Welcome to Darlington Raceway
Welcome to Darlington Raceway, NASCAR’s original superspeedway and the track
that is still “Too Tough to Tame.”
The 2009 season marks a historic milestone for Darlington Raceway as we celebrate
60 Seasons of Racing. Since 1950 Darlington Raceway has seen 43 different drivers
visit Victory Lane. Some of NASCAR’s most legendary drivers - Pearson, Petty,
Earnhardt, Yarborough, and many others - have danced with the “Lady in Black” and
celebrated a victory on NASCAR’s most hallowed ground.
Additionally, old and new traditions will unite in 2009 when the Southern 500®
race name returns to Darlington Raceway and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race
on Mother’s Day weekend.
In addition to the NASCAR Nationwide Series and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
action this Mother’s Day weekend we will once again host the Darlington Historic
Racing Festival. The two-day festival will take place on Saturday, September 26 and
Sunday, September 27 and will feature vintage race cars, appearances by racing
legends, autograph and question and answer sessions as well as exhibition runs.
As you can see, 2009 is sure to be another exciting year at Darlington Raceway
and we look forward to sharing our 60th Season of Racing with you. From the entire
staff at Darlington Raceway, thank you for your continued support.
