CLASS NOTES
1900s
Sandi (Peterson ’73) Gulbranson graduated on May 7, 2011 with a
Masters of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from Chadron State
College. Her daughter, Shana Ray, graduated at the same time with the
same degree. Sandi and her husband Randy run the Victorian Bed &
Breakfast Inn in Chadron, NE. Lyombe Eko ’80, Associate Professor,
Director of Graduate Studies, and Co -Director of the African Studies
Program, School of Journalism and Mass Communications, University
of Iowa, teaches classes in media law policy as well as comparative and
international communication. Lyombe has published several articles
in a variety of communication and law review journals. Heather
(Spear ’91) Norton received her Master of Arts teaching degree in May of
2010, from The University of Alaska Southeast. She currently teaches in the
Kodiak Island Borough School District in Kodiak, AK. Beth (McCluan ’97)
Thornton received her MS degree in Marriage, Family and Child Therapy in
June of 2011. Beth is a therapist at Park View Behavioral Health in Colorado
Springs, CO.
2000s
Matt Metzger ’00 has been named Vice President and Manager of First
Dakota National Bank. He has been a business banking officer with First
Dakota since 2003. Rocky Reyfeldt ’02 joined First Bank and Trust in
Sioux Falls as Vice President of Business Banking; he recently graduated
from the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Sioux Falls.
Jessica (Jackson’03) McClanahan resides in Watertown, SD, where she
is Assistant Manager at Wal-Mart. Amy Schmidt ’05 received her Doctorate
in Medicine in 2010 from St George University in Grenada. She completed
her internship in pediatrics at OSF Children’s Hospital of Illinois and is now
in her second year of residency. Gerald “Jerry” Sager ’06 accomplished
two graduate degrees in three years. He graduated with honors, May 15,
2011, from Oklahoma City University’s School of Law, receiving a Master in
Business Administration and a Juris Doctor Law Degree. Nicole (Maack
’06) Nelson has joined Insight Marketing Design in Sioux Falls as a media
buyer. Matthew Whipps ’06 recently relocated to Huntley, IL, where he
is the Worship Leader at Church on the Rock. He continues to work as a
personal banker with Wells Fargo. His future plans include becoming a
pastor. Corinne (Jones ’08) Brouwer is attending the University of South
Dakota. She will graduate in June 2012 with a Master’s Degree in Social
Work. Julie (Elder ’08) Robinson is the Youth Associate at First Baptist
of Woodway in Waco, Texas.
