About Mandir
Information for International devotees
Dear Sevak,
We feel proud to tell you that with the grace of God and your great love & devotion, the Hindu
Mandir at Stockholm is flourishing.
Mandir was opened in the month of August, 1998. We were dreaming for a Mandir in Stockholm
since 1985. A post giro account was opened in July 1986 and the money offered in small poojas at
home was deposited in that account. At that time there were less than 1000 families in Stockholm
and it was not the right time to take a big step to open Mandir, but we were searching for a proper
central place for Mandir.
In summer 1998 we found a school building with very big garden and play ground for sale.
A proposal was presented in a big hall (Tensta Träff) to the Indian community in Stockholm in the
month of June1998. All families were positive and a decision was made to buy this property. We
borrowed 75% of the price from a bank and 25% of the price was paid through donations.
Mandir became reality in 1998. In these years we have built a brand new kitchen, a big garden
with 40 Ashoka decoration trees, a library and a very beautiful “Alter” with a hall of sitting capacity for
more than 200 people. We are putting our efforts for “MURTI STAPHNA” and we need help from
devotees.
