Pastor Nate’s Peace…
Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has
welcomed you, for the glory of God.
Romans 15:7
People of Hope or anyone who reads this, how do you
welcome another person? How do you welcome a person
into your home, office, church or pew? At first you may
feel compelled to put up barriers, be standoffish or judge.
Christ welcomes you, warts and all and promotes these
roadblocks from keeping people from his love. Christ has
suffered, bled and died not only for you, but for the purpose
and sake of God’s very word, to live and breath until his last for God the Father. Have you ever
considered welcoming someone for the glory of God or as Christ welcomes you? Yes, we are to
go all out, pull no punches, waste no time in order to welcome others with generosity, love,
kindness, peace, patience, gentleness, self-control, goodness and faithfulness.
We are the church, the body of Christ that is called each day to welcome the people who enter
our lives, to show them Christ as we bear, believe, endure and hope all things in Christ’s love.
As we journey from the Easter season into the season of Pentecost or Trinity season we have
heard many times in our scriptures read in worship of Christ’s love being so big and deep as to
welcome anyone and everyone, sinners and saints alike, to join in the feast of eternal life that has
no end.
What do we welcome at Hope Lutheran Church?
*We welcome numerous guests each week when we worship – how do you make them feel at
home?
*We welcome multiple groups from our community to have a place to meet each week – how do
you make them feel at home?
*We welcome a new Director of Music Ministries, Brad Randall who will lead the choir,
handbells and share his talent so that we may give our glory to God. How do you make him feel
at home?
*We will welcome our new Associate Pastor (in July) who will lead our youth and families in
ministry as well as share preaching, teaching, administering the sacraments and pastoral care
throughout the church and community. How will you extend Christ’s love and welcome her?
*We welcome “Project 66: Building on Ministries” which supports our initiative to build youth
ministry and to share Christ’s love to feed and encourage faith development at Hope, that reaches
beyond our walls. This project takes all of us to support and allow others to be welcomed. How
will you respond?
*We welcome service to many guests, brides and grooms, grieving people and searching people.
How will you welcome the stranger?
Let us welcome, as instructed by Christ to give glory to God and share in the community of faith.

Project 66 – Building on Ministries
Exciting times are ahead as we carry out the Initiative our
congregation most wanted resulting from the Visioning
Program conducted three years ago. We found a strong
desire to strengthen and expand our programs for young
people and their families through a Youth and Family
Ministry program.
Your church leadership has been concerned about
absorbing the cost for this ministry into the Mission and
Ministry Plan, otherwise known as the yearly budget.
Some of you, too, may have been thinking, “How do we
afford it?” Our plan is to answer these concerns with the
project called:
“Project 66 – Building On Ministries”
Funds are currently projected to be sufficient to support the new position through the rest of this year
without affecting our present plans. However, for 2013 we need to plan for additional income above and
beyond our current levels. We estimate a need for $30,000 to $35,000 in additional money. In this
regard, the Church Council is launching the “ Project 66 – Building On Ministries” program.
Members of the congregation are asked to make a separate special gift of $500 to “Project 66 – Building
On Ministries”. Each $500 gift can be thought of as one (1) building block. Sixty-Six (66) blocks
amount to $33,000+, the goal. Refer to the next page for details of this program.
One member of Hope gave $15,000 as an “Incentive Gift” to cover 2012. Are there other donors who
are willing to give a significant gift such as this for 2013?
Please prayerfully consider contributing to this project above and beyond your normal offering to ensure
the strength of our ministry in the future. If you have not received the mailing or need another envelope
and sheet of intended commitment please call the church office (920) 787-3920 or stop in and pick one
up. When you write a check be sure to include “Project 66” in the memo section. Thank You!

CONFIRMATION STUDENTS’ STATEMENTS OF FAITH
TREVOR BEHM
Hi my name is Trevor Behm. Faith is a big part of my life. Faith means putting my trust in God. I need
to trust that He will protect me. My faith makes me put more effort in what I do. As long as I have faith, I can
do anything and be anything I want to be.
Genesis 2:2-3 says that on the seventh day God finished his work and rested. He then made it holy. It
means that the seventh day is sacred and for worship. It is also called the Sabbath day. We rest on this day
because God did. God finished his work on the world and created humankind.
My time in confirmation has meant a lot to me. I probably wouldn‟t know half the stuff I know today
about God if it wasn‟t for confirmation. I memorized everything I needed to right away because it comes easily
to me. The Lord‟s Prayer I knew before I even got into confirmation, because my mother taught it to me.
The only thing I didn‟t do well on was my sermon notes. I fell way behind. If it wasn‟t for Pastor Nate
and everyone else that supported me, I might not be here right now. So I thank everyone that helped me and
supported me. I also liked the M&M‟s that our teacher Mrs. Hawlish gave to us.
LUKE CASTNER
Hello my name is Luke Castner and I‟m about to tell you my Statement of Faith. “Your companions are
like the buttons on an elevator. They will either take you up or they will take you down.” This quote is based
on a verse from Proverbs 13:20, “He that with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be
destroyed.” This quote is meaningful to me because I have personal experience with it. I used to hang around
friends that were fools or were always making the wrong decisions. This resulted in making me a fool, making
wrong decisions and getting me in trouble. Then I started playing sports & became more aware of my
decisions, I stopped getting in trouble, & they helped me care more about my schoolwork and grades which is
more important than getting into trouble. Sports helped me make new friends that are in the right groups and
with people that made better decisions.
You probably want to know by now what I believe in right? So I‟ll get right to it; I believe in Jesus. I
believe in Jesus because I think that he is just so great. The reason why I think this way is because at first I
didn‟t realize it, but he sacrificed his own life to clean us all of our sins. And I always ask myself “How could
He go through with this without any hesitation at all” well maybe just a little bit. Anyway I am always
astonished that he did that for me & the world. If I was him I couldn‟t do that. I don‟t think that anyone could
do that. So that is why I believe in him and this is why I have faith in him. And it is so nice to be in a
community where everybody here will always believe and have faith in Jesus Christ. I also believe the Bible is
our daily guide to life. When there is something that is troubling a person, you can always use the Bible to
guide you to the answer. I learned this through my years of confirmation class, going to confirmation camp and
participating in the Youth Mission Trips.
Do you remember that quote that I said early, “Your companions are like buttons on an elevator, they
will either take you up or they will take you down”, well I consider Jesus to be one of my companions. We are
always being confronted with choices in life. And like the quote said they will either take you up or they will
take you down, well Jesus lifts me up on the path I have chosen. Amen.
Thank you for your cooperation and for listening to my speech, and for you all to have a great day.
FALLON GOETSCH
I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. This first line is an important saying
to me so much because God made us a great world to live in and without him and his actions we would not
have, what we have in our lives today. He has made me think of what the world would be like without him
over looking us, making sure we do the right thing in the world.
We may have hard times in the world but we always know he is there helping us and trusting us to do
the right thing. Whenever you may need help or need to talk, all you have do is pray and he will hear you and
listen, he may talk to you , but he does have his ways to tell us it‟s ok and were doing the right thing. God is
there so don‟t be afraid to talk to him; he will help us understand what‟s going on. I do believe God will point
us in the next direction of our lives.
Every day I do think about what it would be like in heaven. Would it be cool to overlook the people
like Jesus does? To understand more about Jesus, to know what he did and why he did the things he did for us.
I know that he did the right thing but wouldn't it be better to understand why he died for us. I‟d like to visit
heaven to speak to some of my family members who are there. But I know I can‟t, until it‟s my time. So for
now, I pray that one day we‟ll be together.
The past three years have made me think and learn more about Jesus. Church has been a great way to
learn more about what Jesus has done for us and his teachings. Church is a great experience to take and know.
By attending church I feel I have gotten closer to God and understanding Him more. I know that Jesus lives in
my heart, and that he will be there forever.
To conclude I will share some verses that are most important to me which I have written in my
conformation journal, that I go back to, to feel comforted in my faith. What is faith, “faith is the evidence”
Hebrews 11:1, that God is with us everywhere and at all times. Faith is a big part of my life. Knowing that a
person is justified by faith in Jesus Christ. For the one that wavers is like a wave of the sea, driven with the
wind and tossed, James 1:6. Jesus won‟t toss me around, but will hear what I ask for. Faith is a promise, the
shield of faith, wherewith you shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one, Ephesians 6:16, my
faith in Jesus protects me and makes me feel comforted.
AJ HAWLISH
Hello! My name is Allan Joshua Hawlish…known as A.J. The most important Faith Statement for me
is found in the New Testament, Book of John, Chapter 2 Verses 7-9. “Jesus said to the servants „Fill these jars
with water‟. They filled them to the brim, and then He told them, „now draw some water out and take it to the
man in charge of the feast.‟ They took him the water, which now had turned into wine.”
I believe that this miracle is important because of the way Jesus did things. Over and over again, He
did many miracles. He did these for me. When Jesus did the miracles, He was teaching God‟s word which
helps me to believe in Him – that he is our only God and He can help me behave.
Although I have made many mistakes, Jesus is always there for me. I am lucky that God offers
forgiveness for all my sins and things I do bad. I am glad that God has a good heart and still loves everyone
even when they do wrong.
I thank Pastor Nate for helping me and always being there. I thank the women of Hope who give me
the chance to go to Confirmation camp. I thank Lloyd Tschurwald for being my awesome mentor. I also thank
my mom for helping me get through all the hard stuff in Confirmation and for giving us all the answers for
tests. Thanks also to my Mom and Dad who put up with me every day. I love you!
KATIE HOFFMAN
Hi my name is Katie Hoffman. I have been going to this church for six years. In the past three years
of confirmation I have participated in Shantytown and a mission trip. In these activities God taught me to
help people in need and be thankful for what I have because most people don‟t have food or shelter. I believe
that the Ten Commandments should be respected all the time because God gave them to us to make our lives
better. I believe that God died for our sins and went through all that pain for us because He loves us so much
and I am thankful for that. I am also glad that God gave us a free gift of eternal life so that we can live with
Him. My favorite book of the bible is John because it talks about God dying to save us from our sins. One
verse I like is John 14:6, Jesus said unto him I am the way the truth and the life no one comes to the father
but by me. What that means to me is that he is everything because he died for our sins and rose from the
dead & claim victory over sin. I want to thank all my teachers for the great years of confirmation.
LOGAN KRUEGER
Hello my name is Logan Krueger. I believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I believe that Jesus Christ is God, and is the son of God. I believe that he lived,
died, was buried and then rose again on the third day. I also believe that the bible holds the words of life and
is God's plan and purpose to live better.
”The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of
whom shall I be afraid?"- Psalm 27:1. This verse tells me that I believe the Lord is with me all of the time. I
never need to be afraid that God is not going to be with me. When I am afraid or upset, and things are going
bad for me, I can trust that the Lord is going to be there to help me out. The Lord is the center of my life
because he leads me in the right direction to go. He makes sure that I do not do anything that harms me. He
leads me down the right path that is best for me. He wants me to turn out as a devoted person to God. I thank
the Lord for helping me this far, and l know that the Lord will keep doing so.
While in confirmation I have learned about how and why people get baptized. I have learned the Ten
Commandments. I learned how Jesus Christ came to us, why/how he was killed and why he didn't stop the
people from killing him. I have learned great lessons from his stories in the bible and the lessons to be
learned in them. I have learned so much from confirmation and had fun learning about God and his ways
with my friends.
ASHLEY NOREM
Hi, my name is Ashley. One of the many things I‟ve learned in confirmation was to trust in God. All
of us in one point in time have prayed to God for forgiveness or for God to help us through something such
as a test or troubles with friends. But we start to get mad because we think that God doesn‟t answer our
prayers. Which is wrong. God always does, it may not be the way we‟ve wanted them, but God will always
answer them.
One of my favorite verses is John 3:16. It says that God loved the world so much that he gave up his
only son. What it means to me is that God loves us all equally and very much. We should not doubt him.
After all he is the one that helps us through the hard times.
Another verse I found important was Psalm 23 verse 4. It says “Even though I walk through the
valley of the shadows of death. I will fear no evil, for you are with me your rod and your staff, they comfort
me. “What it‟s saying to me is that God will always be with me to help and guide me through the worries
and troubles of life.”
MARRISSA SIMONSON
Hi my name is Marrissa Simonson! I learned many things in confirmation, but one of the
most important things to me was Exodus, 1:5-10.
The Pharaoh’s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe while her servants were walking
along the river. She saw a basket among the reeds and sent her slave to retrieve it. Inside the
basket she saw the baby, he was crying and she felt sorry for him. She said, “This is one of the
Hebrew babies.” The child’s uncle saw that the Pharaoh’s daughter had found the child and
said to her, “Shall I go and get a Hebrew woman to tend to the child?” She said, “Yes and go
quickly!” He went and retrieved the child’s mother. Pharaoh’s daughter said to the woman,
“Nurse this child and I will pay you.” So the woman nursed the child, and when he got older
she presented him to the Pharaoh’s daughter. He became her son; she named him Moses
saying “ I drew him out of the water.” God put me into a family, gave me a home, and adopted
me. There’s no telling what life would have been like without a family or someone to love. I
was adopted by my physical family and into the holy family of God by baptism. God watched
over me to give me so much.
Hearing that verse taught me that God isn’t just there, he lives through us. Moses’
mother would have never seen her son again unless God told her brother to talk to the
Pharaoh’s daughter. She would have had another woman raise him if God hadn’t told her to
listen to the brother. Without God in our lives, we would be sinners and we would hate. We
wouldn’t know any other way like learning how to love, to forgive, to never give up, and to care
for others.
I want to thank Pastor Nate for helping me and teaching me. I want to thank Mary, my
teacher, for teaching me more about faith and more about God and his word. Thanks to my
mentor, Pat Rose, for supporting and encouraging me. Thanks to the congregation for your
support and help like when you take your time to say “hi” or to ask about my days. I want to
thank my parents for always being there for me, never giving up, and helping me be closer to
God.
I can do all things
through Christ who
strengthens me.
How to properly clean a headstone
Over a period of time headstones will
accumulate a layer of deposits resulting
from moss or lichens. Below are some
suggestions on how to care/clean for
headstones of your loved ones.
**Before any headstone is cleaned,
assess the condition of the stone. If the
headstone is in bad disrepair, it's best
not to clean it. If the stone is flaking or
brittle, cleaning will make it worse. Do
not clean headstones that are cracked or
that sound hollow when you rap on them
with your knuckles. Such stones aren't
sound enough for cleaning.
If the headstone is a white chalky
color it tends to be made of marble.
Chemicals should not be used on this
type of headstone. It should be
cleaned with a power-washer or
wiped down with iron free water.
If the headstone is granite it can be
cleaned with straight bleach and a
wire brush. It should be then rinsed
well with good, clean water. Make
sure the water used is free of iron.
Iron tends to leave a yellow residue
behind on the stone. A power-washer
can also be used to clean granite.
A day in June
And what is so rare as a day in June?
Then, if ever, come perfect days;
Then Heaven tries earth if it be in tune,
And over it softly her warm ear lays;
Whether we look, or whether we listen,
We hear life murmur, or see it glisten;
…Now the heart is so full that a drop overfills it,
We are happy now because God wills it;
No matter how barren the past may have been,
’Tis enough for us now that the leaves are green;
We sit in the warm shade and feel right well
How the sap creeps up and the blossoms swell;
We may shut our eyes but we cannot help knowing
That skies are clear and grass is growing ….
