ING DIRECT Appoints State Street for New Superannuation Product
SYDNEY, 26 September 2012 – State Street Corporation (NYSE:STT) announced today that ING DIRECT has
appointed State Street as custodian and investment manager for its new personal superannuation product, Living
Super.
State Street will provide custody and administration services including fund accounting, taxation, regulatory
reporting, unit pricing and corporate actions. State Street Global Advisors has been appointed investment manager
for the managed investments, excluding cash.
The appointment follows ING DIRECT’s launch of Living Super, a new personal superannuation product intended to
provide members with control, fee transparency and simplicity.
Ian Martin, senior vice president and head of State Street’s Global Markets and Global Services businesses for
Australia and New Zealand said the appointment was another endorsement of State Street’s superannuation
solutions.
“The Australian superannuation industry is undergoing a significant period of change in response to regulatory
pressures and the shifting demands of investors. In particular members are demanding lower costs, greater
transparency and more control over their superannuation investments. These requirements are presenting
challenges to some funds but creating opportunities for others.
“ING DIRECT has responded to this opportunity with the launch of Living Super, which offers a unique low-cost
proposition for Australian superannuation investors. We are proud to partner with ING DIRECT and support the
launch and growth of its new direct superannuation product. We are continuously expanding our suite of
superannuation solutions and are well positioned to help ING DIRECT as its super product grows.
“In particular we have focused on developing proprietary technology and analytical services to help super funds
respond to the evolving superannuation environment and meet the demand for increased transparency and control.”
ING DIRECT is the third superannuation client to appoint State Street in the last year. State Street successfully
completed the transition of Sunsuper in July and will transition QSuper later this year. State Street’s other Australian
superannuation clients include REST Industry Super and NGS Super.
