Edinboro at Alcoa and Art Alumni Gathering
The 42nd Annual NCECA (National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts) Conference was held from
March 19 - 22, 2008. Alcoa proudly showcased artwork from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania at their
Corporate Headquarters lobby and conference room areas, featuring work by 62 alumni, current students,
faculty, and retired faculty. Photo Album

Coinciding with the Annual NCECA event was an Alumni Gathering of Pittsburgh-area Edinboro art alumni on
March 22 at Atria’s Restaurant for an evening of reminiscing about the their time spent at Edinboro and
greetings from President Brown.
Photo: Dr. Jeremy Brown addressed a crowd of more than 250 at the
Edinboro at Alcoa reception for Edinboro ceramic alumni held in the
lobby of the corporate headquarters of Alcoa on March 20. The show
included 60 Edinboro ceramic alumni as well as current students and
faculty. Looking on are Julie Caponi, Harold Shields, Rebeca Acuña and
alumni Bill Campbell and Trevor Herceg. �
Scholarships
Jim Sims establishes Basketball Scholarship
A 1964 graduate of Edinboro University, James Sims was a member of the basketball and football teams. He
was the men’s basketball coach for Edinboro University from 1984 until 1989, received the Coach of the Year
Award in 1986, and was inducted into the Edinboro University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1983.
Jim married Evelyn Oliver, a 1965 graduate of Edinboro University. Evelyn is a teacher and chair of the English
department at Keystone Oaks High School, and Jim is a restaurant owner, including the Crossroads Dinor in
Edinboro.
The Jim Sims Family Basketball Scholarship will be awarded
annually to an eligible member of the Edinboro University Men’s
Basketball Team. �
