Fourth annual ‘Dancing with the Stars’
raises $70,000 for The Pantry of Broward
The fourth annual Dancing with the
Stars of Broward delivered an evening
of high-energy dance routines
for its 400 guests – and $70,000 in crucially
needed funds for The Pantry of Broward.
Proceeds helped the non-profit provide
food and other support services to hundreds
of seniors on low, fixed incomes and
also for grandparents raising their children.
Five local “celebrities” were paired
with professional dance instructors for
weeks of rehearsals.
The celebrity dancer to shimmy away
with first prize was Susan Renneisen, director
of special events for Seminole Hard
Rock Hotel & Casino. Her partner was
Alex Matar, professional dancer. Other
“celebrity” dancers were Laurina Anderson,
Marc Canon, senior VP of corporate

communications, AutoNation Inc.; Johnny
Williams, managing partner, ProMotion
Sports & Entertainment and Katrina
Wright, vice president of community relations,
Bank of America.
Gary Correll of Publix, Jen Klaasens
of The Wasie Foundation, Traci Miller of
Miller Construction Company, Pembroke
Pines Mayor Frank Ortis and celebrity
athlete Twan Russell were judges of the
competition.
Gale Butler of AutoNation and Ginny
Miller of Miller were event co-chairs.
The non-profit Pantry of Broward provides
food and other support services to
more than 425 clients throughout Broward
County.
