System & Software Engineering • Model Driven Methodologies and Tools intecs is a leader in the field of methodologies and tools for the analysis and design of software systems through model driven approaches, including integration with techniques for the modelling of nonfunctional requirements specific to hard-real-time and dependable systems. intecs has developed a family of tools supporting the critical activities of the software system development process, such as the analysis, design and automated coding of HRT systems. Verification & Validation • Safety-Critical Systems intecs is especially active in the field of V&V (Verification & Validation) of complex systems in different areas and markets such as Avionics and Railway Signalling Systems. An important role is played by Hazard Analysis activities, which reveal possible hazards that can cause the system to exhibit unsafe behaviour and permit the early identification of risk mitigation measures. • Check-out Systems intecs has developed several software tools to support testing tasks. Internet and Communications • Middleware and Interoperability intecs has longstanding experience in systems providing services needing interoperability functionality to allow mutual information exchange among participating partners and to gather distributed information to be presented as a unique service for the user. Such systems make use of XML-based Web Services standards (HTTP-SOAP based infrastructure) and specific ISO/OSI protocols. Major examples of such systems are the "User Services" infrastructures of the Ground Segment for Earth Observation satellites (e.g. Cosmo-SkyMed). • Data Dissemination intecs is involved in satellite-based data dissemination systems for Earth Observation providing for bulk data transfer services from individual sources to many receiving stations across Europe. • Mobile Terminals intecs is committed to the implementation of Mobile Terminals exploiting its competence in the fields of wireless communications and Software Defined Radio. It is involved in the design, development and testing of TETRA software and firmware components both on the TETRA mobile terminal and on the TE- TRA base station. Software Defined Radio intecs develops receivers for Satellite Navigation based on “Software Defined Radio” techniques. This approach consists in processing radio signals in a combination of software and firmware, rather than relying primarily on fixed-function.
Certifications In 1994 intecs became one of the first software companies in Italy to be granted ISO 9001 certification (Det Norske Veritas) for activities related to the design, development, test and maintenance of software in the Defence, Space and Civilian sectors. The quality system has since been redefined to ensure conformance to ISO 12207 standards and NATO AQAP 2110, AQAP 150 and 160. Numerous specialized internal procedures are now available to comply effectively with specific standards such as Defence (MIL-498), Space (ECSS E40/Q80), Railway (EN 50128) and Automotive (AutoSPICE - ISO 15504). intecs has been assessed in 2009 at maturity level 3 ("Defined") according to the Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) of the Software Engineering Institute. A formal "SCAMPI A" appraisal has been performed for the Defence and Traffic Control Divisions and is currently planned for the other Divisions. Previously intecs was already assessed at level 3 of CMM within the framework of the ASSO organisation (created together with SELEX-SI and TRS). In 2005, intecs was qualified by SCIROTÜV and TÜV Rheinland Berlin Branderburg, for the performance of assessments according to the CENELEC EN 50128 standards. intecs has a safety functional engineer team according to EN 61508 certified by TÜV. In 2006, an assessment by Volkswagen recognized intecs for the performance of process improvement initiatives for software suppliers in the context of AutomotiveSPICE (ISO 15504). Furthermore, intecs has a software process assessor team Automotive SPICE ISO 15504 certified according to the TACS European scheme.
