Welcome to Orientation
Rodolfo Arévalo, PhD
EWU President
Welcome to Eastern Washington University
and congratulations on taking the first step
in attaining your degree. At Eastern, we know
that an education for the future is about more
than learning skills for a career– it is also
preparation for life. Our excellent faculty and
staff are here to help you reach your goal of
attaining your degree.
College is a time to challenge yourself and
participate fully in the college experience.
While your determination and perseverance
will help you achieve the goal of attaining
your degree, we are here to help you. I
encourage you to take advantage of the
many resources we have to better your life as
not just a student, but a productive citizen.
Now is the time to start building relationships
that can, and will, help build your future. Be
prepared to study hard, make new friends
and enjoy your time as an Eagle. Look toward
the future and all you can accomplish. Your
decision to start something big is a pivotal
moment and I want you to be successful!
Stacey Morgan Foster, JD
Vice President for Student Affairs
Whether you are a freshman, transfer or
international student, I encourage you
to participate fully in the New Student
Orientation and learn about EWU’s many
programs and the resources to support
your personal and academic success.
Orientation jumpstarts your college
experience by facilitating connections with
fellow students, faculty and staff, welcoming
you into the family of Eastern Eagles, and
introducing you to the campus traditions.
Attending orientation will familiarize you with
all the campus has to offer. You’ll have fun
while extending your learning outside the
classroom and making lifelong friends.
I look forward to seeing you during
Orientation!
Go Eagles!
