This standard describes the procedure for the provision of works standards from MAN
Nutzfahrzeuge AG (MAN) for external users.
This process instruction applies for all supplies of production materials and general materials with
framework agreement and for suppliers, who require access to MAN works standards in advance of
development and delivery agreements.
The purpose of this standard is the instruction for the regular, autonomous and independent updating
of the stock of MAN works standards valid for the external user, in order to guarantee compliance with
the guidelines in line with the quality assurance systems required by MAN.
2 Duties of suppliers with framework agreement
Suppliers with framework agreement (responsible party) are obliged to inform the responsible departments
within their company of the standards of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG that have been provided.
The responsible departments at the supplier are obliged, to immediately check the updated works
standards of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, which form the basis of the agreement with MAN, and to advise
the responsible production material buyer at MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG immediately (at the latest
8 weeks after provision of the standard) if the deliveries cannot be carried out appropriately.
The obligation to secrecy applies and is to be confirmed by the supplier. This obligation especially
points out that only those standards may be downloaded by the supplier which are necessary for
executing the Agreement with MAN.
3 Brief description of procedure
Since the beginning of the year 2001 those works standards of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG which
are relevant for suppliers have been available on the Internet. All the users in line with the above scope
receive an access authorisation, which authorises the user to search and download the standards
provided (only those required according to the agreement).
The users, who have registered using the link described in Section 5.1, will be informed by E-Mail about
the current amended works standards. Using this amendment list, the user must independently determine
the company-specific updating requirement.
After the updating requirement has been determined, the appropriate full text copies will be obtained
independently by download from the Internet.
4 System requirements
To carry out the provision process for the MAN works standards, the following system requirements must be
in place at the external user:
• Internet connection
• E-mail address
• Standard browser
• Viewer Adobe Acrobat Reader , current version (free-of-charge download on http://www.adobe.com)
5 Provision of works standards via the Internet
Since the start of the year 2001, the works standards of MAN Nutzfahrzeuge AG, which are relevant
for external users, have been provided on MAN's website. The starting page can be found at:
http://www.normen.man-nutzfahrzeuge.de
The starting page for standards provision appears (Figure 5.1).
Fig. 5.1: Starting page
The starting page offers 3 links:
• Registration
• Download aktueller Monat (Download of update for current month)
• Übersicht aller Werknormen (Overview of all works standards)

5.1 Registration
Page 3
M 3335 : 2008-04
Using the link Registration the application to be sent an access authorisation is made. After checking
the authorisation, the account for access to the provision of MAN works standards by E-Mail is sent to the
E-Mail address stated in the registration.
Users who have registered via the Internet (Figure 5.1.1), will be informed by E-Mail about the currently
amended works standards. Using this amendment list, the company-specific updating requirement can be
determined independently.
Fig. 5.1.1: Registration form
Registration occurs using various entry fields (name, company, E-Mail address, etc.). The fields marked with
an asterisk (*) must be filled in, whereas those not marked may be left empty. Once the filled-in registration
form has been sent off and a confirmation been subsequently received, the registered person is included in the
mailing list.
Please apply particular care in entering the e-mail address in the registration form, as this address is used for
informing you of the monthly changes to standards. An incorrect address results in errors in the distribution
of updating messages by e-mail.
The external user must advise any changes corresponding to the procedure for a new application.
Deletions are to be sent to the contact indicated on the starting page.
5.2 Download for current month
After determining the company-specific updating requirement, the appropriate full text copies are downloaded
by download from the Internet. The download function for the updated standards is under “Download for
current month”. Here the works standards indicated in the e-mailed list of updates are available for
downloading.
To reach this page, an access authorisation (user name and password) is required. All the external users
in line with the above scope, who have carried out registration according to Section 5.1, have been sent
an access authorisation. This account is required when accessing the rubric Download current month.

The first column of this page once again contains the list of updated works standards. At the end of each
line is the word “Download” which has to be clicked on with the mouse to download the full text copy of the
respective standard. The downloaded file is in the PDF format (Portable Document Format) and can be
viewed with the Viewer Acrobat Reader.
The Viewer can be downloaded free of charge from:
http://www.adobe.com
Fig. 5.2.1: Download for current month
The updated standards can also be downloaded under “Overview of all works standards” (see Chapter 5.3).
5.3 Overview of all works standards
While only changes in the current month are displayed on the page Download current month, all the MAN
works standards that are relevant for external users are listed on the page Overview of all works standards.
To reach this page, an access authorisation (user name and password) is also required. All the external users
in line with the above scope, who have carried out registration according to Section 5.1, have been sent an
access authorisation. This account is required when accessing the rubric Overview of all works standards.
By clicking on the link Overview of all works standards all the available works standards are listed
in alphanumeric order. Here too all standards can be downloaded.
The page contains exclusively updated standards and standard issues. Standards and standard issues which
have been superseded or withdrawn are deleted from the list. If you have questions concerning standards not
on this page see Chapter 8.

6 Notes on application
Page 5
M 3335 : 2008-04
• The page Overview of all works standards lists several hundred MAN works standards. The standard
required can be found with the aid of the scroll bar.
• In addition, text strings, which may be a concrete works-standard number (eg MAN 239) or also only
a part of a works-standard title (eg EMP), can be searched for with the browser's search function.
• In numerous cases, alongside the German language standards, the listings also include foreign language
versions. These versions are defined by the addition of a language designation to the works-standard
number. Fig. 5.3.1 shows the German-language version “M 3008” and the English-language version
“M 3008 EN”. Further language designations are: FR=French, PL=Polish, IT=Italian, SP=Spanish,
TR=Turkish.
7 Obligation to secrecy
Within the framework of the provision process in line with this standard, the Non-Disclosure Agreement applies
for each external user who is included in this process as a result of the agreement with MAN, and this must be
confirmed.
