No day is as eagerly anticipated as the first Sunday of April, the day of the Tour of 

Flanders. On this day, the sturdy thighs of Fabian Cancellara, the impenetrable gaze 

of Philippe Gilbert or the attacking spirit of Tom Boonen are the hottest topics of 

discussion. The Tour of Flanders brings everyone together, more than any other sporting 

event in Belgium. On Sunday, 1 April 2012, this monument of the cycling sport enters 

a new era. A contemporary, remarkable final crisscross through the Flemish Ardennes 

and a brand new finishing point in the imposing shadow of the renowned City Hall of 

Oudenaarde increase the likelihood of an unprecedented spectacle. 

On 1 April 2012, you get a front-row seat to catch all the action at the 96th Tour of

Bruges

VIP BREAKFAST BELFRY HALLS 

The Tour of Flanders starts - noblesse oblige - with a 

princely breakfast at the Belfry in Bruges. Meanwhile, 

the buses transporting the riders arrive around the 

corner. A short walk takes you to ’t Zand, where you 

can inspect the gleaming bicycles to your heart’s 

content and check out the legs of the Tour of Flanders 

favourites. Via an alternative route, you then arrive at 

the VIP area at the historical Market Square of Bruges. 

The riders will be presented, one by one, on the starting 

podium directly in front of you. The long haul to the 

finish in Oudenaarde can then get underway.

VIP BREAKFAST CONCERT HALL 

Rising up amid the medieval splendour of Bruges is 

a jewel of modern architecture, built some ten years 

ago: the Concert Hall. We lay on a sumptuous buffet 

breakfast for you in this magnificent building. The 

Concert Hall is an exceptional vantage point from 

which to watch ’t Zand, where the buses with the riders 

gradually arrive. It goes without saying that you will 

have a clear, close-up view of all the favourites and their 

perfectly tuned bicycles. From ’t Zand, it is just a short 

stroll to the Market Square of Bruges where the riders 

will line up to sign the starting sheet for the race and 

share with you their latest thoughts on their form and 

their chances.

Course

How would you like to drive out on the course, ahead 

of the race, while getting the inside track from a Tour 

connoisseur? No problem! This is also possible. Flanders 

Classics has several seats available in VIP cars or VIP 

buses. Your busy day begins with a hearty breakfast at 

the magnificent Concert Hall in Bruges. One and half 

hours before the race, you’ll be wandering around the 

riders’ enclosure on ’t Zand, mingling with the competitors, 

mechanics and team managers. Then your eyes will 

be popping out of your head in the reserved VIP area at 

Bruges’ Market Square, where at 10 a.m., the 96th Tour 

of Flanders will be officially kicked off. Once on the way, 

there will be several stops along the course to allow you 

to see the Tour of Flanders riders passing by. To keep you 

in racing mood, provisions (in the form of an XXL picnic 

lunch) will be available en route. More than anyone else in 

the convoy, you will be up-to-date with the latest news of 

the race, since all the VIP cars and VIP buses are equipped 

with TV screens. You can experience the crucial final 

stages in the Flanders Classics Club or in ultra-modern 

trailers in the finish area. Your unforgettable day in the 

heart of the Tour of Flanders will end on a high note with 

an impeccably stylish reception.

3X OUDE KWAREMONT FLANDRIEN 

The Tour of Flanders is, by nature, unpredictable. In 2012, 

the brand new final around Oudenaarde will definitely add 

an exceptional and special chapter to the volatile history 

of this race. The ascent that best symbolises the history of 

the Tour of Flanders is the Oude Kwaremont: forbidding, 

rugged and deceptive. A veritable curse. During the final 

laps, the riders have to tackle this three times over. This 

protected monument will soon become the port of call for 

thousands of enthusiasts with a love for cycling. Flanders 

Classics mobilises a wide array of resources for you. In 

a perfectly fitted-out, gigantic tent, typical Flemish food 

(what else!) will be served: Flemish-style beef stew with 

fries, hot ham off the bone, a lavish BBQ and much more. 

And of course, since it’s a Sunday, a dessert buffet is a must. 

Earplugs are certainly not a luxury on this day, as it could 

just be that Philippe Gilbert or Tom Boonen make the race 

take a decisive turn here on Sunday 1 April 2012 and are 

then lustily cheered on by the crowds towards Paterberg and 

Oudenaarde.

How crucial will the three climbs up the Oude Kwaremont 

be in determining the fate of the finale in the new-look 

Tour of Flanders? In the run-up to Sunday 1 April 2012, as 

well as in the days afterwards, this will be the prime topic 

of discussion. So, the best way to find out is by being there 

yourself, at the very spot. Flanders Classics offers a special 

lunch package that combines the best from the cycling and 

culinary worlds. The four-course menu forms the basis for 

an exceptional sporting afternoon which will reach its peak 

between three and four o’clock, when the riders, with less 

than 20 kilometres to go, draw on their last resources. The 

grand reception, right after the finish in Oudenaarde, will 

be more than welcome for letting off some steam.

Do you find the new role of the Oude Kwaremont in the Tour 

of Flanders course intriguing, but also enjoy the gradual 

build-up of excitement at the start, early in the morning 

at the centre of Bruges? No problem, Flanders Classics 

makes sure you reach both places comfortably. A delicious 

breakfast brunch early in the morning and then off you go to 

the riders’ enclosure or the VIP area in front of the starting 

podium for a last glimpse of the favourites. Who has slept 

well last night? Whose eyes are glinting with ambition? Who 

is throwing out a challenge to whom in the final podium 

interviews? At a cycling feast such as this, these are all at 

once the fundamental issues. As the peloton turns towards 

Torhout and Roeselare, a luxurious VIP bus takes you to the 

Oude Kwaremont. From your vantage point, you have an 

excellent view of the riders passing by three times during the 

closing laps. As the Tour of Flanders progresses, the stress

finish line at the Flanders Classics Club? The live TV 

broadcast of the 96th Tour of Flanders will start shortly 

after noon. You can catch every thrilling moment on the 

ultra-modern plasma screens, while you enjoy an array 

of delicate snacks, an open bar and a well-balanced 

programme of sideshows. In the course of the afternoon, 

you experience live the finish of the Women’s Tour of 

Flanders. Around 4.00 p.m., it is the turn of the pros.

best places at the finish line in Oudenaarde. Seated in 

this reserved area, you also have a clear view of the big

Late Gothic City Hall on the Market Square with its 

attractive central towers and stunning halls. Flanders 

Classics gives you a royal welcome, with champagne, 

a four-course lunch and a non-stop open bar. After you 

have taken in the start of the Women’s Tour of Flanders 

and the first hour of the live TV broadcast, we show 

you and your guests to your privileged places at the 

finish line. From here, you have an unsurpassed view 

of the entire finish area. Plasma screens ensure that 

you don’t miss a single moment of the race. Continuous 

catering is also provided here as well as an exquisite
