Presenters: Dr . Frank Lee, Associate Professor, Computer Science; and Ms . Gena Rojas, Faculty Extension Agent, University
of Guam; Scott Johnson, Vice President, Nuventive
Facing economic challenges, rising expectations, and increased accountability to educate a workforce for the 21st
century, institutions are turning to institutional effectiveness initiatives that align academic and administrative programs with
the core mission and published vision of the institution . Fostering a culture of assessment and planning remains a challenge
as faculty and administration adapt to outcomes-based assessment and an increased focus on student success
This session will provide an overview of Nuventive’s TracDat outcomes assessment and planning application and how
it has been used at the University of Guam to prepare for WASC accreditation . The session will demonstrate how TracDat
has been used to collect strategic planning information in a central location, and to demonstrate links between institutional
level goals, college/division level goals, and departmental level goals . TracDat has also allowed the University’s academic
departments to perform curriculum mapping and to track the assessment of student learning outcomes across all courses .
Target Audience: Provosts, Deans, Academic Affairs, Institutional Research, Institutional Effectiveness, Assessment and
Accreditation Coordinators, Department Chairs, Faculty
Presenters: Erika Gregory, President; and Clark Kellogg, Principal, Collective Invention
Learning 2025 is an experiential work session designed to generate fresh thinking about
what 21st-century higher education should look like . Participants will receive the dossier of
a fictional (but research-based) persona, including demographic details, information about
his or her personal learning style, and a first-person account of aspirations and dilemmas .
Participants will spend part of the session working in character and exploring key differences
between personas . We will ask what kinds of support these learners need most . We will then
explore educational and geopolitical scenarios based on critical uncertainties related to US
higher education . Applying what we have learned in the earlier persona exercise, we will
analyze the scenarios and weigh implications for WASC institutions .
