong>the</strong> blessed birth <strong>of</strong> our<br />
Lord Jesus Christ, “Glory to God<br />
in <strong>the</strong> highest, and on earth peace,<br />
goodwill toward men” (Luke 2:14).<br />
Let us always remain in His peace<br />
and exchange greetings <strong>of</strong> peace<br />
amongst each o<strong>the</strong>r that we may<br />
indeed be a reflection <strong>of</strong> His light<br />

Ano<strong>the</strong>r Year <strong>of</strong> H.O.P.E.<br />
H.O.P.E (Help O<strong>the</strong>r People Excel) has witnessed<br />
<strong>the</strong> hand <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Lord in all its services and with<br />
every individual helped during this year. <strong>The</strong> love and<br />
support <strong>of</strong> many compassionate hearts and kind donors<br />
had made <strong>the</strong> service expand in all directions and<br />
helped us even to start new services in new areas <strong>of</strong><br />
great need. Our services in year 2009 are as follows:<br />
Helped an increasing number <strong>of</strong> needy families and<br />
disabled kids in Egypt.<br />
Helped in arrangements for operations and treatment<br />
<strong>of</strong> different cases in different hospitals in <strong>the</strong> US.<br />
Helped new comers in some churches with furniture<br />
and clothing.<br />
Conducted a bone marrow drive to establish a good<br />
bank <strong>of</strong> <strong>Coptic</strong> Egyptian donors that might need<br />
bone marrow transplantation in <strong>the</strong> event <strong>of</strong> blood<br />
disorders.<br />
Covered <strong>the</strong> cost <strong>of</strong> medications or operations to an<br />
increasing number <strong>of</strong> needy in Egypt.<br />
Sent containers to Egypt full <strong>of</strong> cloth, medical equipments<br />
and clinic furniture.<br />
Sent ano<strong>the</strong>r container filled with clothing to a church<br />
in Dallas.<br />
Major Projects<br />
Major projects were sponsored by HOPE this year:<br />
Providing funds through your generous support to<br />
trash collectors who lost <strong>the</strong>ir source <strong>of</strong> income<br />
with <strong>the</strong> slaughter <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir swine. Many families<br />
were provided with an average <strong>of</strong> $700 to start a<br />
new mean <strong>of</strong> income generation.<br />
HOPE is providing nearly 4000 children in three<br />
needy areas in Cairo with winter jackets to give<br />
<strong>the</strong>m warmth and comfort during <strong>the</strong> harsh winter<br />
in Egypt.<br />
New Services in 2009<br />
Many new services were started in this blessed year<br />
2009. <strong>The</strong>se services included:<br />
An interactive web site where sponsors can choose<br />
<strong>the</strong> particular case that <strong>the</strong>y would like to support<br />
and sponsor.<br />
Increased Copts employment chances by posting<br />
resumes for job seekers which allowed Copts<br />
to hire Copts.<br />
Started a new service for needy in Sudan where<br />
111 <strong>Coptic</strong> students (23 university students<br />
and 88 elementary students) were sponsored to<br />
pay <strong>the</strong>ir tuition fees.<br />
Budget<br />
Goals for 2010<br />
Continue to increase <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> needy families<br />
helped through HOPE.<br />
Increase awareness <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> new web site format and <strong>the</strong><br />
ability <strong>of</strong> donors to select <strong>the</strong> particular need in<br />
which <strong>the</strong>ir donations can be directed.<br />
Help support medical needs <strong>of</strong> needy in Sudan.<br />
Expand our employment interactive web site to help<br />
more Copts to find jobs.<br />
