First and Foremost - US Coast Guard Auxiliary, First District ...

The 2011 boating season is here, and with it comes the time for us to have fun on
the water and to renew our pledges to the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary
once again. For me, it does not seem possible that just yesterday it was 2009 and
I was elected District Commodore. I would like to take this opportunity to thank
everyone for working so hard, and for all your efforts for your support and efforts
in making all events successful.
A lot has happened during my tenure and the within the Auxiliary. The majority
of our changes are organized under “modernization” and D1SR embraced them
with open/welcome arms. Many new changes are underway and The United
States Congress must make final decisions in order for us to continue our renewal
efforts. As our National Commodore’s Vision Statement says: “The Coast Guard Auxiliary will continue
to meet America’s ever changing needs through increased attention to recreational boating
safety, security of America’s waterways, and improved methods of educating the boating public”, we
must all be ready to serve and complete our assigned missions.
D1SR has always been ready to serve. We have implemented many changes, always following National
directives. For those of you who have assumed the mantel of elected and/or appointed office,
your leadership and dedication to serve proudly is commendable. I want to remind everyone that we
need to continue to increase the membership with diverse members who possess a passion to support
safe boating. We need to support programs that provide funding to further the success of the organization
and to continue to maintain the high standards of the organization to ensure that we continue
to maintain the integrity and dependability of the USCG Auxiliary.
Bravo Zulu to all of you who embrace our mission, embracing the core values of the Coast Guard and
who serve with honor, respect and devotion to duty.
