ASSISTANT COACH<br />
In his second season as the team’s number one assistant coach … now in his 15th<br />
overall season with the Spurs and his 13th season as an assistant coach … he and<br />
R.C. Buford have enjoyed the longest tenure on the Spurs basketball operations staff<br />
(they were both hired by Gregg Popovich in the summer of 1994) … started with<br />
the Spurs as the team’s video coordinator … served in that position for two seasons<br />
before being named an assistant coach in the summer of 1996 … has served as the<br />
head coach of the Spurs summer league squads on numerous occasions … served<br />
as an advance scout for Team USA for the 2004 Olympics … a four-year letterman<br />
in both basketball and golf at Pomona-Pitzer … named the Outstanding Senior Athlete at Pomona College<br />
in 1992–93 … during the 1993–94 season, played professionally in Denmark for the Vejle Basketball Klub,<br />
averaging a team-high 27.5 points per game … at that time got his start in coaching, serving as the head coach<br />
for two different teams within the Vejle system … his father, Vince, spent 25 years as a high school and college<br />
basketball coach in Arizona before retiring in 1997 … the youngest of seven children … a native of Holbrook,<br />
Arizona … received his bachelor’s degree in 1993 in politics, philosophy and economics from Pomona College<br />
… he and wife, Mary Bet, have four children: William Vincent, Savoia Elizabeth (Libby), Hanna Louise and<br />
John Bent.<br />

ASSISTANT COACH<br />
Named an assistant coach on June 28, 2004 … brings 20 years of coaching<br />
experience to the Spurs staff … spent five seasons as an assistant coach at<br />
Washington State (during which time he obtained his master’s in education) …<br />
named the head coach at Sacramento State in 1992 … after five full seasons as the<br />
Hornets’ head coach, joined the basketball staff at Arizona State in May of 1997 …<br />
in October of 1997 named the interim head coach … led the Sun Devils to a 18-14<br />
record and a trip to the NIT Tournament … served as an assistant at Oregon during<br />
the 1998–99 campaign … made his jump to the <strong>NBA</strong> in the summer of 1999 being<br />
named an assistant with Milwaukee … after four seasons with the Bucks joined the New Jersey Nets in August<br />
of 2003 as an assistant coach … served as an assistant for USA Basketball for the 2002 World Championships<br />
… played three seasons of basketball at University of Idaho (after spending his freshman year at LSU) … drafted<br />
by two <strong>NBA</strong> teams: selected by Indiana in the fourth round of the 1979 Draft (as a junior eligible selection) and<br />
by Boston in the third round of the 1980 Draft … was the Celtics final cut in 1980 … played three seasons in<br />
the CBA (for the Montana Golden Nuggets where George Karl was his head coach) … played seven seasons<br />
in the CFL … was in training camp with both the Seattle Seahawks and the New York Jets … after his playing<br />
days were over received his bachelor’s in physical education from Idaho in 1987 … while working on his degree<br />
served as a high school basketball and football coach … he and his wife, Simone, have five daughters: Ingrid,<br />
Chandi, Lauren, Devan and Alexandria.<br />
BRETT BROWN<br />
ASSISTANT COACH<br />
Moved to the bench as an assistant coach prior to the 2006–07 season … spent the<br />
previous five seasons as the team’s assistant coach/director of player development<br />
… joined the Spurs in July of 2002 after spending 14 seasons coaching in the<br />
Australian National Basketball League … in nine seasons as a head coach in the<br />
NBL, amassed 149 career victories (the sixth highest total in NBL history) … started<br />
as an assistant coach with the Melbourne Tigers under Lindsay Gaze … was named<br />
head coach of the North Melbourne Giants in 1993 … earned NBL Coach of the<br />
Year honors in 1994 when he led the Giants to the National Championship … spent<br />
the 1998–99 season working in the Spurs basketball operations department … then returned to Australia as<br />
the head coach of the Sydney Kings … after three seasons with the Kings he re-joined the Spurs … served as<br />
an assistant coach for the Australian National Team for eight years (including both the 1996 and 2000 Olympic<br />
Games as well as the 1998 World Championships) … son of New England Basketball Hall of Fame Coach,<br />
Bob Brown … played four seasons at Boston University under Rick Pitino … named team MVP his sophomore<br />
year and served as team captain in both his junior and senior seasons … met and married his wife, Anna, in<br />
Australia… they have two daughters, Julia and Laura, and a son, Sam.
