The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh - Annual Report and Accounts for the year to 31 March 2012 Remuneration Comparison The banded remuneration of the highest paid ‘director’ at RBGE in the financial year 2011-12 was £95-100k (2010-11 £100-105k). The median of this range was 4.5 times (2010-11 4.6 times) the median remuneration of the workforce, which was £21,805 (2010-11 £22,453). In 2011-12, 0 employees received remuneration in excess of the highest paid director, the same figure as for 2010-11. Remuneration ranged from £14,091 to £95-100k, also the same figures as for 2010-11. Total remuneration includes salary, non-consolidated performance-related pay, and benefits in kind, as well as severance payments. It does not include employer pension contributions and the cash equivalent transfer value of pensions. The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh - Annual Report and Accounts for the year to 31 March 2012 Statement of Board’s And Regius Keeper’s Responsibilities Under section 20 of schedule 2 of the National Heritage (Scotland) Act 1985, the Board of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is required to prepare, in accordance with best commercial practice, a consolidated statement of accounts dealing with the RBGE and its subsidiary companies (together referred to as the “group”) for each financial year in the form and on the basis determined by Scottish Ministers. The accounts are prepared on an accruals basis and give a true and fair view of the group’s state of affairs at the year-end and of its income and expenditure and cash flows for the financial year. In preparing the accounts the Board is required to: � Observe the accounts direction issued by Scottish Ministers, including the relevant accounting and disclosure requirements, and apply suitable accounting policies on a consistent basis; � Make judgements and estimates on a reasonable basis; � State whether applicable accounting standards have been followed, and disclose and explain material departures in the financial statements; � Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis, unless it is inappropriate to presume that the Group will continue in operation. The Accountable Officer for the Scottish Government Rural and Environment, Science and Analytical Services Division (RESAS) has designated the Regius Keeper as the Accountable Officer for the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. His relevant responsibilities as Accountable Officer, including his responsibility for the propriety and regularity of the public finances and for the keeping of proper records, are set out in the Financial Memorandum of the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh issued by Scottish Ministers.
