6 Winter 2011 National Notes Third Annual O∆K Faculty Officer Seminar ~ Lexington, VA Join us in Lexington, Virginia on March 1-2, 2012 for a two-day discussion session on key officer topics. USA Today College This fall, USA Today and O∆K entered a partnership that allows our members to become personal correspondents for the USA Today College online website. Ten O∆K members were chosen as correspondents to kick off the inaugural semester. ExtensionNews The Omicron Delta Kappa Society continues to grow with the addition of seven new Circles this fall. Each are listed below with their installation date and installing officer. Congratulations to our newest Circles and their founding members! Chatham University On October 6, 2011, Vice President for Extension Andristine Robinson served as the installing officer for our 359th Circle at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Fifteen students, faculty and staff were initiated and the charter was officially dedicated. Seton Hall University Neumann University Pictures were not available at the time of print for the following Circles’ installations. They will be featured in the spring edition of The Circle. Doane College in Crete, Nebraska Installed on November 29, 2011 by Executive Director, Thomas G. Goodale. College of Charleston in Charleston, South Carolina Installation is scheduled for December 1, 2011 with Ken Taylor presiding. Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Massachusetts Installation is scheduled for December 9, 2011 with Thomas G. Goodale presiding. On October 6, 2011, Associate Executive Director Ken Taylor installed our 360th Circle at Neumann University in Aston, Pennsylvania. The charter was dedicated and forty-two students, faculty, staff and alumni were initiated before a large crowd of campus supporters. Union College On October 30, 2011, Vice President for Circle Standards, Michael Christakis installed our 362nd Circle at Union College in Schenectady, New York. Forty-five students, faculty and staff were initiated and the charter was presented. On October 8, 2011, Associate Executive Director Ken Taylor installed our 361st Circle at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. The charter was signed by twenty-two students, faculty, staff and alumni who become the founding members of the Circle. Recalled Charters It is with regret that we announce the recalled charters of the following Circles: DePaul University, East Tennessee State University, Heidelberg University, Oklahoma State University, University of Redlands and West Virginia State University. These charters will be held in the care at in the National Archives until the time comes to reestablish the Circle.
