<strong>Hair</strong> Care with Trichology<br />
We take care of your hair in more ways than one<br />
Trichology is a highly specialised science concerned with the treatment<br />
of hair loss and scalp disorders: it is the science of the structure,<br />
function and diseases of the human hair.<br />
Barbara is a certified hair and scalp consultant who will be able to<br />
offer the solutions you need and give you the time to answer the<br />
questions you have about your scalp and hair problems.<br />
<strong>The</strong>re are many scalp conditions which are irritating and cosmetically<br />
distressing which can be alleviated or controlled with the<br />
correct treatment regime. Advice can be given, to adults and<br />
children, on a range of conditions some of which include:<br />
� <strong>Hair</strong> Loss and hair thinning<br />
� Female and Male Androgenic <strong>Hair</strong> loss (pattern baldness)<br />
� Excessive oiliness<br />
� Itching, flaking scalp, Dandruff<br />
� <strong>Hair</strong> breakage<br />
� Eczema(scalp)<br />
� Trichotillomania (hair pulling)<br />
� Head lice<br />
We will carry out a physical examination of the hair and scalp<br />
with the help of a special camera and also gather a few hairs for a<br />
microscope examination where required to determine the condition<br />
and growth phase the hair was in when shed. Digital photos<br />
may be taken of hair loss for progressive assessments.<br />
At the end of the examination your trichologist will explain what<br />
she suspects and may, if required, schedule a follow up appointment<br />
or contact you with her findings if further information or<br />
test results are needed.<br />
Once a cause is established your trichologist will decide if:<br />
� a treatment plan at home with regular re-assessment to<br />
check progress and aid long term management would be beneficial.<br />
� or a referral to a medical doctor for further evaluation and<br />
possible medication for example hormonal imbalances hypo or<br />
hyperthyroid, (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), diabetes, anaemia,<br />
kidney or liver problems, poisoning from pesticides, lead etc.<br />
