is accepting steer donations<br />

through December 10 th<br />

from area livestock producers<br />

for their 3 rd Annual Carcass<br />

Challenge. Donated<br />

steers will be used to raise<br />

funds for establishing and<br />

maintaining an Ag Ambassador<br />

program to help recruit<br />

and maintain enrollment for<br />

the WSC agriculture program<br />

and advocate for agriculture.<br />

By donating a steer at<br />

weaning time and you’ll be<br />

providing educational op-<br />

portunities for students which<br />

include:<br />

* Brand inspection process<br />

* Brand release process<br />

* Processing change of<br />

ownership<br />

* Health inspection process<br />

* Feed selection & cost<br />

comparison<br />

* Building rations<br />

* Calculating cost of gain<br />

* Livestock evaluation<br />

and selection<br />

* Public relations and<br />

communications<br />

* Financial, economic,<br />

the highest daily gain and the<br />

receive an honorary personalized<br />

jacket, advertising in<br />

college publications and<br />

events, an official receipt<br />

for a tax deductible donation,<br />

an enjoyable evening<br />

in their honor on December<br />

8 th at WSC’s Cowboy Christ-<br />

mas and the satisfaction of<br />

knowing they supported their<br />

local agriculture students and<br />

agriculture education at<br />

WSC.<br />

If you’re considering donating<br />

a steer, please keep<br />

in mind – All animals must<br />

be part of an acceptable vaccination<br />

program.<br />

steers will be October 22 –<br />

December 10 th .<br />

Cowboy Christmas will<br />

be held December 8 th at the<br />

WELL at WSC. <strong>The</strong>re will be<br />

several fun events taking<br />

place from 10AM to 9PM. All<br />

proceeds go towards the<br />

WSC Agriculture Club/Ambassadors.<br />

Gifts from the Heart December 15<br />

<strong>The</strong> annual Gifts from<br />

the Heart will be held December<br />

15 th to support those<br />

in need again this year. This<br />

is held by the Richland<br />

County Christmas Coalition<br />

to provide Christmas gifts and<br />

food boxes for those in need.<br />

Any individual that<br />

wishes to participate must reside<br />

in Richland County and<br />

have children (ages 0-18),<br />

that reside with them. <strong>The</strong> distribution<br />

will be on Saturday,<br />

December 15 th, from 7am<br />

until 2pm at the Masonic<br />

Lodge.<br />

If you would like to purchase<br />

a gift for donation, you<br />

may go to participating businesses<br />

and churches in<br />

Richland County, purchase a<br />

gift, pick out a tag, and the<br />

sponsor of the tree will deliver<br />

the gifts to the church.<br />

All children that receive<br />

gifts will also receive hats<br />

and mittens. If you would like<br />

to donate some, area banks<br />

will be collecting them.<br />

Food baskets will also be<br />

available for participants<br />

who need food for the holiday.<br />

Baskets for senior citizens<br />

will be distributed as<br />

need or you know of a senior<br />

ND Unfilled Doe Licenses<br />

No Longer Valid<br />

<strong>The</strong> North Dakota Game and Fish Department reminds<br />

deer hunters who did not fill an antlerless lottery license<br />

during the deer gun season, that these licenses are not valid<br />

during the upcoming muzzleloader season, or the remainder<br />

of the archery season.<br />

For several years prior to 2012, hunters with unfilled<br />

concurrent season antlerless licenses could continue hunting<br />

during the muzzleloader season, using a muzzleloader.<br />

Similarly, hunters could also use a bow during the remainder<br />

of the archery season to fill these licenses.<br />

All hunters were limited to one deer gun license this<br />

year. Since there are no concurrent season licenses, there is<br />

no provision to use an unfilled license to continue hunting<br />

during the muzzleloader or archery season. Only hunters<br />

with muzzleloader, archery or unfilled gratis licenses can<br />

participate in those respective seasons.<br />

Workshop Jan. 15<br />

On Tuesday January 15, Fred Miller, a Safety Specialist<br />

with the Montana Safety Bureau, will be at the Billings Job<br />

Service for a free employer workshop. Miller will address the<br />

safety issues Montana employers are currently facing and<br />

assist employers with creating their own safety plan in order<br />

to cut workers compensation costs. <strong>The</strong> workshop will be<br />

held from 10 until Noon at the Billings Job Service in Room<br />
