Hotel Sacher ***** Philharmonikerstrasse 4, 1010 Vienna
In 1876, Eduard Sacher founded the Hotel Sacher in Vienna. He was the son
of the creator of the Original Sacher-Torte, a unique and world famous
chocolate cake. Soon after its creation, the Sacher became a world famous
meeting point for politicians, artists and the aristocracy.
Since 1934, the hotel is run by the Gürtler family, who is very keen on
maintaining the hotel’s old tradition. A simple glance from its windows shows
the hotel’s special location. It is right in the city center, close to the pedestrian
shopping area Kärtnerstraße, opposite the Opera House and only a few
minutes walk away from St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg and the
elegant Ringstraße, a road which boasts Vienna’s major sites, like the
Burgtheater and the City Hall.
The hotel boasts a total of 152 elegant rooms and suites. With the two new
top floors (floors 6 and 7) they are now able to offer 42 additional "Sacher
light" rooms which were designed by interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon
and from which you have a splendid view over the city. Special attention has
been paid to providing maximum comfort and the latest in technical equipment: all rooms feature wireless LAN, a
Dolby Surround system, roof terraces, marble bathrooms with separate shower and toilet (some also have a
bidet) as well as two washbasins, under-floor heating, illuminated vanity mirrors and plasma TV.
Have an exquisite meal at the hotel’s restaurants "Anna Sacher" and the "Rote Bar"! Their Executive Chef
combines international and typical Viennese cuisine, ranging from Tafelspitz, a boiled beef dish which the
Austrian emperor Kaiser Franz Josef allegedly ate every day, to the Original Sacher-Torte. Or have a drink at the
"Blaue Bar", a cosy meeting point in the heart of Vienna.
