The Making of Old Charm
Every piece of our furniture is made from the finest selection of natural timber, the
character of which shows variation of grain, adding to its individual nature and
appearance. It is important to remember that small knots, grain and natural
colour variations are deliberately retained. The wear and tear with the passage
of time simply mellows and improves your furniture, adding character and
appeal. All Old Charm furniture is sold with a Lifetime Guarantee which is
the ultimate expression of confidence in the quality and durability of the products.
The Environment
Caring for the environment is an issue of great importance and at
Old Charm we ensure that all timber used is sourced from
sustainable and managed forests in Europe and North America.
In addition to this all areas of the business control and manage
waste in the most appropriate way and recycle wherever possible.
As part of our traditional values and continued responsibility to
the environment, we deliver our furniture wrapped in re-usable
protective blankets so there is no packaging to dispose of.
Furniture Care and Maintenance
Your furniture will develop character through the years with
very little effort on the part of the collector. Simple dusting, together
with the occasional use of a non-silicone based wax available from
any houseware store, will help to maintain the polished finish.
Natural beeswax is recommended for this. Polish in the direction of
the wood grain.
Hot plates, wet cups, etc., will mark surfaces even through a
tablecloth. Liquids spilt on the surface should be wiped off without
delay. If liquid soaks through to the wood, it can swell or stain the grain, or warp & de-laminate the
veneer (where it is used), which would require professional repair. Alcohol, perfume, after-shave and
medicines can cause severe damage to the finish.
Significant atmospheric conditions (dryness or dampness) should be avoided, and we advise
furniture should be kept out of direct sunlight and away from other heat or damp sources.
To ensure your furniture mellows evenly, it is advisable to move around any ornaments displayed on
top of furniture to avoid the possibility of marking. This fading is not a fault with the timber.
Hide and Upholstery Care
Our hide is lightly buffed, semi aniline leather finished with a blend of oils and wax to achieve a
cracked, almost distressed finish with a slight pull-up effect. Hides may be cleaned using a little
warm water with a hand soap. Do not use detergent or chemical polishes. We do not recommend
the use of leather creams. Upholstery cleaning should always be undertaken by a professional.
Wood Colours
All Old Charm pieces are available in 3 authentic finishes:
Light Oak, Tudor Brown or Vintage, as shown. Over time, these
mellow as the furniture matures.
There is also a choice of upholstery fabrics for dining chairs and
leather skivers for desks and bureaux.

covered by our Lifetime Guarantee,

Please note: the Lifetime Guarantee does
not apply to export orders. Should you
inadvertently damage your Old Charm
furniture, you may find it easier to have it
repaired by a local craftsman. We can
carry out repairs through your stockist,
but there would naturally be a cost for
this service.
Please note that all our sizes are approximate. As Wood Bros policy is one of continual improvement, we reserve the right to amend
specifications or to withdraw models without prior notice. Whilst every care has been taken, colour of timber finishes as illustrated
can only be as accurate as printing processes allow.
Showroom Information
Over the years, we have built up a first class reputation for customer care and
attention. Whilst sales are made through our network of stockists, unfortunately it
is impossible for even the largest outlet to stock the complete Old Charm range.
However, all our designs are on view at our Ware showroom and we welcome
visitors six days a week, between 9.30am and 4.30pm Monday - Friday, and
10.00am -3.00pm on Saturdays. (We are closed on public holidays.)
When visiting our showroom may we suggest the following:
◆Have your room dimensions available to aid decision making.
◆Bear in mind curtain and wall colourings to help with your fabric and wood colour
choices.
◆If travelling long distances it may be worth telephoning so that our Sales advisors
are prepared for your visit.
Please note: All orders will be placed through your local stockist but orders can
be taken at our showrooms. Nearest public transport is Ware Railway Station,
approximately a 5 minute walk.
