Registration Process
Registration Process: Registration for
sessions can be done online or through
regular mail. Our placements are done on a
first-come, first-served basis; which is why we
recommend online registration. With online
registration, you can check availability and
you will know instantly if your daughter has
made it into the session or will need to be
placed on the wait list. Please see our insert
in the middle of this brochure for step-bystep
instructions on how to register online.
If you would like to register through the mail,
please use the registration form found on our
website: www.gssjc.org/residentcamp under
the forms section.
Your registration includes the camp session,
a camp T-shirt and patch (both given at
camp on the last day). You may also choose
to add an optional camp DVD or pre-pay
your Trading Post or Ship Store (camp store)
allowance.
Confirmations: Those registering online
will receive immediate confirmation to their
listed email address. Those registering via
mail will receive an email confirmation once
their registration has been processed. This
could take up to five business days after it is
received in the mail.
***Please note that ALL registration
confirmations and camp communications
are sent via email. We use the email address
that is noted on your Council file. Please
make sure you are using a valid email address
to avoid missing any important information
and reminders that may be sent out before
camp. Any changes to your current email
address on file can be made online via the
“My Account” tab or by contacting the Help
Desk at 713-292-0310.

Payments: A $50 deposit per session is
required for all registrations with the exception
of those requesting a full campership. (See
page 3 for more details on camperships). You
are free to make payments at any time on
your camp balance. Payment in full is due no
later than April 30, 2012. After the due date,
we will send an invoice to each registrant’s
address on file noting any remaining balance.
Some of our sessions are quite popular and
do draw large waiting lists. We reserve the right
to place someone on the waiting list in your
space if you have not paid your balance.
Layaway: Once you register, you are free to
make layaway payments to your account as
often as you’d like. Payments can be sent to:

Please make sure to note the camper’s
name, week and session on the check so
payments are properly credited. There is no
limit on the number of payments you make
to your account; however, we ask that each
payment is a minimum of $10. The April
30 payment due date still applies to those
taking advantage of our layaway option.
**All registrations made after
April 30, 2012 must be paid in full.
Refunds, Cancellations and
Session Change Fees:
The $50 deposit is non-refundable once
the camper is placed into a session.
Medical Issues:
Should a medical issue arise prior to check in,
we can reschedule your daughter into a later
session, if possible, at no charge. If that is not
possible, a refund of the remaining balance
can be made. Rescheduling or a refund due
to a medical reason can only be made with a
note from a doctor. You must notify Council
as soon as possible but no later than the first
day of your daughter’s camp session of an
illness in order to reschedule or receive a
refund. All documentation must be received
by August 15, 2012 in order to process any
refunds.
Non-Medical Issues:
Should you register for a session and need
to change to another session or week due
to something non-medical related, we will
try to accommodate your change based on
availability. A session change fee of $50 per
session, per change will be added to your
account. Unfortunately, we cannot make
any refunds for non-medical related issues.

Camperships (Financial
Assistance)
Financial assistance is available in
the form of a Campership (camp
scholarship). If applying for a
campership, please fill out the
campership form in the insert of this
brochure. You may also download one
at www.gssjc.org/residentcamp in the
forms section. You are required to pay
the $50 deposit unless you are applying
for a full campership. If applying for a full
campership or if registering via email,
please return the campership form
and the registration form in the same
envelope with any payments you will be
making. Camperships cover the cost of
the camp session only and do not include
things such as optional DVDs, trading
post/ship store allowances or camp care
packages.
Camperships are awarded on a firstcome,
first-served basis and requests
for camperships are due no later than
April 13, 2012. Requests received after
that date will be made only if funds are
available. A committee of volunteers will
review your completed application and
you will receive notification if you are
awarded a campership. Camperships
are awarded based on individual family’s
needs. The information collected from
your confidential application is not used
for any other purpose.
Check in and Check out
The check in and check out times are as
follows, unless otherwise noted:
Sunday Check in is 2-4 p.m.
Friday Check out is 7-9 p.m.
Tuesday Check out is 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Wednesday Check in is 10-11 a.m.
You will need to bring all of your check in
forms with you to camp, please do not
send them to Council. The forms you will
need to bring to camp will be noted in
your confirmation email and they can be
found on our website at www.gssjc.org/
residentcamp in the forms section.

Membership
Each camper is encouraged to register
with Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council
before they come to camp. Girls who are
not registered members of GSSJC for the
2011-2012 membership year may return
a completed membership consent form
(see bottom of registration form) and pay
$12 along with the camp registration fee.
If you choose not to become a member,
you will be charged a non-member fee of
$75 per session. If you are unsure what
level your girl is in, see the chart below. All
grades are as of Fall 2012.

kindergarten through 12th grade and to
adults, both women and men, who subscribe
to the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
Girls with Disabilities
Girl Scout camp is a recreational and
educational program where understanding a
camper’s special needs in advance helps to
ensure a positive experience. We encourage
girls with disabilities to attend camp. Call

Every effort is made to follow these session designs
as closely as described. Weather or unexpected
factors may alter activities.

Flower Power
Welcome to Camp Agnes Arnold! This is a great
introductory session for younger girls who are not
quite ready for a full camp session- designed just
for Daisies! Campers will have the opportunity to
paddle on Shadow Lake, try their hand at arts and
crafts, learn new silly camp songs and enjoy plenty
of playing in the pool. These sessions are Sunday
through Tuesday.
Short and Sweet- Brownies
A fun session for the first time Brownie camper
or for girls not quite ready for a full camp session.
Campers may choose to try canoeing on Shadow
Lake, hiking one of our many trails, various arts
and crafts sessions and more! These sessions are
Wednesday through Friday.
Want to be a Princess
Let the dazzle begin! Feel like a princess all
dressed up in your favorite costume, or try on one
of our sparkling outfits! Have fun with new hair
styles, a tea party, fashion parades and dancing.
Girls will work towards the Potter Brownie Skill
Building Badge for crafts as they create their royal
accessories.

Shadow Lake is the main attraction at
Camp Agnes Arnold located near Conroe. The
lake offers 35 acres of cool, refreshing fun for
campers. Girls may enjoy canoeing, swimming,
nature study, and fishing on Shadow Lake.
The legends of the Magic Elf and Hipper
entertain and delight the imaginations of all
campers. In addition to the focus of the session,
campers also participate in traditional camp
activities such as swimming, making crafts, going
on hikes, hanging out, archery, playing games, and
making new friends.
Campers will stay in tents, tree houses,
or cabin units of 24-36 girls each. With a view
of the lake, girls eat most of their meals in the
air-conditioned Ann Temple Allen Lodge. Near
the lodge, the climate-controlled craft rooms and
library/memorabilia room also offer an escape from
the summer heat.
The Little Mermaid
This session is for campers who love to splish
and splash while swimming, canoeing and playing
water games. The only thing missing from this
session is a tail! Girls will work on activities from
the Wonders of Water Journey.
Firelight and Fairytales
If you like eating s’mores, singing songs, playing
games, swimming, cooking outside and listening to
fairy tales, this session is for you! Girls will work on
the Hiker Brownie Skill Building Badge for outdoors.
Wonders of Water
Did you know that the ice cube floating in NEW!
your drink could have once been dinosaur
drool? Learn about the history and nature
of water and become a water warrior as you work
on items from the Wonders of Water Journey. Girls
will spend plenty of time in the pool and down at
Shadow Lake enjoying water games and fun.
Messy Munchkins
Bring lots of soap, this session gets messy! Girls
will participate in the human tie-dye experiment,
learn to grease bicycle chains and become human
s’mores. These messy munchkins will also work
towards the Brownie Girl Scout Way Legacy Badge.

Camp Like A Girl
Camp YOUR way! Girls will spend the week picking
each and every activity they do! Love nature and
the outdoors? Visit the nature center and try one
of our hikes! Is performing more your style? Why
not give a theater or dance session a try! This
week is all about YOU picking YOUR sessions!
Teddy Bear Picnic
Do you love stuffed animals? Ever wanted to
make your own? Come join your furry friends and
Hipper for a picnic at Shadow Lake! Girls will work
towards the Animal Habitats Brownie Skill Building
Badge for Animals.
Bakin’ Brownies
Mix one part sunshine, three parts of laughter, a
dash of camp songs with a bunch of new friends
to make the most amazing summer! Girls in this
session will learn to cook their own meals, sample
some outdoor cooking methods and work towards
“Snacks” - the Brownie Legacy Badge for Cooking.
Brownie Boater
Splish, Splash and have a blast canoeing on
Shadow Lake! Girls will have a blast building their
skills while earning the Brownie Boater card as well
as items from the Wonders of Water Journey! These
boaters will work towards the Fair Play Brownie
Legacy Badge for Athletes as they participate in a
canoe race and lake scavenger hunt.
Short and Sweet- Juniors
A fun session for the first time Junior camper or
for girls not quite ready for a full camp session.
Campers may choose to try canoeing, hiking,
arts and crafts sessions and more! “A” sessions
are Sunday through Tuesday. “B” sessions are
Wednesday through Friday.
Junior Paddler
Work towards the Practice with a Purpose Junior
Legacy Badge in this fun and exciting paddle-filled
week. Girls will have the chance to canoe and
kayak to their heart’s content. Girls will earn their
Junior Paddler cards.
Harriet Potter
The movie saga is over, but you can still relive
some of your favorite movie moments! Try your
own kitchen chemistry this week and explore the
world of science and magic. Top the week with a
game of Quidditch- Arnold style. Girls will work on
items from the aMuse Journey.

Animal Adventures
This session is purrrrfect for anyone who loves
pets! Girls will visit a local vet clinic and petting
zoo to see their four legged animal friends. Girls
will also learn pet first aid techniques and work
towards the Animal Habitats Junior Skill Building
Badge for Animals.
Curtain Call
Lights, Camera, ACTION! Do you just love being
in front of a crowd? Maybe you want to work on
your improv or try out for the school play next fall.
Come learn some theater techniques and star in
a production for the parents on closing night. Girls
will work on portions of the aMuse Journey as they
learn about roles, costumes, set design and more!
Owl Prowl
Are you a night owl? Spend the week staying
up late to explore the wonders of camp, roast
s’mores, tell stories and visit the lodge for some
late night activities.
Water Frolic
Stay cool during the hot summer with aqua
aerobics, water volleyball, swimming, snorkeling
and more! Girls will also explore how fun activities
can help you stay healthy by working on the
Staying Fit Skill Builder Badge.
Pioneer Days
Step back in time and experience life as one of the
first settlers. Learn how to make candles, design
a quilt block, spin wool, dye fabric and create your
own toys while working on the Playing the Past
Skill Building Badge.
Da Vinci Girls
Release your inner imagination and appreciation
for the world around you as you explore painting,
sculpting, music, science, writing and more!
Renaissance women rejoice, this session’s for you!

Be A Star
Are you a Diva? Do you dream of standing
ovations after you sing? How would you like to
work on your voice and choreography to help
perfect your act- then create a CD with your new
friends? Work on the Performance Skill Building
Badge and finish the week out with a performance
on stage- awaiting the applause.
Paddles and Pedals
Do you have land AND sea legs? Show NEW!
off your paddling skills with canoeing
and kayaking then hop on a bike and
take an overnight trip to Camp Robinwood for
some paddleboating fun! Girls will discover nature
while working on the Trees Legacy Badge for
Naturalists.
Medieval Madness
Step back in time to the Middle Ages! Meet a
knight in shining armour, design your own coat of
arms, create time period jewelry and try your hand
at calligraphy. Top this week off with a day trip to
Medieval Times in Dallas, where girls will enjoy
a feast fit for a queen and attend a live jousting
tournament!
LiA (Leader-in-Action)
NEW!
Updated! Do you love helping out
younger girls at day camp? Girls will work
on their Leader-in-Action (LiA) Award all while
spending the week working with younger girls in a
hands-on training experience you’ll never forget!
Completion of a LiA Award is now a prerequisite
for Program Aides and a good foundation for the
other Teen Mentoring Awards. In their free time,
our LiA’s will have plenty of time to take a dip in
the pool, shoot a round of archery or visit the
nature center!

Amazing Race
Parts of all of your favorite reality shows NEW!
rolled into one! Spend the week learning
special camp activities like orienteering,
geocaching, efficient canoeing skills and more. The
week ends with teams competing in an amazing
race through camp: finding clues, solving puzzles
and using their newly discovered skills. Winners
take home the Arnold Cup and all the glory!
Robotics
Did you enjoy the movie Wall-E? Ever dream
of owning your own robot? Join us for a week
of electronic fun where you’ll build your own
robot and discover the science behind moving
machines, gears and motors! Also, test your hand
on the LEGO mindstorm robots!
Shutterbugs
Do you want to be a photographer? Start with
the basics and discover the art of black and
white photography. Learn about composition,
film exposure, proper negative handling and
developing all while working towards your own
photo exhibit display! (Please bring your own
35mm camera, film will be provided).
Lazy Days
NEW!
No school means lazy days of hanging
out with friends, sleeping in and staying
up for those late night snacks and
girl talk. Enjoy a late night swim, a kitchen raid,
midnight disco and more! Work on the secret
society Polar Bear Patch and the Night Owl Skill
Building Badge.
Backpacking with Blondie
NEW!
Join us for a two-week extended trip to
southern Colorado. This is a trip that is
designed to cover some ground, and enjoy the
beauty and solitude of the San Juan Mountains.
This session is the less aggressive of our two trips,
but one that is still designed to challenge the
girls. Please note the irregular dates. (Girls must
be in good physical condition with a sense of
adventure and attend the pre-camp meeting with
their parents/guardian at the Houston Girl Scout
Center on May 6, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. Please have a
pair of worn in hiking boots. Backpacks and tents
are supplied). Important: Girls must be able to
carry a pack that is no more than 25% of their own
body weight. Girls will check in on June 28, 2012.

Backpacking with Pumba
This is a two-week extended trip to northern
New Mexico’s Carson National Forest and
Wheeler Wilderness areas. This is an aggressive
trip that is designed to provide challenges and
accomplishments for the girl that sign up. Imagine
backpacking above tree line and attempting the
eighth most difficult trailed peak in North America
in some of the most scenic areas in the Rockies.
Also there is a fair amount of sightseeing along
our travels. Please note the irregular dates. (Girls
must be in good physical condition with a sense of
adventure and attend the pre-camp meeting with
their parents/guardian at the Houston Girl Scout
Center on May 6, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. Please have a
pair of worn in hiking boots. Backpacks and tents
are supplied). Important: Girls must be able to
carry a pack that is no more than 25% of their own
body weight. Girls will check in on June 14.
Canoe Aides
Do you love to help teach canoeing skills to
younger girls? Are you FOC certified? Spend
the week at the docks working as a canoeing
aide! Girls will earn leadership and service hours.
Arrangements can be made to take an FOC
course in April or June if you don’t already have

Extreme Adventure
This session is for the adventurous camper! How
does hiking and biking in the Texas Hill Country
sound? Girls will spend a few days at camp, then
head to Lake Buchanan for an adventure-packed
session sure to thrill and excite! Girls will work on
the Naturalist Legacy Badge.

CIT
Girls will spend a week at each of our three
resident camps learning all the skills needed to
be a successful camp counselor. While learning
the ropes, CITs will be given hands-on experience
working with staff and campers on a variety of
things from planning activities, teaching skills
to younger girls and they could possibly earn
themselves a job for the rest of the summer at
Camps Arnold, Misty or Casa! Girls must submit
“Girl Application for Leadership Project” and three
references prior to arriving at camp. These items
will be included in the camp registration email.
Troop/Group Camping- Cabins or Tents
Love to camp but don’t want to plan?
This session is all about troops and
groups! Girls will attend camp with
their troops or groups. Camp staff will
provide the activities, food and fun!
NEW!
Spend your days sampling all the activities camp
has to offer like nature hikes, canoeing, crafts,
archery, swimming and more! Girls will have the
opportunity to work towards the Outdoors Skill
Building Badge. All participants must register
and each group must provide the correct ratio of
adults.

Owl Prowl
Are you a night owl? Spend the week staying up
late to explore the wonders of camp, tell stories
and visit the galley for some late night activities.
Water Works
Cool off this summer while working towards the
Staying Fit Skill Building Badge! Play a game of
water volleyball with your team, get in shape with
a Tae Bo or aqua - aerobics workout and of course
– have plenty of fun splashing in the pool and
keeping cool.
Play by the Bay
Enjoy team sports by the cool bay breeze, freshen
up your soccer, basketball, volleyball and softball
skills, or enjoy the splash from a game of waterballoon
volleyball. Campers will also choose
other activities to complete their busy week as
they work on the Staying Fit Skill Building Badge,
Practice with a Purpose Legacy Badge and the
Bull’s-eye Patch.
Glitzy Glamour
Who said you have to rough it at camp? NEW!
Learn about make up application,
skin and nail care, massage therapy,
relaxation and yoga as you create your
new style. Try some aroma therapy and make
a cool decorative candle while working on the
Staying Fit Skill Building Badge.

Camp Casa Mare on Galveston Bay is a tropical
paradise for ocean lovers and landlubbers alike. The
warm, salty breezes, the call of gulls, and the sight of
sailboats gliding across the bay provide the perfect
setting for seaside fun.
Special interest sessions focus on water sports such
as sailing and SCUBA. A fleet of Sunfish sailboats, Lasers,
and sloops provides a challenging experience for those
who wish to gain expertise in our Mariner program or
just learn basic sailing. There are also many activities for
landlubbers such as cheerleading, fencing and drama. In
addition to the focus of the session, campers participate
in traditional camp activities such as swimming, crafts,
games, hanging out and making new friends.
Girls staying at Camp Casa Mare live in dormitories.
Campers gather in the galley/lodge for meals and allcamp
assemblies. The galley also houses craft/activity
rooms and a display from the camp’s rich history.
Junior Olympian
Get ready for the Camp Casa Mare Olympics!
Develop personal skills and team work by joining
in a variety of water-based and land games
throughout the week. With an emphasis on fun
and team spirit, campers may choose to sample
volleyball, soccer, archery, canoeing, swimming,
bicycling and more as they work towards the
Practice with a Purpose Legacy Badge.
Camp Like A Girl
Camp YOUR way! Girls will spend the
week picking each and every activity
they do! Love nature and the outdoors?
Participate in nature exploration. Is performing
more your style? Why not give a theater or dance
session a try! Each girl attending Week 3 will
have the chance to try out sailing if they would
like. (Unfortunately, sailing is not possible for
Week 7.) This week is all about YOU picking YOUR
sessions!
Curtain Call
Lights, Camera, ACTION! Do you just love being
in front of a crowd? Maybe you want to work on
your improv or try out for the school play next fall?
Come learn some theater techniques and star in
a production for the parents closing night. Girls
will work on portions of the aMuse Journey as they
learn about roles, costumes, set design and more!

Space Out
Grab your gear, and head for the stars in this fun
packed week of adventure! Take a trip to the
Challenger Center on a mission to Mars, then head
to Space Center Houston and Mission Control!
Work with astronomers and astronauts, and find
your place in the cosmos!
Fencing
Spend the week learning this fast-paced, exciting
sport! As you challenge your opponents,
electronic equipment will keep track of who’s
winning the battle. Professional Instructors will
teach you the finer points of lunging, footwork
and blade work. Try out your new skills in a fencing
tournament, and round out the week with other
camp activities. All protective equipment and
fencing gear will be provided for the session. (Girls
must bring tank tops or thin T-shirts, and loose
fitting long pants to wear under the fencing jacket.)
Green Girls
This session is filled with tons of eco-friendly fun!
Work towards the Trees Skill Building Badge by
making your own paper, learning about composting,
and starting an herb garden to take home and use all
year long! Plenty of crafts with household recycled
materials will make this session a blast!
Ur Space
Learn how to safely create your own webspace
and blog. Incorporate digital photography,
graphics and more! Top off the week by working
with your new network of friends at camp to
create a Casa Mare newsletter all while working
towards the Netiquitte Skill Building Badge.
Pirates Plunder
Camp rules apply to all– except for NEW!
PIRATES! Come join your friends for a
week of rule-bending fun! Bring your
iPods, hair straighteners and blow driers, wear a
full face of make up every day if you’d like–after
all, you are a pirate! Discover treasure in the galley
during your late night treasure hunt, spend your
days hanging out with your friends or maybe
attending a session or two. Trade your pirate
treasure in for a limo ride and dinner out on the
town!
Dirt, Grime, Grease and Slime
Bring lots of soap, this session gets messy! Girls
will participate in the human tie-dye experiment,
learn to grease bicycle chains and become human
s’mores. These messy girls will work towards the
Cadette Girl Scout Ways Legacy Badge.

Uncovering the Evidence
Do some of your favorite TV shows include crime
scene tape, dusting for fingerprints and analyzing
blood splatter? Do you ever wonder about the
science behind forensics or what goes into forensics
shows? Join us for this week of camp to take part in a
mystery and help us solve the case! Girls will work on
their Investigation Skill Builder Badge.
Creative Cooking
Ingredients: Step 1: Take a handful of Junior Girl
Scouts. Step 2: Add a bundle of mouth-watering,
taste-tempting treats. Step 3: Don’t forget an
enthusiastic, experienced instructor to show
you how it’s done! Directions: Bring all the steps
together and blend for a fabulous cooking class!
Cooking time: Allow one week for completion of
the Simple Meals Legacy Badge for Cooking.
Taste of Sailing
No Sailing Experience Required! If you
can’t tell the difference between an jib
and a jive, this session is for you! This
session will introduce you to many aspects of
sailing including knot tying and nautical terms. Top
off the week as you set sail on a sunfish with an
experienced skipper! (Copies of the Level IV Swim
Card and Safe Boating Cards are required with
registration. Placement will be pending until copies
of the certifications are received. Safe boating
tests will be administered on site. Participants must
be able to pass the safe boating test to continue in
the session.)
Paddle Princess
Love the water but not a sailor? Try your NEW!
hand at becoming a paddle princess! Girls
will spend their days learning the exciting
skill of sea kayaking and participate in a sea kayak
race and scavenger hunt. When you’re not on the
bay, try peddling one of our bikes around! Girls will
work towards the Outdoors Skill Builder Badge.

Make it work! Join your friends as you NEW!
learn the basics for making some of the
hottest fashion accessories and jewelry.
Girls will also be given the opportunity to create
their own look for a final day fashion show- sewing
machines, fabric and fun provided! Fashionistas
will have a blast working towards their Financial
Literacy Badges and learn how they could turn
their skills into some extra spending money.
Beach Bums
Grab your flip flops and sunscreen - we’re headed
to the beach! Explore different beaches and visit
a local park to take a trip down the water slides!
This session is full of fun in the sun so don’t forget
your shades and sun screen!
Sailing Aides
Do you love to help teach sailing skills to
younger girls? Do you have at least a Mate
rating? Spend the week at the dock working as a
sailing aide! Girls will earn leadership and service

Seafarers (2 week session)
Seafarers, sail to your heart’s content
at Camp Casa Mare! Sail out to enjoy a
picnic lunch, then take a break from camp and sail
to Galveston to visit Moody Gardens and the Strand
before returning to camp to continue the tradition of
the Seafarers banner! (Girls must have a minimum
of a Sunfish Mate rating. A copy of your rating must
be sent with registration. Placement will be pending
until copies of the certifications are received.)
Red Cross Basic Sailing (2 week session)
Do you dream of sailing off into the sunset?
Sailing can be exciting, invigorating, relaxing
and challenging! Get started by completing
the Red Cross Basic Sailing course at Camp
Casa Mare! Learn how to rig a sailboat, forecast the
weather and sail safely on the open water. That's right
- you can learn to sail this summer! (Girls must submit
a copy of their Red Cross Level Four Swim Card and
Safe Boating Test Card. Placement will be pending
until copies of the certifications are received. Note:
To earn the Red Cross Basic Sailing certification, girls
must successfully complete both the written exam
and water requirements.)
SCUBA
Discover a whole new world under the sea, filled
with new colors, shapes, textures and creatures.
Become a certified SCUBA diver and escape to a
peaceful place to renew your energy and excite your
senses. This course will give girls an internationally
recognized open water SCUBA certification upon
completion of the required skills. Study diving physics,
physiology, medicine, environment and safety. Train
in the classroom, pool, and an off site open-water
environment. All gear is included. (Girls must have a
Red Cross Level V Swim card. Girls must pass both a
written and skills test to receive certification. Parents
must fill out a separate liability form, included in the
confirmation packet. Unfortunately, girls with tubes in
their ears or asthma are not eligible for this course.)
Sunfish Mate (2 week session)
Are you ready for more sailing? Master
sailing solo and work towards your Sunfish
Mate and Sailing Fundamentals ratings.
When you're not on the water, take some
time to enjoy other traditional camp activities. To
complete the sailing certifications, girls must earn
the required service hours. Certifications will be
held with the sailing program until service hours are
completed. (Must have Red Cross Level IV Swim Card,
Red Cross Basic Sailing or Small Craft Safety Sailing or
GSSJC Seaman rating, and GSSJC Safe Boating Card.
Please submit copies of all certifications with your
registration. Placement will be pending until copies of
the certifications are received.)

Mane Event
You can’t find a better session for Brownies
who love horses! Girls will enjoy the basics of
riding: grooming, mounting, dismounting and
controlling the horse at a walk. Girls in this session
must be entering the third grade and they will ride
twice, weather permitting.
Camp Like A Girl
Camp YOUR way! Girls will spend the week picking
each and every activity they do! Love nature and
the outdoors? Try one of our hikes! Is performing
more your style? Why not give a theater or dance
session a try! Each girl will have the chance to visit
the barn for a ride, should they want to. This week
is all about YOU picking YOUR sessions!
Horsin’ Around
Come and get the best of both worlds! Girls
will live in units based on their age- all while
working on their personal riding skills: beginner,
intermediate and advanced!
Short and Sweet
A fun session for the first time Junior camper or
for girls not quite ready for a full camp session.
Campers may choose to try horseback riding, hiking
one of our many trails, various arts and crafts sessions
and more! “A” sessions are Sun.-Tues. “B” sessions are
Wed. -Fri.

Horseback riding is the main attraction at Camp
Misty Meadows near Conroe. The Robert and Janice
McNair Equestrian Center includes four riding
arenas and a herd of 40 horses waiting to be ridden,
loved, hugged and groomed by summer campers.
Girls in third through twelfth grade can experience
different levels of equestrian experiences. In
addition to the four-legged attractions, the camp
offers a pool, archery range, riflery range and a
covered pavilion. Traditional camp activities such
as making crafts, hanging out with friends, enjoying
nature, going on hikes, cooking outdoors, playing
games, and making new friends are all part of the
fun. Cabins and dormitories are home to girls
staying at Camp Misty Meadows. Campers enjoy
most meals in the air-conditioned comfort of the
Wortham Lodge. The lodge also features a stage,
craft/activity rooms, and a large covered patio.

All American Girls
Bring your favorite doll with you to camp as you
spend the week learning about Kaya, Samantha,
Julie, Addie, Kirsten, Kit and more! Girls will work
on the Playing the Past Skill Builder Badge while
playing games and make crafts from different
periods in history, then top off the week with a visit
to the barn to learn about horses - one of Felicity’s
passions!

Campin’ Cowgirls
Love horses AND camping? Join us for one
of our most popular sessions! Girls will work on
their riding and outdoor skills then put it all to
good use on an overnight trail ride while working
on their Outdoors Skill Building Badge- complete
with sleeping under the stars! (Girls must be able
to control their horse at a walk to remain in this
session).

Horse Whisperer (10-day session)
Do you dream of owning your own horse? Work
with equestrian professionals to learn the basics
of horse management and horse training. When
you’re in the saddle, practice drill patterns, prejump
exercises and obstacle courses. English,
Western and Bareback riding will be covered, as
well as the opportunity to go out on the trail. At the
end of the session wow your family at a horse show!
(Girls must demonstrate control at a trot to remain
in this session. Girls in this session will have at least
seven riding lessons, weather permitting.)
Trading Spaces
Come get the best of both worlds! Spend
part of your two weeks at Misty Meadows and
part at Girl Scout Camp Kachina in the Texas Hill
Country. Girls will spend their days working on the
Outdoors Skill Building Badge with all the traditional
camp activities and fill their day with swimming
and horseback riding at both locations. Make new
friends from this Council and the Girl Scouts of
Central Texas Council!
Mystic Idol
So you think you have the x-factor? Come show
us what you’ve got! In this session, girls will explore
singing, dancing as well as stage make up and
acting. At the end of the session, compete in the
Mysic Idol talent competition! Girls will work on
the Performance Skill Building Badge.
Home on the Range
Hit the road to the Texas Hill Country! Girls will
work on their riding skills and their Outdoors Skill
Building Badge while visiting the Dixie Dude Ranch.
Days filled with western entertainment and chuck
wagon meals will leave you longing for more nights
on the trail!

Babies and Bottles
Trained babysitters are always in demand; come
learn how to be prepared for your job! Red Cross
Babysitting Training teaches you to handle
emergencies, prevent accidents and care for
children using competent babysitting practices. An
introduction to basic first aid skills helps ensure that
babysitters are better prepared for any emergency.
Girls will also learn job hunting skills, including
creating a resume! Girls will earn the Red Cross
Babysitters Certificate. (Girls must be at least 11
years old by the end of the session. Please bring a
baby doll or stuffed animal to practice feeding and
diapering.) Girls will earn CPR certification and work
towards their Life Skills Skill Building Badge.

Spend the week at camp learning the theories and
hands-on skills needed to join the SPURS (Super
People Using Riding Skills) program at Camp Misty
Meadows. Girls will receive their level one SPURS
scarf and be ready to work with the Weekend
Riding Program!

Are you ready for a challenge? Start by building your
confidence and trust working with your teammates
on the low elements course to prepare you to
test your strength on the 50-foot tower and high
elements later in the week. You might traverse the
Mohawk Walk, climb through the Spider Web and
experience the rush of shooting down the zip line.
