and metallic gaskets and keep
a wide range of sheet gasket materials
in stock to cover the majority of fluids

Our non-metallic gaskets suit a wide range
of low-pressure applications, such as steam,
hydrocarbons and their derivatives, strong

organic acids, foodstuffs and similar. Our semimetallic
gaskets for medium- and high-pressure

Reducing leakage by 50 tonnes ENERGY
per year, gaskets meeting German
specifications provide
a sustainable solution.
Issue
everything leaks, even gaskets! It is the rate of this leak which is critical.
The lower the leak, the less the financial loss from escaping product
and less the environmental impact.
An erIKS Gasket Technology customer, an ethylene plant, estimated it had
50,000 joints, each having a gasket in place. Although the existing gasket
specification was fit for purpose, erIKS engineers calculated that if a better
gasket design was employed, significant improvements could be made.
Solution
erIKS engineers recommended the modification of the existing gasket
specification to one in accordance with German ta-luft specification.
The ta-luft specification has very stringent criteria on leakage rate and
is the basis of erIKS Gasket Sustainability criteria. erIKS recommended
the selection of frenzelit specialist SSTc ta-luft reinforced graphite material.
With a proven leak rate of only 0.00008 mbar.l/s.m, it is estimated that
ethylene product loss will be reduced by 50 tonnes per year.

erIKS Gasket Technology core competence centre offers a full
technical advisory service in addition to a comprehensive cutting
service. Both cnc waterjet cutting and cnc oscillating knife cutting
techniques offer unprecedented product accuracy, whilst the use of the latest radan
‘nesting’ software ensures maximum material utilisation practices are employed. A local
cutting service is also available at key erIKS Distribution sites, ensuring urgent gasket
requirements can easily be accommodated.
Fibre Sheet Jointing
General Grade Non-Asbestos Gasket Materials
In accordance with the requirements of BS7531 Grade Y.
for use with water, steam and gases at temperatures up to
200ºc and for oil, solvents and inert liquids at temperatures
up to 350ºc.
RX PT30
rX PT30 is a high quality, private brand
sheet jointing comprising of a mixture of
polyaramid and inorganic fibres, bonded
with a nBr binder. It is a general purpose
gasket material, suitable for hot and cold
water, steam, oil, fuel, gases and other
general duties. colour: Orange.
RX PT50
rX PT50 is an alternative private brand
aramid based sheet jointing. Again
it is suitable for general purpose low
temperature applications, including water,
steam, oil, fuel gases and other general
duties. colour: Beige.

glass and aramid fibres, bonded together

medium pressure rated gasket material.

range of gas and liquid media. colour: Green.

Composite PTFe Products
PTFE Materials
composite rX PT150 and rX PT160 are a PTfe based
group of products capable of sealing chemicals right across
the 0–14pH range, at temperatures from cryogenic to 260°c
and at pressures from 85 bar down to vacuum. Typified by
low creep, sustained service capability and robustness and
has numerous advantages over many alternatives including
pure and filled PTfe and envelope gaskets.
RX PT150
Blue Modified PTfe sheeting. High
performance biaxially orientated sheet
sealing material containing PTfe with
hollow glass micro spheres. excellent
resistant against cold-creep and very gas
tight. Seals with low bolt force. Universal
chemical resistance and can be used for
several flange materials: steel, plastic, glass
and ceramic lined. Temperature from
–210ºc up to +260ºc.
RX PT160
Pink Modified PTfe sheeting. High
performance biaxially orientated sheet
sealing material containing PTfe with
silica filler. excellent resistant against
cold-creep. Universal quality for (petro)
chemical applications, acids and gases.
Temperature from –210ºc upto +260ºc.

Graphite laminates
A semi-rigid laminated material manufactured from high
purity exfoliated graphite reinforced with nickel or stainless
foil or tanged stainless steel. It is suitable for sealing against
steam and most other media with the exception of strongly
oxidising reagents. recommended for use at 350ºc and for
pressures up to 2900psi. General material grades available
from erIKS Gasket Technology include:
RX Egraflex Tanged Graphite
rX egraflex is a graphite laminate
sheeting reinforced with a 316 stainless
steel insert. A universal material for (petro)
chemicals. Used in high pressure and
high temperature applications. Available
in 1.5mm, 2mm and 3mm thicknesses.
rX egraflex Tanged Graphite is a
graphite laminate reinforced with a tanged stainless steel
core. recommended for applications involving high sealing
stresses and where high blowout resistance is required.
The inclusion of the steel reinforcing layer gives rise to a
robust sheet. can be used to seal a wide range of media,
with the exception of strong oxidising agents, at extremes of
temperature and pressure.

Flexitallic Thermiculite ®
Thermiculite ® 815 is a high temperature
sheet sealing material comprising chemically
exfoliated and thermally exfoliated
vermiculite with a tanged stainless steel
core. recommended for use in high
temperature sealing applications. Maximum
recommended temperature: 800ºc
(1470ºf). Maximum recommended pressure:
20 Mpa (200 bar; 2900 psi).
Frenzelit NovaMicA ® THERMEX
novaMIcA ® THerMeX is the brandnew
gasket material with extremely high
temperature stability. It is based on
processed phlogopite mica resistant
to continuous temperatures of up to
1000ºc. Suitable for extreme thermal
and mechanical applications, especially exhaust.
Novus Hi-Temp
A mica/silicone based high temperature
sealing material. for use as sealing material
between flanges, can be in the form of
sheets or cut gaskets. Application exhaust
pipes, gas turbines, up to 1000ºc.
Spiral wound Gaskets
A comprehensive stock of SWG
manufactured in accordance with ASMe
B16.20 is available for immediate delivery.
Spiral wound gaskets are used for high
pressure and temperature applications.
erIKS has a selection in all conceivable

Semi Metallic Gaskets
The camprofile offers a safe, effective seal under the
most exacting conditions on both standard pipe work and
specialist applications. The camprofile gasket offers excellent
flexibility and recovery characteristics, allowing seal integrity
under pressure and temperature fluctuations, temperature
differential across the flange face, flange rotation, bolt stress
relaxation and creep.
Ring Type Joints
ring joint gaskets are used primarily in the
up-stream oil and gas industries where
high pressures are often encountered.
