The NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service pulishes a regular newsletter for the resorts community<br />

of the national park. You are welcome to subscribe to the newsletter to read the information first<br />

hand, in the meantime here’s some highlights<br />

from this year’s Winter edition.<br />

Sundeck Hotel - for their major investment in a 10kw solar electicity generation system, planting 2000 trees<br />

on the South Coast to offset carbon emission, and for reducing their reliance on skidoos.<br />

Edeilweiss <strong>Ski</strong> Lodge - has maintained a 100 litre per visitor, per night water limit, which is only half of the 200<br />

litre target set by PRREMS.<br />

Waratah <strong>Ski</strong> Lodge - replaced its outdated oil heating system, improved insulation and general resource<br />

efficiency.<br />

2010 international Year of Biodiversity<br />

To celebrate the year of biodiversity two class<br />

acts get a mention, the starfish stinkhorn and<br />

mountain blue planarian. Can you spot the<br />

stinkhorn?<br />

On a <strong>more</strong> serious note though a long litany<br />

of endagered and criticaly endangered plants<br />

and animals are listed, including the Pygmy<br />

Possum, and Archer’s Sedge.<br />

New bridge to support flying fox<br />

crossings of farm Creek Guthega<br />

This Summer the NPWS built a bridge adjacent to the long-standing<br />

flying fox to help walkers and skiiers cross the creek at Guthega.<br />
