1. Welcome and minutes
Caroline Lüdecke opens the general meeting and welcomes all attendees. The general
meeting is competent since more than seven members are attending.
The minutes of the meeting of June 8th 2010 are approved.

2. Introduction of new members
16 new members have joined Friends of B.I.S. since the last general meeting. Ten more
people applied to join – here the application forms still need to be signed.

First goal of the new board is to increase the number of members. Our school has more
than 800 students. We want to grow from originally 70 to 140 members. Non-active
members are also always welcome.
3. Farewell/Withdrawals
There have been five withdrawals since the last general meeting.

4. Discharge of the board
On application of Andreas Otto former board has been discharged unanimously with
two abstentions.

5. Expenditures; receipts; balance
In the invitation to the Silent Auction is asked for payment to a wrong bank account.
The Silent Auction Committee will inform about the correct bank account in the next
newsletter.
Friends of B.I.S. wants to achieve a maximum transparency of donations and grants by
publishing such information on the Förderverein website. The minutes of the general
meetings of the Förderverein will be put on the website as well.
6. Report of the board
Caroline Lüdecke presents the new members of the advisory board and their tasks.
Their role is to advise the board that appoints them. Further details please gather further
details from the constitution.

The board is looking for further members of the advisory board for the organisation of
get-togethers and taking minutes at the general meetings.
7. Miscellaneous
Members discussed new ideas for events.
- The board presented the idea to organize a "10x10 Dinners" in spring: Ten
families will each invite ten guests for dinner. An option could be to have e.g. a
Chinese, a Thai, a Spanish or other evening. How we could raise a contribution
for Friends of B.I.S. will have to be discussed.
- Next year’s Silent Auction team is looking for co-operators. Arrangements for this
year are running according to plan.
- Sponsor run: People are looked for to collect donations during the week after the
run between 8 and 9 am. As known, half of the raised money will go to Friends of
B.I.S. and so enables the club to support projects.

- The new stage should be used for Friends of B.I.S. events as for example a cabaret
evening with English speaking artists living in Berlin. Hubert Keulers informs,
that 320 seats are available. It was discussed if tickets could be sold to the public
or only within the school community. Further ideas were to organise a karaoke
evening and a parent's talent show.
- It is still under discussion if a gala will take place next year. If so, it would take
place in summer.
- Venues for the next get-together were discussed (similar to former events of
different international clubs and similar venues). Andreas Wegener raised the idea
to meet in the former "Staatsratsgebäude" at Schlossplatz in Berlin-Mitte. He will
check possibilities including a guided tour and catering. Other locations for
networking events could be the Dutch, Russian or the Nordic Embassies or the
International Club in the Foreign Ministry.
- A "New Year's Get Together" was suggested.
Hubert Keulers informs about the speech and debates competition. It will take place
between 17 th and 19 th of November 2010. The school is still looking for
accommodations for students from other schools. The same applies for the GISST
Soccer Tournament that B.I.S. will also host on 18 th and 19 th November.
It was discussed, that Friends of B.I.S. should be developed into an alumni club to
become more attractive for former students. A website will be organized. Special
Friends of B.I.S. membership fees and/or sending of the yearbook could possibly be
offered to former students.
It was discussed that school trips, which are subsidised by Friends of B.I.S., should be
as safe and inexpensive as possible. Trips by bus should not be the only option. Often it
is cheaper and more efficient to travel by train. As Friends of B.I.S. is managing funds
donated by parents, they need to make sure that costs are reduced where possible. A
conclusive concept needs to be worked out in collaboration with the school.
