Over a century ago, DePaul University was founded
on a dream of educational opportunity for all capable
students — a dream not limited by religion, gender or
race. Forward-thinking citizens of Chicago joined with
the Vincentian founders to build that university. Each
generation since has helped DePaul rise to leadership
in higher education.
Today, the mission of DePaul University, the eighthlargest
private and largest Catholic university in the
country, relies more than ever on the generosity and
vision of those who understand the critical importance
of education in a global era. The Many Dreams, One
Mission Campaign for DePaul University is designed
to support the dreams of young people today and
well into the future.
I am immensely grateful for the support shown by
our alumni, friends and supporters during this historic
year. The public phase of the campaign is off to an
extraordinary start, with record gift totals to DePaul
in FY2010. In this Philanthropy Report and Honor
Roll, we recognize the visionary leaders of today, who
realize, in the words of St. Vincent, “what must be
done” to secure the dreams of future generations.
