<strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Boggy</strong> <strong>Creek</strong> is the only multi-disease, therapeutic<br />
camp in Florida offering programs at no charge to children or<br />
their families. Meeting the needs of each<br />
child from 14 illness groups requires the<br />
expert and compassionate care of hundreds<br />
of dedicated medical volunteers<br />
who help in countless ways. Whether it<br />
is a child life specialist who helps refer<br />
eligible children, or a doctor or nurse<br />
who volunteers for a week or weekend,<br />
or a partner who helps to organize<br />
transportation to <strong>Camp</strong>, our Healthcare<br />
Partners and medical professionals are<br />
invaluable to helping seriously ill children<br />
discover and Believe in their Journey.<br />
Also, for every medical volunteer<br />
who gives their time at <strong>Camp</strong>, there are<br />
many more working behind the scenes to ensure that every child<br />
has the time of their life.<br />
For Brenda Phillips, who has a Master’s Degree in<br />
Social Work, <strong>Camp</strong> <strong>Boggy</strong> <strong>Creek</strong> is a “special place where her<br />
heart kids (from Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami) discover<br />
themselves in a place of love and respect.” For years, Brenda had<br />
referred many of Miami-Dade County’s most seriously ill children<br />
and although she had never been to <strong>Camp</strong>, her contributions<br />
helped many to discover a unique place where magic happens.<br />
In 2009, Brenda’s role changed from caregiver to camper parent<br />

when she and her family attended a Spina Bifida Retreat after her<br />
daughter turned seven years old and was accepted to attend camp.<br />
“I always knew <strong>Boggy</strong> <strong>Creek</strong> was an excellent camp, but experiencing<br />
it with my child was beyond wonderful!” Brenda stated.<br />
