Dear Zuidberg customer,
The last quarter was a very busy one at Zuidberg. The first pile has now been erected at the new
Zuidberg StaalService site and Zuidberg Transmissions successfully attended the Industrial
Automation & Drives show.
On Thursday 11 October, our eldest daughter proudly drove in the first pile for the new Zuidberg
StaalService development, to loud applause from family, Alderman Schutte from the municipality of
Noordoostpolder, invited guests and more than 200 colleagues from the various Zuidberg companies.

continuation Investing in a constuctive future
With the new Zuidberg StaalService development, we are investing in a constructive future. As well as a completely new
site and machinery, the development is also an investment in the regional community, because it will create more jobs in the
future.
As with the other Zuidberg companies, the new development is very much about efficiency, sustainability and safety. To give
one example - the fact that, from the end of next year, all the metal structures will be developed, produced and assembled
in-house will greatly reduce the need for transport. As well as energy-efficient production, reducing waste materials and heat
recovery during production, the office premises will be fitted with an underground thermal storage system - all with the aim
of actively incorporating efficiency, sustainability and safety in the design and production process.
Among the items featured in this issue of fRONTliNE NEWS are the launch of EcO TWiN pTO on the Dutch market, the
production of gears according to the lEAN principle, and our new range of weights.

A switchable transmission for a mulching
machine
The Mitsubishi lD 1000c crawler, owned by Arto Vesteri from pudasjärvi in finland, drives a mulching machine using a
switchable transmission developed and produced by Zuidberg Transmissions.
A number of adjustments were made to the transmission: the clutch pressure was increased, and it was fitted with an
adapted pump and a 1 ¾” 20 spline output shaft. This combination is ideal for the mechanical shredding of organic
materials.
The customer is very satisfied with his transmission, that fully meets his expectations. Especially when full engine power is
required. “We are very satisfied with the way in which Zuidberg Transmissions advises and support us in the area of drive
solutions.”

New test bench is
capable of testing
outputs up to 400 HP
we began using a second test bench at the start of
September. This newly-designed test bench enables
Zuidberg to increase its test capacity and can be used to
test higher power outputs.
The new test bench is capable of testing outputs of up to 400
hp maximum. According to Test Engineer Richard lemmen,
this new test bench is infinitely easier to use.

“With the new test bench, we can assemble and dismantle
the test products faster and more easily, which means we
can work more efficiently and effectively. The state-of-the-art
controls minimize the likelihood of errors. All the test data is
available instantly, in digital form, for reporting to the R&D
department.”

The entire system has been installed in Zuidberg’s speciallydesigned
test cabin. like the new test bench, this test cabin
was also developed in-house. The test cabin is not susceptible
to external influences, because the space is fully insulated, has
climate control and can be electronically monitored 24/7.

little difficulty getting the 11-metre
tall pile into the ground, to loud
applause from family, Alderman
Schutte from the municipality of
Noordoostpolder, invited guests
and more than 200 colleagues from
the various Zuidberg companies. A
total of 2200 piles will be set in the
ground for the new site, which will
covers a surface area of 10,000 m 2 .

During the presentation on 11
october, also the new logo of Zuiderg
StaalService was presented.
from July 2013 laser, plasma and autogenous cutting
activities will move into the new 10,000 m² premises in Ens.
Zuidberg StaalService specializes in producing, assembling
and co-engineering metal structures. in addition to steel
cutting, our customers can also have components welded,
assembled, coated, turned, milled etc. using high quality
production means. This makes Zuidberg StaalService a
fully-fledged, one-stop-shopping partner with a high level of
added value for its customers.

Gearbox manufacture in
accordance with LEAN
The gearboxes are produced on an assembly line, designed in accordance
with the LEAN principle. This principle states that a minimum supply of
items and a minimum number of end products are worked with. Assembly
only takes place per piece in an assembly line with minimum equipment and
minimum logistical movements. All of this takes place with the aim of being
able to carry out the manufacturing process in a more flexible manner with
fewer costs in terms of supplies and a faster delivery time.
The last step is testing the gearbox. Two test installations designed specially for
and by Zuidberg are included in both lines here. After entering the housing type,
these test installations fill the gearbox with the correct quantity of oil, test the
pressure of the oil pump at different rpms and pressure values and filter the oil
during the test cycle. The aforementioned is also a physical test on the rotating
parts. Once the test is complete (this takes approximately ten minutes), an
indication is given as to whether the gearbox has passed or failed the test. The
gearbox, after being assembled on the lEAN line, is adapted for a specific tractor
by fitting items such as a flange, mounting plate and/or intermediate shaft. All
details are logged for traceability purposes.
