18 140312 AMANGIRI At the center of Amangiri is the Pavilion, with dramatic views of rock formations and the swimming pool to one side and panoramic views of the surrounding plateaus to the other. Within the Pavilion are the Living Room, Gallery, Library, Dining Room, Private Dining Room and Cellar. The Living Room is located in two spacious alcoves which enjoy wood-burning fireplaces and sweeping views. The Gallery showcases the region’s best art, jewelry and handicrafts including works from the Navajo community. Situated on an elevated plinth in the center of the Pavilion is the Library – a series of extended sofas punctuated by ledges filled with books and magazines. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the Dining Room features floor-to-ceiling glass doors which open onto the outdoor dining terrace overlooking the swimming pool. The focal point of the Dining Room is the open-plan kitchen with its wood-fired oven imparting a unique flavour and rustic authenticity to Amangiri’s cuisine. The Private Dining Room with its 10-seat wooden table and fireplace is located opposite the kitchen, adjacent to the Wine Cellar. This walk-in facility features floor-to-ceiling walnut cabinets housing a unique selection of wines, a built-in wine dispenser and a cigar humidor. Designed to wrap around a prominent rock outcrop, the swimming pool is set within a sunken courtyard overlooked by the Pavilion. A number of king-sized daybeds appear to float on the water on one side. Located beyond the Pavilion, the Desert Lounge is an open-air living room – a special place to enjoy the beauty of the sunset or the stars at night. Two wings lead from the Pavilion into the desert, accommodating 34 suites in total and the Aman Spa.
