Ges Adams- 4 th , Waramaug<br />

A former camper through Moos, Ges is a recent graduate from Vassar. He was a member of the Vassar cross-country team.<br />

In Waramaug, he will be head of wrestling and sailing and will assist in martial arts, canoeing, climbing, and tennis.<br />

RJ Adler- 3 rd , Moosalamoo<br />

RJ comes from Greenwich, CT and will be a senior at Middlebury College. In Moosalamoo he will be the Kicker editor and<br />

will assist in many activities, particularly dramatics.<br />

Colin Ahearn- 6 th , Moosalamoo Assistant Director<br />

Colin, a graduate from the University of Montana, will be Assistant Director of Moosalamoo this summer. He will also be<br />

Camp Head of Windsurfing, Moos head of rock climbing, and will assist in kayaking, canoeing, and dramatics in<br />

Moosalamoo.<br />

Tim Anderson- 8 th , Waramaug<br />

Originally from Michigan and a graduate of Hope College, he is currently a 6th grade math & science teacher at Brandeis<br />

Hillel Day School in San Francisco. In Waramaug, he will be head of hiking and will assist in many activities.<br />

Amanda Belcher- 4 th , Office<br />

Songadeewin alumna and old timer, Amanda is a junior at Becker College. At camp she is a member of the office A-team.<br />

Alex Bezhaler-1 st , Moosalamoo<br />

Alex attended <strong>Keewaydin</strong> in Wiantinaug and Moos. He lives in the Philadelphia area and will be a sophomore at Drew<br />

University in the fall. In Moos he will assist in soccer, archery, tennis, basketball and more.<br />

Buddy Broda- 2 nd , Waramaug<br />

Buddy is former camper thru Moosalamoo. He comes from Dobbs Ferry, NY and will be a sophomore at University of<br />

Vermont. In Waramaug, he will share his wrestling skills with the campers and he will also assist in canoeing, ultimate,<br />

archery, riflery, soccer, climbing, and kayaking.<br />

Peter Burgeson, 1 st , Annwi<br />

Peter was a camper through the wilderness trip. He graduates from the Taft School this spring. In Annwi, he will assist in<br />

canoeing, hiking, baseball, swimming and riflery.<br />

Ron Cannell- 21 st year, Wiantinaug<br />

Ron has been on the staff in Wilderness, Moos and Wiantinaug and has directed Trip School for several others. He started<br />

the kayak program at camp. In the off-season, Ron is an engineering consultant and a leader of bike trips abroad. This<br />

summer he will be Camp Head of Kayaking.<br />

Daria Carden- 11 th , Office Manager<br />

A member of the <strong>Keewaydin</strong> Foundation office staff, Daria runs the camp office in the summer time. When she’s not in the<br />

office, she can frequently be found hiking the trails of Moosalamoo. Both of her daughters are Songa alumnae- her youngest<br />

went on the Wilderness trip last summer.<br />

Nan Carpenter- 6 th , Nurse<br />

Nan returns to <strong>Keewaydin</strong> first month as Camp Nurse. Her son Spence will be a Waramaug camper.<br />

Mike Cartledge, - 13 th , Stage Manager, A&C, driver, piano<br />

Mike was on the Waramaug staff from 1975-1985 and is now back for a third summer in his “new” <strong>Keewaydin</strong> career. He<br />

teaches middle school in Pennsylvania. At camp he will run the multi-house, assist in Arts & Crafts and help drive trips. He<br />

will also play the piano for us after dinner!<br />

Rachel Christopher- 1 st , Nurse (2 nd Half)<br />

Rachel comes to us from Revere, MA, where she is the school nurse at Paul Revere and Beachmont Elementary Schools.<br />

She found out about <strong>Keewaydin</strong> through her colleague at Revere, Chris Miller! Rachel’s son Brendan will be a camper in<br />

Waramaug


John Ciaputa-1 st , Waramaug<br />

John comes to us from the UK, where he is a medical student. In Waramaug, he will assist in soccer, swimming and fishing.<br />

He also brings to <strong>Keewaydin</strong> great culinary arts skills, which may come in handy on trips!<br />

Steve Clodgo- 4 th , Maitre D’<br />

Steve returns as Maitre‘d. In the fall and spring, he is the chef at KEEC. A resident of Vermont, Steve has been a chef for<br />

most of his career, including at the famous Dog Team Tavern.<br />

Johnny Clore- 7 th , Wiantinaug Assistant Director<br />

Johnny graduated from Princeton University in 2008 and teaches at the Gilman School in Baltimore. Next year he is headed<br />

off to graduate school ay Harvard, where he will pursue a MA in Education. Johnny is well known as our camp bugler. He<br />

will be Assistant Director of Wiantinaug and Camp Head of Wrestling and Canoeing.<br />

Anne Cluss- 5 th , Nurse<br />

Anne resides in Middlebury, VT and will be Camp Nurse this summer. Anne is the mother of alumni camper Charlie Cluss<br />

and has a daughter at Songadeewin! She also is a former wilderness tripper.<br />

Nick Cobb- 3 rd , Wiantinaug<br />

Nick comes from Bethlehem, PA and attends Northampton Community College. An avid outdoorsman, he has taken an<br />

Outward Bound course and is president of his ski team. In Wiantinaug he will be head of riflery and will assist in<br />

photography and soccer.<br />

Robin Dakin- 6 th , Annwi<br />

Robin comes to camp with his wife Amy and his two daughters Elise and Olivia. Robin teaches art in Dayton, Ohio. In<br />

Annwi, he will be head of riflery and hiking and will assist in canoeing and arts & crafts.<br />

Amy Dakin, 3rd, Tutoring, Office and A&C<br />

Amy (wife of Robin) will be helping out in the office and assisting with arts & crafts. Amy is bringing along her two<br />

daughters (Elise, 8 and Olivia, 9), who will be campers at Songadeewin.<br />

Thomas de Bruijn-1 st , Wiantinaug<br />

Thomas travels from his home in the Netherlands to work at camp this summer. An outdoors enthusiast, he will help in<br />

Wiantinaug in soccer, climbing, and swimming.<br />

George Desdunes- 1 st , Waramaug<br />

George returns to <strong>Keewaydin</strong> after having been a camper through Moosalamoo. He will be entering his sophomore year at<br />

Cornell in the fall. In Waramaug, he will assist in soccer, baseball, hiking, canoeing, basketball and swimming.<br />

Ty Dinnuci- 2 nd, Waramaug<br />

A former camper through Moos, Ty will be a junior at Bucknell University. He hails originally from West Hartford, CT. A<br />

swimmer and diver in high school, he will be head of Waramaug swimming and waterfront and will also assist in canoeing,<br />

ultimate, tennis, soccer, arts & crafts, and dramatics.<br />

Eddie Dobson- 21 st , Wiantinaug<br />

Traveler, adventurer, and explorer, Eddie is a <strong>Keewaydin</strong> legend. He is back in Wiantinaug this summer, where he will assist<br />

in exploration, canoeing, organize chess tournaments and tell wonderful campfire stories.<br />

Red Dows- 16 th , Waramaug, Camp Head of Exploration<br />

Red was a mainstay on the staff in the 1970’s and 80’s in Annwi, Waramaug and Wiantinaug. He spent most of his summers<br />

in Waramaug, where he was also assistant director for many summers. Red lives in Vermont and works for the Vermont<br />

Department of Education. This summer, he will be Camp Head of Exploration and will help in Waramaug.<br />

Dan Doynow- 1 st , Waramaug<br />

Dan will be a junior at Jacobs University in Germany. He joins the staff after being a camper in Moos and wilderness. In<br />

Waramaug, he will assist in wrestling, swimming, climbing and canoeing.<br />

Susan Foster- 1 st , Nurse (2 nd Half)<br />

Susan hails from Tucker, GA and will be one of our 2 nd half nurses. She has worked as an RN in a hospital for the past four<br />

years. A former camper, she is looking forward to a change of venue!


Meghan Fahey- 3rd, Child Care<br />

Meghan comes from Middlebury, VT and is a junior at Bates College. She will keep an eye on the young kids this summer!<br />

Abe Freiden- 2 nd , Annwi<br />

A native of New Haven, VT, Abe will enter his sophomore year at Denison College in the fall. In Annwi, he will be in<br />

charge of boxing and kayaking will assist in canoeing, baseball, ultimate, and kicker.<br />

Ofir Gefen-1 st , Moosalamoo<br />

Ofir comes to us through CCUSA. A native of Israel, he will join the Moos staff where he will head riflery and assist in<br />

sailing.<br />

Seth Gibson- 44 rd year, Head Driver, Wilderness Trip Coordinator<br />

The Wilderness Trip Director for many years, Seth continues to play a major role in that program as its coordinator. He is<br />

also the head driver, taking care of all transportation issues.<br />

Cressy Goodwin- Photography and Archives<br />

Cressy returns for another summer to help with photography and the camp archives!<br />

Owen Gutfreund- 27 th , Moosalamoo Director and Associate Director of <strong>Dunmore</strong><br />

Director of Moosalamoo since 1990, Owen is also the Associate Director of <strong>Dunmore</strong>. Owen is a history professor,<br />

specializing in urban studies at Hunter College in New York City. Owen and his wife Victoria have two children, Charlotte,<br />

19, who will be on the Songadeewin staff, and Willa, 15, who is a ninth year camper at Songa this summer.<br />

Victoria Gutfreund- 22 nd<br />

A talented artist and designer, Victoria helps in a myriad of ways at camp, such as planning new buildings, designing banquet<br />

menus and helping at the store. She has also tutored campers for many summers.<br />

Matt Hague- 3 rd , Wiantinaug<br />

Matt comes from Silver Springs, MD and just graduated from College of Wooster in Ohio. In college and high school he<br />

has been a leader in drama and journalism. He will be Camp Head of Ultimate Frisbee.<br />

Tim Halle- 1 st , Wiantinaug<br />

Tim was a camper through Wiantinaug. He rejoins Wiantinaug this summer as a staffman. A rising senior at Kenyon, in<br />

Wiantinaug, he will assist in tennis, soccer, hiking, canoeing, baseball, sailing, kayaking and archery.<br />

Diane Hare- 25 th year, Head of Tutoring and the <strong>Dunmore</strong> Choir<br />

Diane runs the tutoring program at camp. She also organizes a camper-staff choral group which enriches Sunday Circles and<br />

other occasions with their beautiful singing. Diane and her husband (Camp Director, Pete Hare) have three children:<br />

Jennifer, 23, a sixth year staff at Songa; Ali, 21, who will be fourth year staff at Songa this summer; and James, 15, a second<br />

year camper in Moosalamoo this summer.<br />

Laurie Hare- 35 th year, Head of Arts and Crafts<br />

For over 30 years, Laurie has made A&C one of the most popular activities at camp. Her talents go far beyond the confines<br />

of the arts and crafts building, however, as she helps out in many other ways, big and small. In the off-season she resides in<br />

Seattle, WA, where she is an occupational therapist.<br />

Pete Hare- 32 nd year, Camp Director<br />

Pete became Camp Director in 2001 after many years on staff, including eleven as Wiantinaug Director. He is also the<br />

Executive Director of the <strong>Keewaydin</strong> Foundation. A history and Spanish teacher for 19 years, he lives in<br />

Middlebury,Vermont with his family.<br />

Waboos Hare-88 th year<br />

Once again Waboos will be holding court in the Hare House. He is always prepared to greet campers, staff and alumni to<br />

talk about camp life and camp history. He continues to inspire us with his wisdom, his joy for camp and his “thoughts for<br />

the day.” Waboos was director of <strong>Keewaydin</strong> 1946-2000.<br />

Larry Hayes- 17 th , Riflery and Archery<br />

Larry and his wife, Marianne live in Waynesboro, PA. Retired after 30+ year career in environmental education, Larry is<br />

Camp Head of Riflery and Archery.


Marianne Hayes- 15 th , Store<br />

Marianne is enjoying retirement, after a career as an elementary art teacher. She has worn many hats at camp. This summer<br />

she will be back in the Store!<br />

Stephen Hildreth- 6 th , Waramaug Director<br />

Stephen is Waramaug Director. In the off-season, he teaches Humanities at the Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, NY. His son<br />

Christopher (15) will be a camper in Moosalamoo, son Owen (12) will be in Wiantinaug, son Denis (9) will be in Annwi and<br />

daughter Grace (13) will be in her fourth year at Songa.<br />

Nancy Hildreth- 5 th , A&C<br />

Nancy, a teacher in the off-season, is the wife of Stephen and mother of Christopher, Owen, Denis and Grace. Nancy helps<br />

in arts and crafts.<br />

James Hogan- 3 rd , Wiantinaug<br />

James completed his junior year at Hamilton College in upstate New York and will be back on the Wiantinaug staff this<br />

summer for the second half. A former camper through Moos, he will assist in canoeing, sailing, climbing, basketball, tennis,<br />

archery, riflery, and boxing.<br />

Rick Hopkins- 3 rd , Waramaug Assistant Director (2 nd half)<br />

Rick is a physical education teacher and coach for the Williamsville Central School District in the Buffalo, NY area. Before<br />

his teaching career, he was a sports anchor for a mid-market television network. He will be Camp Head of Soccer and will<br />

help out in swimming, basketball, baseball, tennis, archery, volleyball, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, wrestling, and climbing.<br />

He will also be Assistant Director of Waramaug second half.<br />

Paul Jacobs- 14 th , Wilderness<br />

Paul rejoined the staff in 2003 after a twenty year hiatus. He was a camper through wilderness and, later, a staffman in<br />

Wiantinaug and on wilderness. This summer he will lead the second Wilderness Trip in Quebec. Paul lives in Virginia,<br />

where he is a software consultant.<br />

Jared Joyner- 1 st , Wiantinaug<br />

A rising sophomore at Johnson and Wales University in Florida, who majors in culinary arts, Jared comes back to camp after<br />

a camper career that took him through one year of Moos. In Wiantinaug, he will help with boxing, baseball, basketball,<br />

canoeing, archery and more.<br />

Nick Kramer- 2 nd , Moosalamoo<br />

Nick returns to the Moos staff after a couple of summers off. He is a recent graduate of Amherst College. In Moos, he will<br />

assist in canoeing, soccer, hiking, archery and other activities.<br />

Nathan Kress- 3 rd , Moosalamoo<br />

A graduate of Hobart College, Nathan currently teaches the 9th grade world history and<br />

11th grade US history and is head boys crew coach as well as the coach of the Debate Team at<br />

Episcopal High School of Jacksonville. In Moosalamoo, he will head hiking and sailing, and assist in baseball, soccer and<br />

tennis.<br />

Adebola Kuye- 1 st , Annwi<br />

A former student of Patrick Wade at the Westtown School in PA, Adebola just completed his freshman year at CUNY<br />

College. In Annwi, he will head basketball and wrestling. Adebola comes from New York City.<br />

Charlie Laud- 1 st , Waramaug<br />

Charlie comes from New Jersey, where he graduates this spring from the Pingry School. Charlie was a camper through<br />

Moosalamoo. In Waramaug, he will assist in dramatics, canoeing, riflery and arts and crafts.<br />

Matt Laud- 3 rd , Annwi<br />

Matt was a camper for six years and then went on wilderness. He will be Camp Head of Dramatics and Annwi head of<br />

canoeing. He will be a senior at Boston College.<br />

Cilla Leng- 11 th , Business Manager<br />

Cilla works for <strong>Keewaydin</strong> year-round as Business Manager. Since she is in charge of payroll, it is prudent to treat her<br />

kindly!


Sam Lewis- 1 st , Moosalamoo<br />

Sam is a rising sophomore at Colgate University. A former Moos and wilderness camper, he calls Texas home. In Moos, he<br />

will assist in baseball and soccer.<br />

Ian Lopez- 3 rd , Moosalamoo<br />

Ian began at <strong>Keewaydin</strong> in Wiantinaug, and continued on through Moosalamoo and wilderness. In Moosalamoo he will be<br />

head of archery and will assist in canoeing, hiking, and arts and crafts. Ian comes from Dobbs Ferry, NY.<br />

Ned Lurie- 1 st , Waramaug<br />

A former camper through Moos, Ned is a Bostonian who attends Brandeis. In Waramaug, he will assist in wrestling,<br />

kayaking, canoeing, and sailing.<br />

Richard Mable- 1 st , Annwi<br />

A native of Connecticut, Rich graduated this spring from Hobart College, where he was captain of the crew team. Rich will<br />

be in Annwi, where he will head exploration and sailing.<br />

Anne Mackay- 4 th , Annwi, tutoring<br />

Anne returns with husband Drew for her fourth season at camp. She will be helping out in Annwi and tutoring. Anne<br />

teaches at the Buckingham Brown and Nichols School in Cambridge, MA. She will be bringing along the newest addition to<br />

the Mackay family, little JD who was born December 12, 2009.<br />

Drew Mackay, 8 th , Annwi Director (2 nd Half)<br />

Drew will be Annwi Director second month this summer. In the off season, he is a teacher at the Shady Hill School in<br />

Cambridge, MA. He is excited to lead the “Annwi Crew”!<br />

Julian Mangano- 1 st , Wiantinaug<br />

Julian, a native of Ohio, recently graduated from Wooster College. A member of the varsity basketball team at Wooster, he<br />

will help in basketball in Wiantinaug, as well as baseball, dramatics and soccer.<br />

Frank Matt- 4 th , Wiantinaug<br />

A native of New Hartford, NY, Matt completed his junior year at Hamilton College. He brings to <strong>Keewaydin</strong> extensive Boy<br />

Scout experience and activity skills. He will be Camp Head of Orienteering and Wiantinaug head of swimming and<br />

waterfront. He will assist in canoeing, soccer, sailing, and climbing.<br />

Scott McCurdy- 11 th , Wiantinaug Director<br />

This is Scott’s seventh year at the helm in Wiantinaug. A fifth grade teacher at Brentwood Elementary School in California,<br />

he is joined at camp by his wife Jessica, and their three boys, Will (11), Caleb (9) and Nathan (8). Will returns to Waramaug,<br />

Caleb to Annwi and Nathan will be a day camper in Annwi.<br />

Jessica McCurdy- 8 th<br />

Jessica is back with her family for an eighth summer on <strong>Dunmore</strong>. She is excited that all her boys will be campers this<br />

summer! In the off season, she is an elementary school teacher in CA. Jessica also puts together the camp scrapbook.<br />

Chris Miller- 7 th , Wiantinaug<br />

Chris, a Boston MA native, is a Middle School teacher at the Paul Revere Elementary School outside of Boston. Chris has<br />

much athletic talent and coaching experience. He is Camp Head of Basketball and Baseball and helps in soccer and many<br />

others. His wife Heather, their daughter Emily (4) and their son Zachery (born April 22, 2009) will also be at camp!<br />

Heather Miller- 6 th<br />

Heather joins her husband Chris for her 6th year at <strong>Dunmore</strong>. During the year she teaches at Garfield Elementary School.<br />

She looks forward to spending time at camp with their 4 year old daughter, Emily Ann and their 1 year old son Zachery.<br />

Rich Morgan- 3 rd , Moosalamoo<br />

Rich was camper through Moosalamoo. In Moosalamoo he will head kayaking, the waterfront and orienteering. Rich comes<br />

from Richmond, VA and has completed his junior year at the University of Colorado.<br />

Sam Moritz- 2 nd , Waramaug<br />

Sam comes from Westport, CT and will be a junior at Allegheny College. The oldest of three brothers to attend <strong>Keewaydin</strong>,<br />

he was a camper through Moosalamoo. In Waramaug, he will head baseball and assist in dramatics, kicker, basketball,<br />

soccer, archery, and ultimate.


Jesse Mostoller- 3 rd , Moosalamoo<br />

Jesse was a camper through wilderness and Africa. He has completed his junior year at UVM. Jesse is originally from<br />

Princeton, NJ. In Moosalamoo he will be in charge of canoeing and will help out with sailing, boxing, archery, basketball,<br />

wrestling and rock climbing.<br />

John Negus- 1 st , Wiantinaug<br />

John graduated from Northeastern University in 2009. He was a camper at <strong>Keewaydin</strong> thru Wiantinaug. In Wiantinaug this<br />

summer, he will assist in canoeing, hiking, basketball, Frisbee, kayaking, climbing and archery.<br />

Jake Nice- 2 nd , Wiantinuag<br />

Jake hails from Carmel, Indiana and attends Villanova University, where he is a junior. He was a camper through<br />

Wiantinuag and returned for wilderness. In Wiantinaug he will be head of archery and will assist in tennis, riflery, sailing,<br />

hiking, rocketry, and canoeing.<br />

Dan Paltiel- 2 nd , Moosalamoo<br />

A Connecticut resident, Dan was a camper through Moosalamoo. A former Talllman winner, he will play a big role in<br />

canoeing. He will also head Moos soccer and assist in swimming, kayaking, tennis, ultimate and baseball.<br />

Becky Patch- 24 th , Tutor<br />

Becky is an elementary school teacher in Asheville, NC. At camp she will assist with tutoring.<br />

Steve Patch- 31 st , Caretaker of Moosalamoo and Paddling Specialist<br />

We welcome Steve back to camp after several summers away. He will manage the trails on Mt. Moosalamoo, as well as<br />

teach canoeing, kayaking and white water paddling. In the off-season, he is a math professor at UNC, Asheville. He will be<br />

joined at camp by his wife Becky. Their daughter Stephanie will be on the Songa staff.<br />

Alex Petersen- 1 st , Annwi<br />

Alex recently finished his sophomore year at Bucknell University. He lives in Connecticut and discovered <strong>Keewaydin</strong><br />

through Sam Moritz. In Annwi, he will head tennis and archery and assist in soccer, swimming and exploration.<br />

Ashley Phillips- 3 rd , Wiantinaug.<br />

Ashley comes from Winchester, England, where he hopes to have a career in a sports related field. He received a Junior<br />

Sports Leader Award for his work with primary school children. He will be Camp Head of Tennis and will assist in<br />

Wiantinaug in soccer, dramatics and swimming.<br />

Jake Pirkkanen- 5 th , Annwi<br />

Jake, a native of Salisbury, Vermont, attends Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA, where he is studying pre-med with a<br />

focus on bio-chemistry and religious studies. In Annwi, he will assist in canoeing, archery, kayaking, dramatic and<br />

exploration.<br />

Yuriy Porotnikov- 1 st , Wiantinaug<br />

Yuriy comes to us from Kazakhstan through CCUSA. He has been a kindergarten teacher and has taught English. In<br />

Wiantinaug, he will be head of climbing and will assist with swimming.<br />

Ben Ramsey- 4 th , Waramaug<br />

Ben comes from Geneva, NY and is a graduate of Hobart College. At college he was a member of the Crew Team. He will<br />

be Camp Head of Rock Climbing and will assist with baseball, basketball, canoeing, and photography.<br />

Ben Ramseyer-1 st , Wiantinaug<br />

Ben just graduated from Bucknell University. A native of New Jersey, he found out about camp from Ty Dinnuci. In<br />

Wiantinaug, he will head dramatics and assist in basketball, archery, riflery and exploration. There is no truth to the rumor<br />

that he is a better version of Ben Ramsey.<br />

Ben Ramseyest, 1 st , Moos<br />

Just seeing if you’re still paying attention.<br />

Lee Randlett- 8 th , Director of Facilities<br />

Lee brings a wealth of experience as a facilities manager and construction manager to <strong>Keewaydin</strong>. He and his crew are<br />

responsible for how great the campus looks!


Nathan Rasmussen- 2 nd , Waramaug<br />

Nathan comes to us from Loveland, OH and is a sophomore at Miami of Ohio and a friend of Bennett Werner. An Eagle<br />

Scout, he has extensive camping experience. In Waramaug he will head exploration and assist in ultimate, climbing,<br />

baseball, basketball, and riflery.<br />

Graham Robertson- 2 nd Wiantinaug<br />

Graham was a camper from Waramaug through Moos and then returned for the wilderness and Tanzania trips. He lives in<br />

London, England and attends Georgetown University, where he is a sophomore. In Wiantinaug he will assist in sailing,<br />

canoeing, baseball, soccer, tennis and hiking.<br />

Paul Ruderhausen, 8 th , Wilderness<br />

Paul is a wildlife and fisheries researcher at North Carolina State University. This summer he will be leading a trip down the<br />

Peribonca River in Quebec with Peter Wright.<br />

Stephanie Sack- 19 th , Camp Head of Waterfront<br />

Stephanie lives in Washington, D.C. where she teaches elementary school art at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School. She has<br />

been a loyal staff member serving first as the camp babysitter and then becoming the head of the waterfront.<br />

Nate Salzman- 1 st , Wiantinaug<br />

Nate was a camper through Moosalamoo. He graduated from high school in Rochester, NY this spring. In Wiantinaug, he<br />

will assist in wrestling, canoeing, basketball, baseball and dramatics.<br />

Andrew Scott- 1 st , Waramaug<br />

Andrew was a camper through Wiantinaug and is currently a student at Kenyon College, where he will be entering his senior<br />

year in the fall. In Waramaug, he will head tennis and assist in canoeing, kayaking, climbing, soccer and more.<br />

Kyle Sauer- 2 nd , Annwi<br />

A junior at Boston University, Kyle calls Naperville, Illinois his home. This summer he will be the Editor of the Kicker. A<br />

varsity swimmer in high school will assist in swimming, dramatics, climbing, and hiking.<br />

Ben Schmidt- 1 st , Waramaug<br />

A native of York, PA and former classmate of Bill Souser and Andy Beck, Ben graduated from Colgate in 2009. He recently<br />

spent five months in Beijing, China as a property consultant. In Waramaug he will head kayaking and assist in soccer,<br />

sailing, climbing and orienteering.<br />

Igor Sdvijkov- 16 th , Fresh Food, Laundry, Camp Games, Piano<br />

Igor returns to us from Russia for another summer. He started on the Moos staff, moved to Waramaug and now wears many<br />

hats at camp, mainly as Igor King of Fresh Food. His older son, Max, will be on staff and his younger son, Mathew, will be<br />

in Waramaug.<br />

Max Sdvijkov- 2 nd , Waramaug<br />

Max “grew up” at camp and was a camper from Annwi through Moos. He is currently a sophomore in college in Russia<br />

studying history. In Waramaug, he will be head of archery and riflery, and assisting in climbing, canoeing, A&C, wrestling,<br />

boxing, and swimming.<br />

Ben Smith- 5 th , Waramaug<br />

A graduate of Columbia University, currently Ben lives in Ft. Collins, CO., where he has been working as a<br />

counselor/teacher. With a strong background in music and theatre, he will assist in dramatics, as well as swimming, soccer,<br />

rock climbing, backpacking, and arts and crafts. An accomplished piano player, we can expect to see him help with songs in<br />

the dining hall.<br />

Bill Souser- 5 th , Wiantinaug<br />

Bill was a camper at <strong>Keewaydin</strong> through wilderness. He hails from York, PA and just graduated from Middlebury College.<br />

In high school he had much experience in student government and theatre. He will head Wiantinaug exploration and the<br />

Kicker and assist in numerous activities. He will also help play the piano for after-dinner songs!<br />

Ben Stone- 4 th , Annwi<br />

Ben comes from Bernardsville, NJ and just graduated from the College of Wooster. In Annwi, he will head orienteering and<br />

the swim program, and will assist in kayaking, canoeing, fishing, archery, and tennis.


Tim Tadlock- 11 th , Head of Tripping and KEEC<br />

Tim works full time at <strong>Keewaydin</strong>. He is the Director of the <strong>Keewaydin</strong> Environmental Education Center during the year<br />

and is Head of Tripping during the summer. A graduate of Prescott College, he has a wealth of knowledge of environmental<br />

education.<br />

Mike Thornton- 17 th , Waramaug Assistant Director (1 st Half)<br />

Mike lives in Fair Haven, VT and is a career elementary school teacher. He will be Assistant Director of Waramaug first half<br />

and Waramaug head of canoeing. His son Colby will be an Annwi camper.<br />

Mikey Ursu- 1 st , Waramaug<br />

Mikey lives in New Jersey and attends college in CA at Occidental College. He was a camper through Moosalamoo. In<br />

Waramaug, he will be the Kicker editor and will assist in soccer, swimming, A&C, drama and more. He plays the guitar and<br />

piano.<br />

Mike Vorenberg- 9 th , Historian<br />

A former camper and staff and author of “Faithful and True, 100 Years at <strong>Dunmore</strong>”, Mike will be back as Camp Historian.<br />

You may find him out in a canoe once in a while also!<br />

Tom Vorenberg- 17 th , Annwi Director (1 st Half)<br />

This will be Tom’s eighth summer at the helm of Annwi. He has also been a Waramaug staffman and the leader of two<br />

<strong>Keewaydin</strong> trips to Tanzania, Africa. In the off-season, Tom teaches social studies at the Germantown Friends School in<br />

Philadelphia.<br />

Lois Wack- 7 th , Office, driving<br />

Lois helps Daria keep the <strong>Keewaydin</strong> office in order and she drives trips. Her son, Trever, will be a camper in Wiantinaug.<br />

Peter Wack- 8 th , Wiantinaug<br />

Peter was a staffman back in the 1980’s and returned to the Wiantinaug staff five years ago. In the “off season” he is a state<br />

trooper in Connecticut. He will assist in hiking, canoeing, riflery, wrestling, swimming and many other activities.<br />

Patrick Wade- 7 th , Annwi Assistant Director (1 st Half)<br />

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Patrick is a teacher at the Westtown School in PA. He will be Assistant<br />

Director of Annwi first half and will assist in drama, art, basketball and more.<br />

Jack Waring- 15 th , Wangan Room<br />

A resident of Boyertown, PA, Jack returned to camp twelve years ago to take over the wangan room with his wife Moogie.<br />

Now we won’t let them go. He is a retired high school guidance counselor. Jack was a staffman back in the 50’s. He keeps<br />

all the camp trip equipment in great shape. In the off-season he keeps busy substitute teaching and rooting for the<br />

Philadelphia Eagles!<br />

Moogie Waring- 13 th , Wangan Room<br />

Jack’s better half, Moogie looks after the food in the wangan room. Moogie has been enjoying spending as much time as<br />

possible with their grandchildren.<br />

Bennett Werner- 3 rd , Waramaug<br />

Bennett was a camper for five years through Moosalamoo and then went on wilderness. In Waramaug he will head dramatics<br />

and will assist in many activities, especially canoeing, archery and riflery. Bennett comes from Loveland, OH and has<br />

completed his sophomore year at Columbia College in Chicago.<br />

Chris White- 4 th , Moosalamoo<br />

Chris comes from Dedham, MA and completed his junior year at University of Vermont. A camper from Annwi through<br />

Moosalamoo, he will be head of dramatics and boxing in Moos and will assist in canoeing, soccer, kayaking, and baseball.<br />

Alex Wilde- 4 th , Wilderness<br />

Alex comes from Dobbs Ferry, NY, and attends American University in Washington, D.C., where he will be a senior next<br />

fall. He was camper through the wigwams and went on two wilderness trips. He will be assistant wilderness trip leader with<br />

Paul Jacobs on the Eastmain River Trip this summer. When he returns from the woods, he will help in Wiantinaug.<br />

Michael Williams-1 st , Wiantinaug<br />

Another former student of Patrick Wade, Michael just finished his freshman year at Ursinus College in PA, where he is a<br />

member of the wrestling team. In Wiantinaug, he will assist in wrestling, baseball, A&C, Kicker and basketball.


Parker Williams-1 st , Waramaug<br />

Parker is a recent grad of American University, where he learned of <strong>Keewaydin</strong> from Alex Wilde. In Waramaug he will<br />

assist in tennis, baseball and riflery.<br />

Ken Woodard- 15 th , Wiantinaug Director 2 nd month<br />

Ken is a high school history teacher extraordinaire in Washington, D.C. A staff in Annwi in 1981, he returned to work in<br />

Wiantinaug from 1987-1991. In his third <strong>Keewaydin</strong> life, he is back with his wife Terri and his two kids, Luke and Lauren.<br />

Luke, 14, will be a Moosalamoo camper, while Lauren, 13, will be a camper at Songa. This summer Ken will be Wiantinaug<br />

Director during the second half of the summer. A famed hiker of the trails of Moosalamoo, he is Camp Head of Hiking.<br />

Terri Woodard- 10 th , Tutor<br />

Terri is an elementary school teacher during the off-season. Here at camp she helps with tutoring at <strong>Dunmore</strong> and arts and<br />

crafts at Songadeewin.<br />

Peter Wright- 8 th , Wiantinaug<br />

A former camper through wilderness, Peter graduated from Union College in 2007. In the off season, he teaches high school<br />

math at the Thomas Jefferson School in St. Louis, MO. This summer, Peter will be assistant wilderness trip leader with Paul<br />

Rudershausen on the Peribonca River Trip.<br />

John Zink- 3 rd Moosalamoo<br />

John comes from Dobbs Ferry, NY and attends SUNY. John has much outdoor experience and was once captain of his high<br />

school wrestling team. In Moosalamoo, he will head wrestling, basketball, martial arts and swimming and will assist in<br />

climbing.
