• 30 Shades of Pink, a fashion show and benefit celebrating SFDC’s
30th anniversary, raised $25,000 for the San Francisco Bay Area
Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
A sold-out crowd of more than 600 filled the San Francisco Design
Center's Galleria on July 19, 2002 to view and bid on 30 one-of-akind
ensembles designed by some of the Bay Area's foremost
fashion designers. The clothes, worn by breast cancer survivors and
other volunteer models, were made of sumptuous fabrics donated by
SFDC showrooms.
The San Francisco Bay Area Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen
Breast Cancer Foundation is a volunteer organization devoted to
raising funds for breast cancer research, education, screening and
treatment in the nine Bay Area counties. The Susan G. Komen Breast
Cancer Foundation sponsors the Komen Race for the Cure, to be
held in 113 cities in 2002. Since its founding in Dallas in 1982, the
organization has raised more than $300 million to combat breast
