Welcome to the AquiStar ® Family of <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong>s!<br />
At the very heart of any water monitoring system is a sensor that takes measurements. <strong>INW</strong>’s AquiStar ®<br />
<strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong>s’ sophisticated sensing elements detect minute changes in such environmental water<br />
parameters as pressure, level, temperature, conductivity, bromide, chloride, pH, ORP, dissolved<br />
oxygen, and turbidity.<br />
Recording dataloggers built in<br />
Powerful internal microprocessors enable the sensors to be programmed for data recording<br />
and various monitoring sequences.<br />
Low power consumption<br />
AquiStar ® <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong>s go to sleep between readings, waking up automatically as needed.<br />
Due to this sleep mode and the use of very low power components, many of our AquiStar ®<br />
sensors run for over a year on two internal AA batteries, even when taking readings every 15<br />
minutes.<br />
Dual power supply<br />
Most AquiStar ® <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong>s come with two internal AA batties. Twelve volt external power<br />
supplies and solar panels are available for data intensive applications.<br />
Rugged construction<br />
Submersible units, constructed with 316 stainless steel (or titanium), fl uoropolymer, and<br />
PTFE, stand up to rugged and corrosive fi eld conditions. Surface sensors, housed in IP66/67<br />
polycarbonate or ABS plastic enclosures, withstand the rigors of sun, wind, and inclement<br />
weather.<br />
Powerful software<br />
Aqua4Plus control software comes standard with all AquiStar ® sensors. Use this software to<br />
view the status of any sensor, take real time readings, set background recording rates, upload<br />
and view the data in a number of different formats, as well as export data to .csv (comma<br />
separated value) fi les for import into databases, spreadsheets, and GIS modeling software.<br />
Easy in-fi eld calibration<br />
Powerful calibration wizards make in-fi eld calibration a snap.<br />
Dual communication protocol (Modbus ® and SDI-12)<br />
In addition to <strong>INW</strong>’s software, use standard Modbus ® RTU or SDI-12 equipment to easily read<br />
the GDL, so as to tie into your existing networks.<br />
Cabling and networking<br />
RS485 networking allows several sensors to be networked together and allows cable runs up<br />
to 2000 feet. Select from polyurethane, polyethylene, or FEP cable to meet the needs of your<br />
particular applications.<br />
Wireless Connectivity<br />
Extend your networks for miles or around the world using WaveData ® radio units, cellular<br />
modems, and the Internet. transmit readings via wireless telemetry and the Internet, allowing<br />
monitoring of data from anywhere with an Internet connection.

Pressure/Level <strong>Sensor</strong>s<br />
PT2X Pressure / Temperature <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> with Datalogging<br />
Temperature <strong>Sensor</strong>s<br />
An integrated datalogger and pressure/temperature sensor, the AquiStar ® PT2X is ideal for<br />
monitoring groundwater, well, tank, and tidal levels, as well as for pump testing and fl ow<br />
monitoring. Constructed with 316 stainless steel (or titanium), fl uoropoloymer,and PTFE,<br />
this sensor provides high accuracy readings (±0.06% FSO typical) in rugged and corrosive<br />
fi eld conditions.<br />
The PT2X is available in absolute, gauge, and sealed gauge versions in a variety of pressure<br />
ranges. Its small diameter (0.75”), low power usage, and dual protocol (Modbus ® and<br />
SDI-12) make this a very versatile addition to your monitoring instrumentation tool box.<br />
PT2X-BV Barometric / Vacuum <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> with Datalogging<br />
The PT2X-BV is an ideal barometric reference for absolute versions of the AquiStar ® PT2X<br />
pressure sensor. Using the Aqua4Plus Barometric Compensation Utility, conversion of<br />
data fi les from absolute sensors is a snap.<br />
Available in either a weatherproof box or 316 stainless steel tube, the PT2X-BV is a 0-16<br />
PSIA (110 kpa) barometric/vacuum sensor built on the PT2X <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> platform. The<br />
tubular version is available with either a standard end cone for submersible applications<br />
or a 1/4”NPT end cone for pressure measurements in pipe or vacuum extraction<br />
applications.<br />
T8 Thermistor Temperature <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> with Datalogging<br />
The T8 Temperature <strong>Sensor</strong> is a multi-channel temperature sensor and datalogger,<br />
using thermistor technology. The datalogger is housed in a small weatherproof box. The<br />
thermistors are embedded in strings of multi-conductor cable at user specifi ed locations,<br />
up to 8 thermistors per datalogger. A variety of thermistors are available to meet various<br />
temperature and resolution requirements.<br />
The T8 is great almost anywhere you need to measure temperature—whether it be in<br />
a lake, in a tank, or in a well. It is especially good for profi ling temperature variations at<br />
different levels.
Water Quality <strong>Sensor</strong>s<br />
AquiStar ® Family of <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong>s<br />
CT2X Conductivity / Pressure <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> with Datalogging<br />
The AquiStar ® CT2X <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> is a submersible conductivity/temperature sensor<br />
with built-in datalogging. Incorporating a 4-pole epoxy/graphite electrode cell, this sensor<br />
is extremely durable--excellent for use in rugged fi eld conditions. The 4-pole technology<br />
reduces fringe fi eld interference errors, lessens inaccuracy caused by polarization effects,<br />
and lowers contact resistance problems.<br />
Autoranging conductivity unit measures from 10 to 300,000 uS/cm. Linear and non-linear<br />
temperature compensation features add fl exibility to this sensor. The optional pressure<br />
module is available in a wide variety of pressure ranges. Add to all of this its small<br />
diameter (0.75”), low power usage, and dual protocol (Modbus ® and SDI-12), and you<br />
have a very powerful addition to your monitoring instrumentation tool box.<br />
TempHion pH/ISE/Redox <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> with Datalogging<br />
The Aquistar ® TempHion <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> is a submersible water quality sensor and<br />
datalogger capable of measuring pH, specifi c ions, redox, and temperature. Each unit<br />
comes with one thermistor based temperature element plus selected pH, ISE, or redox<br />
elements. Like the CT2X and the PT2X, this sensor is noted for its small diameter (0.75”),<br />
low power usage, and dual protocol (Modbus ® and SDI-12).<br />
The TempHion can be used for precise single- or multi-well tracer tests, saltwater intrusion<br />
tracking, tidal infl uence studies, wastewater treatment discharge, and pH monitoring.<br />
Its patented reference electrode provides long-term stability for continuous or intermittent<br />
monitoring, making unattended insitu testing and monitoring possible without frequent<br />
calibrations or service.<br />
DO2 Dissolved Oxgen <strong>Sensor</strong> with Datalogging<br />
The Aquistar ® DO2 Dissolved Oxygen sensor represents the next generation in troublefree<br />
oxygen-sensing design. Utilizing fl uorescence of a stable, immobilized rutheniumbased<br />
fi lm matrix, the sensor employs precision optical transmission and detection to<br />
measure oxygen concentration in the fl uid outside of the sensor. Measurement is based<br />
on photons of light responding to oxygen outside of the sensor, rather than what passes<br />
through a sensor membrane. This design eliminates the need to compensate (calibrate)<br />
for changes in membrane permeability due to fouling or make up for oxygen consumption<br />
by the sensor itself (which requires water movement or fl ow). Unlike alternative optical<br />
designs (such as those based on luminescence), this sensor does not have a consumable<br />
component; this fl uorescence design negates the need to replace photo-bleached caps.<br />
The DO2 measures temperature, pressure, dissolved oxygen, and supply voltage. The<br />
internal microprocessor runs on 12 VDC and automatically turns the dissolved oxygen<br />
sensing unit on and off, as needed, to conserve power. This sensor is great for<br />
aquaculture, dam discharge monitoring, water treatment facilities, as well as long-term<br />
surface water monitoring and remediation performance studies.<br />
Turbo Turbidity <strong>Sensor</strong> with Datalogging<br />
The AquiStar ® Turbo <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> is an integrated datalogger and turbidity/temperature<br />
sensor. The Turbo records over 250,000 records of turbidity, temperature, and time data,<br />
operates with low power, and features easy-to-use software with powerful features. The<br />
internal microprocessor runs on 12 VDC and automatically turns the turbidity sensing unit<br />
on and off, as needed, to conserve power. A built in wiper cleans the sensing eye each<br />
time power is applied to the sensing unit.<br />
The Turbo can be used for effl uent treatment monitoring, hydrological run-off studies,<br />
drinking water fi ltration effi ciency, as well as industrial process analysis and many other<br />
types of monitoring. Available with either 316 stainless steel or titanium housing, this<br />
sensor is great in corrosive environments.<br />

Multiparameter <strong>Sensor</strong><br />
The Compensator is designed to sit at the surface and connect to a number of down-hole<br />
AquiStar ® <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong>s, returning the readings from all connected sensors plus surface<br />
temperature, barometric pressure, Compensator power supply voltage, and barometrically<br />
compensated down-hole pressure. The Compensator reads the sensors in real time and<br />
records sessions of data for later upload. The internal microprocessor runs on 12 VDC<br />
and can automatically turn the down-hole sensors on and off, as needed, to conserve<br />
power.<br />
The Multiparameter <strong>Sensor</strong> can accommodate changes to parameter and data needs,<br />
all within the AquiStar ® <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> family. This fl exible uni6t can measure pH, ORP,<br />
temperature, conductivity, salinity, TDS, pressure, level, and dissolved oxygen or turbidity,<br />
depending on confi guration.<br />
The AquiStar ® GDL Multi-channel Datalogger is an excellent bridge between your analog<br />
sensors and the power of the digital world. The GDL runs under the same powerful, easyto-use<br />
software as our <strong>Smart</strong> <strong>Sensor</strong> series—extending to your own analog sensors the<br />
same networking, programming, display, and export capabilities that have made our <strong>Smart</strong><br />
<strong>Sensor</strong> series so popular.<br />
The GDL has two temperature, one milli-volt, two voltage, two 4-20 mA, and up to eight<br />
digital channels, depending on confi guration. Measure temperature, level, dissolved<br />
oxygen, fl ow, rainfall, turbidity, and more.<br />
An internal AA alkaline battery pack supplies 12 VDC to the GDL and optionally to connected<br />
sensors. Solar and line power options are available where more power is required.<br />
In addition to <strong>INW</strong>’s software, use standard Modbus ® RTU or SDI-12 equipment to easily<br />
