<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Alexander</strong> <strong>Schlotter</strong> is one of the founding partners of Wallinger, Ricker,<br />
<strong>Schlotter</strong>, Tostmann (WRST). He holds a PhD in engineering and is admitted<br />
as German and <strong>European</strong> <strong>Patent</strong> Attorney since 2005 and 2004, respectively.<br />
Technical Expertise<br />
<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Schlotter</strong> studied mechanical engineering with specialization in theory and<br />
research at the Technische Universität München, where he completed his degree<br />
(“Dipl.-<strong>Ing</strong>.”) in 1997 with highest honors. During his studies, he gained<br />
further experience as a scientific assistant at various research departments,<br />
inter alia in mechanics, thermodynamics and cybernetics as well as at the<br />
neurological clinic of the Ludwig-Maximilian University Munich (Großhadern).<br />
From 1997 through 2000, <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Schlotter</strong> collaborated with Prof. Pfeiffer as a research<br />
fellow at the Institute for Applied Mechanics at the Technical University<br />
of Munich, receiving his PhD (“<strong>Dr</strong>.-<strong>Ing</strong>.”) with highest honors (summa cum<br />
laude) with his thesis work focused on the dynamics, control and optimization<br />
of a novel tele robot. During this period <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Schlotter</strong> founded his own engineering<br />
firm and worked, inter alia, on acoustic problems in automatic gears<br />
(in cooperation with Daimler-Chrysler), design of gear drives (in cooperation<br />
with Volkswagen) and vibrations in printing machines (in cooperation with<br />
MAN Roland, MAN Plamag).<br />
Intellectual Property Expertise<br />
<strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Schlotter</strong> is active in the field of Intellectual Property since 2001, initially<br />
at a prestigious large Munich patent firm where he broadened his experience,<br />
inter alia, in medical technology before he started his own patent firm. In 2007<br />
he co-founded Wallinger Ricker <strong>Schlotter</strong> Tostmann. Since 2009, <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Schlotter</strong><br />
is a member of the examining committee for German patent attorneys.<br />
His day-to-day practice comprises, in particular, drafting, prosecuting and<br />
defending patents for his clients as well as attacking opponent’s patents<br />
before the German and <strong>European</strong> <strong>Patent</strong> Office and the German Federal <strong>Patent</strong><br />
Court. <strong>Dr</strong>. <strong>Schlotter</strong> further advices regularly on strategic IP aspects und<br />
represents his clients in lawsuits before German civil courts.
