right around the corner. When the icy winds
blow and the snowfall seems relentless, one

When heading to South Florida one immediately
thinks of the lavish beaches and crisp
clear seas. The Seagate Hotel stays true to
its name as a doorway to the sea in its modernist,
beach-chic design. Just steps from the
beach, the resort incorporates natural sea elements

wall fixtures reminiscent of the sand patterns
on Delray’s beaches. The hotel literally brings
the sea into its design thanks to a 5,000-gallon
lobby aquarium stocked with vibrant reef
fish while Morey eels lurk in the grand hall
aquarium and Lionfish and jellyfish delicately
dance in the aquarium of the hotel’s American
Grille restaurant. Further adorned with palms,
tropical ferns and native flowering plants, this
beach-inspired theme brings guests a sense
of tranquility.
Each of the hotel’s 162 guestrooms feature
tropical mahogany woodwork, marble and
stone bath fixtures, in-room entertainment
systems and private bars. Custom furnishes
etched in white, ecru and espresso brown
decorate each room while custom Egyptian
cotton linens provide a lush sleep experience.
For the ultimate stay, the Seagate’s
Presidential Suites total 2,500 square feet of
living space including an 800 square-foot balcony.
The massive Master bedroom feels even
more grandiose thanks to a staggering cathedral
ceiling and features another private balcony.
Indulge in the master bath’s Rain Forest
shower or platformed bubble-jet tub for your
own in-room spa. For entertaining guests, the
Presidential Suite also houses a luxury parlor,
dining room table, full kitchen and King guest
bedroom.
Should the master bathroom not be enough
for your indulgent tastes, the Seagate’s 8,000
square-foot Spa holds seven individual treatment
rooms and a full wet room. A favorite of
hotel guests and locals alike, the Seagate Spa
sits at street level and features a private elevator
entrance for hotel guests. The spa offers
a Vichy shower, two steam rooms, a Bikram
yoga studio and a manicure and pedicure
suite. The Seagate Spa uses Amala – translated
from Sanskrit as “most pure” - certified
organic skincare products, an incredibly exclusive
line available at only four other spas in
North America.
The Seagate’s on-site restaurant, The Atlantic
Grille, serves upscale modern American
cuisine focusing on locally sourced seafood.
Headed by Executive Chef Adam Gottlieb,
the ocean-to-table restaurant features an
open exhibition kitchen where guests can
interact with Gottlieb and his staff. The Atlantic
Grille’s 245 seats include round private
booths surrounding the main dining area to
offer guests more private dining. Guests can
also dine al fresco on the restaurant’s open-air
terrace or opt for an exclusive dinner in one
of two private dining areas. Glass walls surround
the Wine Room, pairing perfectly with
the custom-designed hand-blown glass chandeliers
suspended above the dining area’s
12-foot stone table capable of holding a party
of 14. The Private Dining Room offers a more
intimate space for 10, perfect for small parties
or business affairs.
While staying at the Seagate Hotel & Spa the
courteous concierge staff will attend to your
every want and need. As you set off into town,
take advantage of the complimentary transportation
service aboard one of two Mercedes
vehicles. That is, if you ever need to
leave the resort’s grounds.

Beach Miami where you’ll find the Z Ocean
Hotel. Located on the famous Ocean Drive,

since 2004. Their latest collection, “Nina,” named after their grandmother, artfully combines

The Nina line also uses a gold and silver dusting finish, giving the wall coverings a tactile,
hand crafted feel, designed to mimic the works of Impressionist artists. “We wanted to include
the subtle colors, brusk strokes and light effects made famous by the impressionists,”
said Maria Yaschuk. “Although MEYSTYLE is all about what’s new and innovative, we liked
the idea of incorporating a tradition into contemporary designs and interiors.”

A collaboration between the Guggenheim and YouTube, with the aid of HP and Intel, YouTube Play. A Biennial of Creative Video comes to the
Guggenheim Foundation this fall. In late September the museum released the Shortlist – 125 videos selected from more than 23,000 submissions
from 91 countries. Special kiosks displaying the videos have been built at the Guggenheim museums in New York, Berlin, Bilbao, and Venice.
In an incredible display of diversity and global unity, the shortlisted collection combines the videos of students, video artists, photographers,
filmmakers, composers, video game producers, an American Women’s Chess Champion, a comedy improv group, a Swedish rock band, a South
African hip-hop group, and an Australian music producer. A jury of 11 luminaries – including the likes of Laurie Anderson, Takashi Murakami, musical
artists Animal Collective, Marilyn Minter, and Darren Aronofsky – will select 20 final videos to be revealed at the YouTube Play event at the
Guggenheim Museum on October 21.

A bed is a place of comfort – a cocoon-like retreat that provides a sense of protection in an enclosed space. With this image in mind, Joseph
Walsh created the Enignum Canopy Bed, an architectural masterpiece in furniture design meant to mold modern geometry and symmetry with
the subtle curves and sways of nature. Crafting the beds from ash and organza silk materials, Walsh strips the wood into thin layers to manipulate
the wood via free form bending. Using the wood’s relative elasticity, Walsh shapes each bed frame into a flowing, natural composition.
The canopy fabrics vary with the seasons, using a different textile for each piece in the series. The silk’s free movement delicately plays with lights
and shadows and provides a stark asymmetrical foil to the wood’s rigid conformity. Because a bed is also personal, each bed is one-of-a-kind,
built from the natural curvatures of the wood pieces. “I shape through the layers to reveal not only the honesty of the structure but the sculpted
form,” says Walsh, “[to achieve] a unique collaboration of man and material.”

years of history. On September 25 the museum unveiled The Dead Torreador, the worldfamous
painting by Edouard Manet. In addition to the Worcester Art Museum’s ever-increasing

and its patrons. In conjunction with the Manet unveiling, WAM sent a raffle winner on a trip
to Spain to tour art galleries in Madrid and Barcelona. Next May the museum will also host
a 13-day trip to China guided by Clark University professor Paul Ropp. With a slew of music
performances and many other courses and events scheduled throughout the year, it’s clear
why Worcester Art Museum earned this year’s honors as Best Museum.

Hunter Foote Plays Violin
Jacob Edwards Library, Southbridge

Local celebrity, Hunter Foote, will be performing
at the Jacob Edwards Library on
Thursday, October 7, at 6:30 PM. Hunter
will be performing his eclectic sampling
of music; from his own originals, classical
to rock Irish, fiddle and lots in-between!
Hunter may be joined by another up and
coming musician, Michael Caprera on
piano.
Hunter has been studying violin since the
age of 5. Using his talent and passion for
music, Hunter has shared this gift with
hundreds of groups and organizations.
Some of Hunter’s earliest performances
were for local churches, senior centers
and charity fundraisers. Hunter has since
become a much sought after solo performer
at weddings, funerals, private parties,
restaurants, and town festivals but he
still makes time for lots of volunteering
and benefits. Hunter also plays with a trio,
The Boys of the Town, performing traditional
Irish music.

Hunter was home schooled until he entered
college at 13 years old. He graduated
this past May from Holyoke Community
College with a double major in Music and
Liberal Arts. He is now attending the Isenberg
School of Management at UMASS
Amherst to earn his Bachelors Degree in
business.

with “The Cemetery Club”, a heartwarming
comedy by Ivan Menchell. It is the
story of three Jewish widows (Ida, Doris
& Lucille) who meet once a month for tea
before going to the cemetery to visit their
husband’s graves. When Sam the butcher
enters the scene, everything goes awry!
The cast features Cynthia Beale (of Barre)
as Ida, Patti Schaaf (of Wheelwright) as
Doris, Ginny Catanese (of Athol) as Lucille,
John Goodale (of Princeton) as Sam,
and Jessie Olson (of Newton) as Mildred.
