New Years Day: Thursday, December 30* - Saturday, January 1.<br />

*Please note: Employees will be taking December 22 and December<br />

30 as furlough days (unpaid) in conjunction with holiday closures as<br />

Remember Our Veterans<br />

November 9 at the Central <strong>Library</strong> as Major Chuck Larson<br />

discusses his book, Heroes Among Us: Firsthand Accounts of<br />

Combat from America’s Most Decorated Warriors in Iraq and<br />

Afghanistan.<br />

Socks for Soldiers<br />

During the month of November, the <strong>Des</strong> <strong>Moines</strong> <strong>Public</strong><br />

<strong>Library</strong> Staff Association has set a goal of sending 100 pairs<br />

of socks to our troops for the holidays. If you would like to<br />

participate or learn more about this program, email sdearly@<br />
