Our passion for woodworking began in 1908, and in many ways, we 

do business the way you’d expect a hundred-year-old company would: 

with integrity, craftsmanship and dedication to service. But having a 

century of experience doesn’t mean living in the past. We keep a close 

watch on the evolution of kitchen design, providing contemporary 

space and design solutions as well as adding new doors, finishes and 

accessories to our collection of timeless styles every year. 

This catalog features our full line of door styles, wood species, finishes 

and hardware options. It was designed both to inform and inspire you. 

And whether your perfect kitchen is an Old World masterpiece in 

ornate cherry, a Casual haven in hand-distressed hickory, or a 

Contemporary cook’s paradise in sleek maple, you can rest assured 

that each and every piece will be crafted with the wisdom and

UNDERSTANDING WOOD SPECIES 

The beauty of wood lies in its natural imperfections and 

subtle variations. Each species has its own unique 

characteristics, and your choice of woods can have a 

dramatic effect on the overall mood of your kitchen. 

With a century of woodworking experience behind us, 

we hand-select each piece of lumber used in our doors 

and drawer fronts to maximize the inherent beauty in 

each species and craft a kitchen of unsurpassed quality. 

Cherry 

With its fine grain and rich red undertones, cherry 

is the essence of elegance. Its association with fine 

furniture makes it a classic choice for Traditional 

and Old World looks, but its smooth surface also 

enhances Contemporary kitchens. Cherry’s most 

unique and desirable characteristic is the tendency 

to darken and mellow with age, looking richer and 

more luxurious with each passing year. 

Maple 

Naturally lustrous with a fine, straight grain that 

looks equally beautiful stained, glazed or painted, 

maple is extremely versatile and works in any décor. 

It is generally creamy white, varying from bright 

white to reddish brown. Maple ages to a light amber 

color and may contain small mineral streaks that are 

natural characteristics of the wood.

Hickory 

Hickory offers the most dramatic contrasts of all our 

woods. A single cabinet door can range in color from 

creamy white to deep brown and feature any number 

of distinctive specks, knots and streaks. This natural 

unpredictability gives hickory its charm and makes it 

ideal for rustic casual looks. 

Oak 

The rugged look of oak is unmistakable. Its bold 

grain varies from close-set lines to wide, open 

arches. Oak’s honest, straightforward appearance 

makes it especially suited to Casual and Traditional 

kitchens, while its incredible strength and durability 

ensure lasting beauty and quality. 

Quartersawn Oak 

The defining wood species of the Arts & Crafts 

and Mission movements, Quartersawn Oak has 

come to be identified with fine period furniture 

pieces. Quartersawn Oak is quartered and then cut 

at a 60 to 90-degree angle to the growth rings of the 

tree. This process exposes distinctive golden rays 

that randomly fleck across the vertical, close-knit 

grain pattern.

Thermofoil is also available as a low-maintenance 

alternative to hardwood. Thermofoil combines the 

look of painted cabinetry with the durability of 

thermally sealed vinyl on wood fiberboard.

The following pages feature an array of quality crafted door styles meticulously detailed in a variety of wood species and finishes. 

Door styles are grouped into five categories of distinctive profile variations: Raised, Flat, Beaded, Slab and Exclusive. These profile 

variations are based on the style of the center panel and will help narrow down your choices through the selection process. Each 

panel style has distinctive differences, just as each individual has their own unique taste and style.

SQUARE 

A square shape provides clean 

and simple lines for both base 

and wall cabinets. 

ARCH 

An arch shape on wall and tall cabinets 

can emulate an architectural detail or 

emphasize high ceilings. 

CATHEDRAL 

A cathedral arch portrays a more 

casual feel and adds interest to 

wall and tall cabinets. 

SHAPING YOUR STYLE 

In addition to the five categories of door styles, raised panel 

doors have a selection of center panel shapes to choose from. 

While versatile by design, some shapes are better suited for 

certain styles by adding more visual appeal to the overall 

look of your space. There are three main types available: 

square, arched and cathedral.

Yorktowne finishes are created with both the beauty and the longevity of your cabinetry in mind. Our doors and cabinets undergo up to a 14-step 

finishing process that not only lets the natural splendor of the wood shine through, but also protects against scuffs, dents, moisture and household 

chemicals. The finishes shown below are standard transparent wood stains that accent the distinctive grain of each piece. Create additional depth 

and accent the distinctive details of your particular door style by adding a hand-rubbed glaze. Glazing available on select species and door styles.

Whichever type of finish you select, remember to look at current samples of actual 

doors before you make your final decision. While we strive to be as accurate as 

possible, the chemical differences between printing inks and cabinet finishes mean 

we cannot guarantee exact color reproduction in our catalog.

Opal Accent 

Yorktowne accent and glaze finishes are unique additions to traditional wood stain. Accenting highlights the beauty of your 

cabinetry by defining select portions of doors, drawers and moldings. Glazing adds another dimension through a hand-wiped 

process. Glaze is applied over the base finish then is expertly wiped away with a soft cloth for a delicate coating overall while 

excess glaze adheres to corners, profile edges and detail areas. Accenting and Glazing available on select species and door styles.

CHARACTER FINISHES 

For a truly unique kitchen, select from one of our Character Finishes. These artful combinations of durable factory finishing and authentic hand 

craftsmanship create beautiful furniture-like finishes. Each aged finish begins with one of our standard finishes, complemented by a hand-rubbed 

glaze, then accented with a variety of character effects. Character Finishes are available on select door styles in cherry, maple, oak and hickory.
