Clear View Wind in my hair. Windows rolled down. Music blaring, not caring, I’m still leaving. Leaving this town. Rearview mirror, smooth glass, no smudges, no cracks, just a doorway to the past, Holding in so much pain in the rectangular reflection. The past, what was is no more, the boy, the town, the love. I left him standing there without a glance back, he didn’t see it coming. He just stared ahead as the cloud of smoke disappeared into the shadows. The boy I left behind, the home I burnt down, memories too hard to face. My perfect life shattered. Windshield, not so clear, one crack, a lot of wear and tear, Uncertainties, beside the bright possibilities, The future, what lies ahead on this road?
